So the assassin took the sword, the head and went to the king. He said this is the Ganjiang sword, and the head of Ganjiang's son. The king actually dreamed of the boy a while ago and he knew it was Ganjiang's revengeful son and he put a bounty on the boy's head. So the king is relieved to see his nemesis dead. He decided to boil the boy's head to prevent him from resurrecting. And amazingly, the head just managed to stay the same in boiling water. The assassin asked the king to take a closer look, to use his divine power as a king to destroy the head. The king took a closer look, then the assassin cut off the king's head, and his own after that. The three heads were then boiled to the skulls and couldn't tell apart, so the king's court buried them together. And the story is where the poem came from. The swords that cut through mountains and cut off water stream, and end the life of the user and the enemy at the same time.
@@muhammadhazmi3201 Aesthetic perhaps? i dont remember if an "in-lore" answer was ever given for that. I suppose its because that legend is relatively obscure so it fits thematicaly with Archer. @@muhammadhazmi3201 Thematically, probably the tragic "double-edged sword" nature of the blades. Lorewise, low mana cost of projection (spammable), power, utility (always return to each other), and modifiable (overedge).

@@muhammadhazmi3201 It’s because of philosophy and meaning, the swords were never forged with some great destiny in mind or anything like that, the first sword was meant as a gift with a heavy price, the second one was forged from the death of the price’s other half, they are eternally connected but they are completely empty other wise, just like how EMYIA sees himself and shirou, in his mind the swords are very similar to him. This isn't a bad ending. This is a canonical ending where Shirou dies as a badass equal to GArcher. I really hope ufo makes an OVA of this moment as an extra for the movie
TheRobearShow That's the slightly disturbing thing. Almost 40 possible parallel words, and in more than half of them, Shirou fills an emotional connection with the fish he cuts up every morning for breakfast if it were alive as he did it...
That moment after the scene ends and it gets completely silent then proceeds to transition into the ost of ever present feeling is one of the greatest experiences I've ever had playing a visual novel.
KENNETH CABRERA I'm hoping they add it somehow - but I hope they don't replace the "legit"(rider+shirou) method with a modified version of sparks liner. Something about that tragic scene with him on top of her needs to be conveyed in the movie, not replaced with this (awesome) action scene~ "only attack when you are certain it will be successful". Saber drove that into him during their early training. Somehow, despite it being cheap, to kill her as she was out of commission is like respecting her teachings~
I'm unarmed now. The enemy closes in on her unarmed opponent. I charge. - Some of the best aspects of Nasu fight scenes are explained in microcosm right there.
+Zvxman McVongami He didn't. He's still in first person perspective, but he's referring to third person objects. he said "her opponent" because he's describing things as they relate to her. it's about frames of reference. It's grammatically correct, trust me.

JourneyML1 To be fair, Fate and UBW had its own fair share of GAR moments, just that most of them were GAR because of Shirou's thought process, which were always cut out. I.E. - Breaking out of Angra Mainyu's mud through sheer force of will. - Blowing up Kirei's heart and doing his dad proud. - Going toe-to-toe with, and proving Archer wrong in his beliefs. - Hell, his entire fight with Gilgamesh also counts.

TheGeekySkeptic It is most likely an altered part of "Ilya route" that never came into fruition, the scene was just too cool for Nasu to abandon it completely.
I would love to see that route. Firstly because Shinji is a typical kick-the-dog character and wasn't even much of a villain compared to other, more capable antagonists like Kirei or Zouken. I would really like Shinji to be a little more important, a little more ambigious, not an easy-to-make character whose only purpose is to be hated. The second reason is, I really think that Shinji might be an outstanding ally. It is all just a theory, (super-dorky, unreasonable and wishful-thinking based theory) but in UBW Rin mentions that even his remains of magical circuits would aweken if connected to magical equivalent of nuclear reactor ie. Ilya's heart. That would make him capable of doing, well, something to aid Shirou, that would make him a magus. Not to mention he was said to turn into a nicer person after UBW finale (which just *might* have been because his wish was to be able to use magic and it came true thanks to Ilya's heart). He have always been interested in his magical heritage, read magecraft books and inquired about Matou history, and I think he could really mean it when he said to Emiya that he has knowledge of a magus yet no power. Also, in Fate, he used (fake) command spell to attack Emiya with those shadows. They were weak, but it is still awesome that he could cast a spell without using magic circuits , similarily to what Kirei did in fight against Kiritsugu in Fate/Zero. That seems to be quite a skill. In summary: would get more character development, would be justified to ally with Emiya due to being a better person, would possess magic circuits and could be the first Matou in ages to learn magecraft by brain not by body. I would love to see that happen. (But Ilya would have to die early for that so it sucks)

