fabulous, I never had one but away's wanted to own this bike, its not for speeding on but just the magic that this bike had in the day, yes give it a blast but its owning something like this that's the reward, nice job.
In 1972 I was 16 years old and not legally allowed to ride a motorbike (you need to be 18 over here) so I rode my Yamaha FS1 moped. But there was a guy in our small village who owned an H2 just like this one. How I envied him!! Later on I got involved in triples but not the Kawasaki's. The British BSA / Triumph push rod threes instead. Still love the H2 though - what a gem. In the early seventies it was something from outer space - and it probably still is.
I love that there are guys rebuilding and restoring these bikes. When I drive around the area I live, I see the buildings that were once motorcycle dealerships. Some had 30 plus bikes in the show room at that time. A few of the buildings remain but none even have business of any kind.
I had one of these before I got my 750/5. If you happen to own one of these H2's, I recommend strongly, very strongly, you do not ever let a friend or potential buyer take it out for a spin. These bikes require a certain specific method of operation, particularly over 80 MPH. Coasting should be avoided at all cost. Be on the throttle or on the brakes. Repeat... DO NOT COAST.
Right in my back yard, I've landed my balloon in his yard. I,m working on my 73 s2 probably have to visit his shop to get some things taken care of. Great people!
The amazing personal attention to each and every part and the process of ongoing video updates is the most thorough and reliably expert mechanical and restorative arts & service I have ever seen!
Wow Johhny! Excellent job. Nice editing work with the video too. I love to see a bike running knowing I rebuilt the crank. I love doing these things! You inspire me to get my old gal restored.
I love it when a plan comes together! A buddy used to race a blue '72 H2 in the AFM (numberplate #818) and did really well with it. His tip was to keep the arms and upper body relaxed, and just let 'er squirm. Tighten up and things went south quickly. He rode that bike to a seventh place in the 1978 AMA superbike event at Sears Point.
Memories abound.... I bought a new 1971 H1 in January of 71, and then the H2 came out in 72. I wanted one really bad, but could never come up with the 500.00 difference....GREAT WORK....Sure glad you didn't let us down by not starting it I was getting worried....Loved the Drive away......Thanks.
What a transformation! Love watching your videos even though I'm a Honda guy! Question: Did Kawasaki powdercoat the frame, side stand etc originally or were they painted? I'm guessing they were painted, but you are powdercoating because it is a more robust finish. Thx!
Need some help , I have a 1972 H1B orange . I think it’s missing CDI parts and I’m thinking about putting a new engine in , has the black pickup’s . Can I sent. Photos so you can explain what I need to do. PS I’m a make it stock guy. I’m only missing head light ears and foot break lever.
Excellent work. Do you have any parts like 75 H2 fuel tank. And appreciate and other advice where I can get parts or who did that amazing seat? I’m redoing a purple 75 H2 💜💜
Super Nice! I ran into one of these on the road one day after I had upgraded myself from the '71 H1 to the green '76 KZ 900. He wanted to race but I chickened out, not wanting to get beat by that scary two stroke. I was a relatively new rider and did not think I could outrace him and I did not want to lose status by having that H2 beat my 'fastest bike on the street'. Maybe next time... Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year, Johnny!
Nice, nice, nice very nice. Lovely job sir! Enjoy your vids very much. Always great work. Wish id bought S1C over GT250 seansons greets from Bristol UK.
I used to have H2b, had to drive across London to Wandsworth daily (20 miles, bike did 11mpg! Aaagh! )Used to do 100mph across London Bridge at 6.30 am!
mint restoration u guys certainly know what its all about....remembering these bikes in early eightys in austraila they where .... wheel standing powerband freaks.....great in a straight line..they would eat the cb honda sevenfifthy four witch was meant to be a superbike???? what a joke????.but very slow compared to fuel injected bikes of today.....have ridern them all over the last 38 years...went back to a slower paced more cruising machine that i own these day 2009 dyna superglide harley
@@Johnnysvintage I think they were added on to later models, maybe '73 on up. The '72 was the most "exhilarating" to ride, they toned the later models down in various ways. I think the dampers were one of the things they did to improve handling.
Better Than New,gorgeous job
This one knocks my socks off.

