Wow, this was such a profound discussion! Thank you very much. Hashem put us here bc He wants us to do our part to rectify and elevate the whole world, not just ourselves. We must go from strength to strength and do what we can as we are able. I am very appreciative of this lesson right now. Thank you Rabbi.
"The problem with consciousness is SELF consciousness" - great class!
Psychedelics are often described as "boundary dissolving" - so what you taught regarding kedusha and boundaries is so important to consider.
I have heard it explained that in terms of psychodynamics, narcissism is not a case of excessive ego, but lack of ego - or self-boundary. In compensation for an inability to generate an internal sense of self, a false self must be generated externally, leading to the maladaptive behaviors seen in NPD.
With disturbed or dissolved boundaries, non-ordinary states of consciousness have the potential to erode our ability to discern truth while giving the impression of enhancing it, promoting the ideal conditions for spiritual bypassing.
I do believe there may be real benefits though, so I hope a collaboration between medical research and psycho/spiritual insight will produce a more integral approach to such states.
Thank you dear Rabbi Nir
Thank you for this lesson. There is an outgoing research on psychodelic assisted psychotherapy. I believe point of using psychedelics there is not as an easy way out of traumas or addictions but rather as a catalyst in self-reflection. Also whole psychedelic experience should be properly integrated into patients day to day life with the help of a professional. Big respect to Lubavitcher Rebbe for his foresight.
Wow. “When people are seeking a spiritual experience for its own sake, they tell themselves they are doing it for HaShem but they are actually doing it for themselves.”
"Expand your vessels.... expand your consciousness." 🤍