22:30 aka best boi kicks the ass of the unlimited prana Heroic Spirit empowered by her darkest impulses, proving he always was a fucking hero. Don't fuck with the guy whose body is made of swords.
Let me count the ways... -Emiya stopped playing right before the fight started -They completely removed Shirou realizing he needed to kill Berserker in one move or lose -No serious tension of the painful 3-second countdown as Shirou takes aim and waits while Berserker charges towards him -Shirou spinning in front of Berserker for 5 seconds was fucking stupid when the whole point of the fight was "win in an instant or die" It was an intense dramatic moment originally. In the movie it was "look OMG so hype Shirou with a big sword!!!" without ever even acknowledging how absolutely outclassed Shirou was, even with Archer's arm. But hey, flashy lights and big cuts on the ground and fancy spin moves are better, right? *The HF movies were a shitty adaptation. Any VN reader knows this.*
Personally, they have different meanings. Shirou VS Gilgamesh is the culmination of Shirou wanting to prove his ideal is now his own, and not just borrowed from Kiritsugu. Shirou vs Saber is just pure unadulterated awesome.
How can I unlock this scene with the Mighty Wind ost? I tried many times but I just get the scene without the epic ost and with some different sentences. The ending is the same but not the battle :/

So... Shirou actually loses to Alter Saber? What happens after this? I mean, sure he knocked her out of the fight for ten minutes but he dies. He isn't able to finish her. Does she go and help Sakura beat Rin? SOMEONE HELP.
+IchiBanSamuraiTenshi you say that but this is absolutely the only bad ending that does not say "bad" end. it just says "end" kind of leaving the reader to assume if he bought her enough time or not.
Going by the FSN wiki it still considered a bad end though they do note that it is abnormal just saying end. I'm assuming Rin doesn't have enough time to have a heart to heart with Sakura and Saber arrives, although due to it saying End only, it is possible she could have won. I don't know if anyone ever questioned the creator of FSN about that ending. It would be cool to see it animated.
+IchiBanSamuraiTenshi I really do hope they animate that end. though it will likely only be saber vs rider and shirou. my thought is that it only says end because.. yes. shirou dies- but he saves Rin and Sakura. So while it is sad, Shirou fulfilled his dream to become a hero. if everyone died it would be a bad end.

But why did it became shirou's/archer's favourite weapon?
@@muhammadhazmi3201 Aesthetic perhaps? i dont remember if an "in-lore" answer was ever given for that.
I suppose its because that legend is relatively obscure so it fits thematicaly with Archer.
Or perhaps he just liked them because they increased his Magic Resistance and were extra effective against demonic enemies.
Or they looked cool to him, idk.
@@muhammadhazmi3201 Thematically, probably the tragic "double-edged sword" nature of the blades. Lorewise, low mana cost of projection (spammable), power, utility (always return to each other), and modifiable (overedge).
@@ChristheDowned Maybe because just like him, they were surrounded by death and would be surrounded by nothing but death. The swords that killed their wielders and the man, not sent to save people or solve a problem but to kill a problem. Or maybe he was just hoping these blades would somehow bring an end to his suffering, even knowing that death was meaningless to him.
Without true purpose, just a set of Beautiful blades that just exist, they can cut well from their very nature of weapons that come close to the gods, but otherwise they are purposeless and empty. I believe that’s the canon reason, although it’s possible I’m wrong
This isn't a bad ending. This is a canonical ending where Shirou dies as a badass equal to GArcher. I really hope ufo makes an OVA of this moment as an extra for the movie
Well all endings are canonical, even bad endings.
TheRobearShow That's the slightly disturbing thing. Almost 40 possible parallel words, and in more than half of them, Shirou fills an emotional connection with the fish he cuts up every morning for breakfast if it were alive as he did it...
***** He became a vegetable, with no hope of coming back. As a thinking being, he is deader than dead.
***** It wasn't about that. His brain wasn't exploding, his mind was breaking. He collapsed as a thinking being.

That was the most epic scene ever!!!

That moment after the scene ends and it gets completely silent then proceeds to transition into the ost of ever present feeling is one of the greatest experiences I've ever had playing a visual novel.
28:29 Eerie as hell, I remember watching this the first time at night, that SFX along with the "End" screen was pretty spine chilling.

You died.
They better do an ova about this scene or a extra scene in the heaven feel movie.
haha, I totally agree and said the same thing to my friends a while ago!
Though I feel it will be unlikely T_T
Funny they do a bad ova for the persona golden, but not this! I am displeased.
Who knows, they might include it as an extra with the movie blu ray.
KENNETH CABRERA I'm hoping they add it somehow - but I hope they don't replace the "legit"(rider+shirou) method with a modified version of sparks liner. Something about that tragic scene with him on top of her needs to be conveyed in the movie, not replaced with this (awesome) action scene~
"only attack when you are certain it will be successful". Saber drove that into him during their early training. Somehow, despite it being cheap, to kill her as she was out of commission is like respecting her teachings~

Some of the best aspects of Nasu fight scenes are explained in microcosm right there.
+Thalanox U mean how he seamlessly switches between first and third person perspectives?
+Zvxman McVongami He didn't. He's still in first person perspective, but he's referring to third person objects. he said "her opponent" because he's describing things as they relate to her. it's about frames of reference.
It's grammatically correct, trust me.