You do some nice work. I really wanted to hear it run though. My first street bike was a Yamaha RD-250 and I liked the Ring ding sound.
Two exhaust pipes on the right side; one pipe on the left side! This is really cool!
What a blast from the past for me! Love it! You guys are magicians.............
Wow, what a lovely machine, you did it proud

thanks again for sharing with us old guys.
Wow, stunning, great work of one of the most cutest bikes of the 1970s.
Fantastic restoration. Love it. Happy Christmas from Newcastle upon Tyne UK😎
What a beautiful machine. Bravo!
The owner is a very lucky man BEAUTIFUL
How did you get new pipes?
Who did the blue painting and the Kawasaki stickers etc?
Was it re-bored to fit oversize pistons?
We bought the pipes from japan a long time ago as well as we sent the body parts to Japan to be painted
@@Johnnysvintage - thanks for your reply.
That is a beautiful and immaculate job.
A beautiful motorbike, brilliant work.
Amazing! Another rocket back on the road... well done! You guys are awesome!
More 2 stroke restoration for the people!!!!! Beautiful job!
UNA MARAVILLA.

Really lovely work on this fanstatic old bike :):):)
They didn’t look that good brand new. I know. I used to put them together. Excellent restore! Especially to have original pipes!
Wonderful detail! Thanks for sharing your expertise.

AWESOME!! I miss my triples.😰😰😎😎😎😎😎
Sweet bike. I remember those.
VERY nice job on that H2
Original Takasago rims were date specific...very crucial to keep with the bike.
Utterly beautiful
I agree with you....GORGEOUS
Wonderful. Merry Christmas all.
Thank you, Merry Christmas!
Do you work on cb550k
Happy Christmas from Germany to all at Johnnys 🎄. The Bike Looks so Amazing 👍.
Merry Christmas, Wood Carver. Thanks for watching!
is there any cold canadian beer in there
Nice work...
Just amazing!
Nice work... 👍
How much for the restoration? Or is it a case of, if I have to ask, I CAN'T afford it?
it was a lot. We are mainly doing 73-80 900 and 1000's now as the h2 parts are getting harder to find and very expensive
I wanted to hear it run! & that was a nice “ninja” in the background, was it a 900?
Me too. 😃😃😃😃😃
What's that solution you spray on to de oxidise please , you used on On of the bikes you prepared, thanks
We use S100 motorcycle cleaner: ruclips.net/video/4ENfTZS-POg/видео.html
Nice work guys 👍🏼. Love the two strokes ! Would of liked to hear it run !
how much did it cost to rebuild and what was the selling amount?
I’d go for the optional 2nd disc and calliper
its cool to see the guy ive bought alot parts off for my H1
Stephen, thank you for your business
Very clean and nice job I am a 73 purple and orange guy just saying
WHAT??? You did not start it for this video?
Pity we couldn't hear it running after all that?
Hi - Love the video - would it be OK to use it on my Classic2Strokes Facebook page please (obviously will credit/link to you) - many thanks!
Beautiful bike! But, one question: How come no Right Mirror on the completed bike? (I apologize in advance if that questions is stupid.)
Wow that is beautiful. Wish we got to hear run it though!
amazing !!! Mr. John , if you'd tell me that's a new show room bike from 1972 that was brought here in a time machine - i'd believe you !!! :-)
why no sreering damper their was one on bike before restore ?
Good point. We never thought to put one on. It came with two; one on the side and one on the top. It still has one going through the steering stem.
Did the 72 model have the steering damper? My memory probably fails me here, I thought they added those in 73 or something.
@@davidsargee8526 I'm not 100 percent if it was an option or not.
