You're absolutely right. There is a magical energy in the City after the sun goes down. Growing up there (Queens) I loved going into Manhattan after hours, and walking around.
love this vlog especially ur trip to New York... and your picture in the museum! :-) I'm sure your losing swing will turn around soon cos you have a the right strategy so don't be too hard on yourself! I really enjoyed the bank roll management part of the vlog; that Kelly Criterion had my brain in knotts!! U shared some great insights which I am ken to take advantage of so thank you & good luck in the live game at hustler!!!
Another great vlog! NYC looks fun. The 4 color deck is a great idea for the cards in the screen. It looks great and makes it much easier to follow. And once again, the occasional use of the solver to check out some spots is wonderful. It gets us thinking about what questions to ask ourselves before betting or calling.
Just don’t give up. It takes time to winning money and learning poker strategy at the same time. Don’t carry big bank roll at this time. Losing 3K-5K is not end of the world. LeXoPoker started out small bank roll when he started his blog five years ago and now he is in another level after these years of watching him. You will do better, it is just a matter of time…
Good luck on HCL! (If it hasn’t been streamed/recorded already; since they had that YT ban fiasco last week and not sure when you actually recorded this blog). Your concept on bankroll management is very interesting. 🤔. I know this channel will blowup. 🙂
AKss on 996r flop (9:40) is a spicy one.. your price on a call is $980 to win $3505, so u need 27.96% equity to call (a good chunk lower than 33%). If villain shows u QQ/JJ/TT u are ever so slightly too deep to call, because u only have 27.68% equity against them. Roughly speaking, 6 outs to a pair, 6•4 = 24%, plus 36/990 decent backdoor flush runouts for another 3.7% on top. (Qs/Js/Ts is either in opp’s hand, or will boat them up and make our flush useless). So I guess if they have even slightly more bluffs than AA/KK/A9/9x, you can call? Great vlog as always, NYC looked sick!
Hi 👋.. thx for showing us “Ny”!! I’m originally from ny and NJ.. so it’s so nice to see the big city again!! Stay strong 💪 you’ll get them next time.. and Thx for the tip for bankroll management!!
Are my settings messed up? I only hear your voice in my left side. Music in the right. If that’s intentional I’m not sure I dig it. Would prefer more balanced audio. Other than that, great vlog as always.
Loved the hero and villain images. With all the vlogs out there it's nice to see something original! Also liked the images of New York. Makes me more excited about my trip in November.
I wonder about that AK suited hand. Ive seen players do this with TT-QQ when the flop comes out low cards, but I’ve also seen people do this with draws and even A high holdings. You’re about 28% equity to anything with value and you need about 33%, but I wonder if there’s enough frequency of nonsense to adjust.
Fairly sure the solver thinks spades should more often raise the flop on a stone bluff while backdoors float instead, so when you bet Kc9d you'll get blown off your equity by a raise more often. It's very much a solver vs solver thing, I think most pros play it like you did and it's generally fine at these stakes.
I have enjoyed all your videos and your progress as a vlogger. Graphics have definitely improved. Do you have a favorite app for recording hand histories or maybe the old Jonathan Little notebook method?
Hey Jenny, I used to play 10-10 at Parx every week and currently play 5-10 at Borgata (when it goes). I just stumbled upon your vlog. Good stuff! I “subbed”! Enjoy your time in NY! Happy grinding! - Larry
@@ambientexpanse I don’t know you but I haven’t played below 2-5 since 2006 and play higher whenever the game goes unless it looks horrible. So….who are you again?
Hey Jenny - what is your process for figuring out WHY the solver is doing a certain thing? I know you explained it on a couple hands but I'm just wondering how you come up with the explanation aside from just what the output says?
Good question. I look at what my opponent’s optimal action against me after I take a certain action. Ie if the solver is saying I should bluff raise something I thought was unexpected, I look at what kinds of hands they have that would be folding to the bluff raise. Similarly if it’s telling me to slow play I see what hands my opponent wants to bet as value or bluff when I take a passive action. Of course I can’t remember this exact spot but I see trends and that helps me frame my thinking in future spots.
Please correct me if I am wrong but it seems using session win percentage as part of the formula is flawed. Plenty of player have a playing style where they book small wins vs big losses. Plenty of losing players who win 55% plus of their overall sessions. Is there a way to use BB win rate in your formula you described? Love the vlog, enjoy your vacation to Hawaii!
Yes that’s right. I wouldn’t say flawed but this is a simplification. I would say if you’re playing a strategy where you leave after booking small wins and don’t leave until you’ve dusted a lot then you need to be aware of that when using this formula especially because that signifies a losing player and then the calculator doesn’t spit out anything meaningful. For someone who obviously understands how complex and nuanced this could get, you could think about using combination of win rate and the odds (ie not using 1 in the denominator as a simplification). For example, if I reversed your scenario above to make it about a profitable player that books bigger wins that losses then you could make the denominator a multiplier that is proportional to the size of your win vs size of your loss. Eg your average win is 2000 and your average loss is 1000. Then put 2 in the denominator. Note this is an extreme example. You can see the effect it has that it makes the % of bankroll you can commit much larger. This is the best approximation if you have a handle on your average win / loss size. The reason you can’t use bb win rate or long term ROI is because this is long term value ie you’re “guaranteed” to make this over the long run but if you want to put that in the formula you need to put 100% as the win likelihood. And then the formula spits out buying in at full bankroll each time because it’s expecting you to make your bb win rate or ROI each time which isn’t true on a session by session basis. This is why you always have to have a reasonable assumption for the win / loss likelihood and why using BB win rate or long term ROI won’t make sense.
I genuinely have enjoyed your vlogs, the best regs in Vegas are not playing 10-20 Wynn I can assure you of that. It is a tough game but you’re mostly playing 50nl reg euros, some whales and some American live grinders. There are no killers at 10-20 Wynn, prob 0 of the top 25 Vegas cash regs are Wynn 10-20 regs. I think you’re significantly better than any vlogger I’ve seen except gazzy b and if you keep grinding GTO wiz to review and play online to hone skills you will crush, no doubt about it, gl
You seem like a scholarly person. Are there any books that you have used or recommend to learn the language and how to strategize your poker play. Thanks.
I started out reading Dan Harrington’s books and some Jonathan Little as well. Nowadays I predominantly use tech but I would say the fundamentals in those books still apply!
Why are you flying Spirit Airlines? You're a first class poker player and have a executive professional career. You deserve to treat yourself to a comparable airline, coach or maybe even Business Class. Good vlog.
Was it a big shift in your study/approach when you moved up or would you say they are still applicable? I’ve been studying diligently but it seems to always be multiway pots at these stakes.
Both of your AQc and AQd hands you played them same bet the flop then checked the turn which were big mistakes telling them ok I don't have any of that, you have to double barrel or triple. People perceive turn check as a weakness.. I like your blog because they are not handpicked winning hands rather more like what really happens, AK in tournament is very easy to play preflop but in cash it's only a drawing hand and most people lose big in cash with old timers like me won't lose big. Saving is winning too. As you play poker you'll need to fine-tune your skills/knowledge which takes years, so hang in there plug some wholes as you go. Definitely watch the stream.