To be fair, Fate and UBW had its own fair share of GAR moments, just that most of them were GAR because of Shirou's thought process, which were always cut out.

- Breaking out of Angra Mainyu's mud through sheer force of will.
- Blowing up Kirei's heart and doing his dad proud.
- Going toe-to-toe with, and proving Archer wrong in his beliefs.

after all these years, i still cannot think of an end true, good or bad as badass as Sparks Liner High... truly the peak of the light novel
I appreciate that Saber is still willing to give Shirou a chance to save Sakura by fighting her.
It's still epic as always, funny how Nasu worked so hard for an alternate ending that it's not even a "definitive" ending.

TheGeekySkeptic It is most likely an altered part of "Ilya route" that never came into fruition, the scene was just too cool for Nasu to abandon it completely.
Nasu said that a route in which Shirou allied with Shinji agaisnt Rin had a bigger chance of happening.
***** Okay, so let's say that Shiro doesn't approve of killing Ilya, because of his usual let's protect everyone way of living. Does that mean you'll (well, Shiro will) end up "drilling" Shinji in order to "support him with mana"? :D
cibáld meg Shiro? No, not enough mana to compare it to nuclear reaction. Berserker on the other hand...
***** ugh... :DDDDD
25:17 shirou's second use of the word "defenseless"
He just can't help himself
This scene is to all the Shirou haters, I'll overpowered the king of knights in a sword fight even if its gonna cost my life. The most GAR protagonist in the anime universe.
Tailong Well he did overpower the King of Heroes too, so he already accounts as GAR :)
I'd say Simon from TTGL is more GAR, but in a different way.
Tailong Well, he technically _created_ the GAR.
M Only because someone is a fake doesn't mean he can't beat the original.
There are a LOT of badasses in fiction.
Nick Roscher I think you didn't get my comment?...I mean that Shirou created the GAR, because Archer is Shirou and the GAR exists because a guy misspelled "gay" for "gar" when expressing his feelings about Archer.
I just don't get the point of your reply
The Shirou from this ending could probably enter the Throne of Heroes
Except DW won't give us the already 100% confirmed Throne of Heroes Pseudo Servant Muramasa Shirou lol
They're saving him for the full on Shirou vs Saber 2.0 I think. Since the 6th Lostbelts is in Camelot.
Knowing that Muramasa serves to Beast VII we will have to beat the hell out of him

Good. Ufo won't ruin it like some proclaim
@@bl_rose5367 Yeah, they really only care about flashy lights nowadays. Ufo ruined Nine Lives Blade Works.
@@contown731 How? What do you mean they ruined NLBW?
Let me count the ways...
-Emiya stopped playing right before the fight started
-They completely removed Shirou realizing he needed to kill Berserker in one move or lose
-No serious tension of the painful 3-second countdown as Shirou takes aim and waits while Berserker charges towards him
-Shirou spinning in front of Berserker for 5 seconds was fucking stupid when the whole point of the fight was "win in an instant or die"
It was an intense dramatic moment originally. In the movie it was "look OMG so hype Shirou with a big sword!!!" without ever even acknowledging how absolutely outclassed Shirou was, even with Archer's arm. Ufotable, please make this an OVA.
I dont know which one was better, this one ( Shirou vs Saber ) or Shirou vs Gilgamesh? I go for UBW ( Shirou vs Gilgamesh ).
Shirou vs Archer (visual novel) is amazing too.
Personally, they have different meanings.
Shirou VS Gilgamesh is the culmination of Shirou wanting to prove his ideal is now his own, and not just borrowed from Kiritsugu.
Shirou vs Saber is just pure unadulterated awesome.
Shirou Vs archer because he used his own actually used his own magic
I also go for the UBW Shirou vs Gilgamesh one of the best fights in my opinion.

So... Shirou actually loses to Alter Saber? What happens after this? I mean, sure he knocked her out of the fight for ten minutes but he dies. He isn't able to finish her. Does she go and help Sakura beat Rin? SOMEONE HELP.
This is a bad end. Shirou basically becomes a vegetable. Alter Saber heals then goes and joins up with Sakura and they kill Rin.
Josh Evans Rin beats Sakura. Sakura orders saber to destroy the grail. It’s unknown if rin and her live.
