In Köln Marathon,on 06.10.24 I run in 2:48:27. After two weeks on 20.10.24 I run Amsterdam Marathon in 2:45:43. The last two kilometres in Amsterdam Marathon was a hell. I will take your Advice seriously. Thank you.
Awesome work having dropped your marathon time down to 2:45.43, an elite time in my opinion. Keep up the superior work. Cheers from the us state of Michigan
Just wanted to thank you for this video and many of your other videos. I listened to a lot of your advice and ran 2:44:42 at NYC marathon. Looking forward to running even faster at Berlin!
This was very helpful thanks for the insight! My question would be what is the overall mileage range you would want your athletes to shoot for to be able to achieve at sub 2:45 and also to be able to handle these kind of workouts and LR’s? The reason I ask is I am a 38 year old Dad with limited time! Thanks!
Hey @paysonnichols8941 I totally hear where you are coming from. There is no easy way to answer this one especially if you have limited time. I really had to make time decisions when I was serving in the military. My bosses didn't care that I had upcoming races so sometimes that meant 2am long runs while dealing with military field exercises. The fact that you have children and have limited time means you will really need to stay focused with your preparation. A sub 2:45 can be had even in a 12 week build up but won't be easy as 3 months is a short amount of time to build versus say, a 24 week build up. Mileage? Minimum of 50 miles a week and max for most runners between 65 to 80. If one has more time I would recommend 70 to 100 miles a week but again, patience and timing come into play to work your way to this amount of mileage. Hope this helps and wishing you continued success in your training and racing.
Would running on the track be ok to do for your long run? Like running on the outside laps because I think outside laps would be better. Thanks, I appreciate the videos
5K: Approximately 20:41 10K: Approximately 42:00 Half Marathon: Approximately between 1:20 to 1:30 Keep up the superior work! I know you can get that sub 2:45 time.
Thank your for your content! I ran 2:46 in Rotterdam 2023, should I go for sub 2:40 for Boston 2024? what do you think about it? I really appreciate your suggestion.
Congratulations on dropping that superior 2:46. VERY well done. Yes, sub 2:40 at Boston is definitely a legitimate time goal you can achieve and Boston is a great course to go after it on too. Keep up the outstanding work. 2024 is going to be an awesome year for you.

It would be very boring but you can if you want..I'd aim to do the long run on the roads.
Would you do first the 2 mile repeats on a marathon build up, then in the later stage of the build up switch to the mile repeats?
yes, work first on building the endurance then more on the speed
Is there a 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon time you should be at before going for 2:45?
5K: Approximately 20:41
10K: Approximately 42:00
Half Marathon: Approximately between 1:20 to 1:30
Keep up the superior work! I know you can get that sub 2:45 time.
Jack Daniels VDOT formula shows a 5k of 17:10, 10k 35:36 and HM of 1:18:43
