I think stop researching is one of your best tips for me. I have been struggling with information overload, too many differing opinions on what is the right diet. This has me flip-flopping on my strategies and never really getting anywhere, actually gaining weight instead. I nearly started a similar site as yours but I felt the backlash from "mainliners" would intimidate me into quitting. I noticed the comments below and realized that more folks have supported your endeavor than I thought possible. My story is one year of intermittent fasting without keto or firm diet has resulted in the weight loss I needed. In fact, my 22/2 schedule is perfect for me and I will continue it for the rest of my life. I only change the calories per day to either maintain or lose during a given timeframe. By the way, I'm 80 years old and feel much younger and have never worried about longevity only being my best and being capable of change. Thank you for your efforts !

@@ninahajj4695 Nina, there are many such schedules from 16/8 to One Meal a Day (OMAD). I started having three meals a day with 18/6 and gradually cut it down to an eating window of two hours from 3 to 5 in the afternoon. It works for me and only occasionally do I not have time to eat my 1200 to 1500 calories during that period. By the way, remaining flexible is the key I believe. The goal is to start fasting in the evening, sleep 7-8 hours and fast during the day until the eating window. You have to keep hydrated and supplement with vitamins and minerals, but I found it easy after about three days or so. By the way, the calories are made up of 60% fat, 20% carbs and 20% protein on my diet but can be arranged in many ways. Personally, I try to watch the carbs on the nutritional labels and eat less than 125 grams per day. I've maintained my weight by understanding that carbs are the problem and for me avoiding "white colored foods" i.e. sugar, bread, rice, and potatoes is the key. You might Google "Autophagy" or "Dr. Jason Fung" for an analysis of the methodology. Lastly, I have avoided "Ketosis" due to its complexity and side effects. I hope this helps. Good Luck

I like how genuine she is - have watched 30 or so of her videos and is always full of nuggets of useful info. Much against her advice , hers besides Dr.Fung was the channel I watch on IF while I am doing this. I feel inspired watching her interviews with people who have lost weight through IF and are happy!! The most critical part of IF is the journey and it should make you happy - not just with the result, but the fullness of life that one is able to get to once they get on this journey. She always calls this out.

I started on a low carb, high fat regime. Found myself feeling better each passing day. IF became easy to fall into with this. Cutting back sugar was my main goal. And I’ve done this. So over a month of an intense (for me) Keto regime, I realised that with the amount of travel I do and work lunches, I had to work out a way I could still lose weight slowly and eat healthy. Welcome to the world of IF. I usually stop eating at 8pm until 12pm the next day. And this works for me. I’m not watching the scales. I’ve had eating disorders in the past and I’m mindful of becoming fixated on numbers. So I just monitor what clothes start to fit better and my general feeling of wellness. It’s true that so many people talk about losing over 50kg etc with Keto and IF. But that is their unique journey. My Journey is mine alone, so I need to listen to my own body.

I am watching this 3 years after you have published it and just at the point where I had decided to started intermittent fasting and you make a lot of sense thank you.
People need to turn their gadgets and tv off and go to bed by 10pm so they won't eat so much. I can IF easier simply by not eating after 7PM, going to bed by 9:30PM & eating my "breakfast" at 11AM the next day. That's an easy 16 hours of fasting. Do what works for you & stick with it.
Michelle's Weight Loss Journey - I didn't realize that last snack at night was messing me up so bad! When I found out why by watching an intermittent fasting video, I was happy to give up my night snack. I also do the 16 hrs.
@@sheley3236 Yep! You got it! Basically eating twice a day. Eating your 'Brunch' at 11 and then dinner 4 hours later. Your last meal should be 3 hours before bedtime.

I love this video, and I needed it more than you know. I constantly compare my results to others on keto and intermittent fasting and feel always like I’m doing something wrong. There are 1000 RUclips or’s out there stating that their way is the best way. It’s easy to second-guess yourself. I love your channel because of your positive attitude or you don’t tear anyone’s ideas down. Today I am documenting an attempt at 24 hour fast. I have been having a lot of issues past the 18 hour mark because my blood sugar dropped dangerously low. Once a month I tried 24 hour fast and each time my blood sugar gets better and better. I started out with 12 hours then went to 13 then went to 14 so on and so forth. Currently I am comfortably fasting at 18 hours a day. I have stalled for the last six weeks.
That is great. That's how I did it too: I pushed my window out very very very gradually. Just listen to your body and have patience. You're doing great!
Thanks for this video, Kayla. You pulled together a lot of the concerns I've had floating around in my head. I have been OMAD since August, and have slowly and steadily lost 30 pounds. But I still eat carbs and have been beating myself up about it, even though I feel great, not deprived. Finally! Someone who thinks the same as me about intermittent fasting. I adapted my routine to fit MY LIFE. I am up each day at 5:00 a.m. my first food is at 9:00 a.m and I don't eat after 5:00 p.m. On weekends I may go as long as 20 hrs. of fast if I feel like it or just stick with 16. I have been doing it for only about a week or so, but so far it fits me just fine. This is something I feel I could do the rest of my life
I'm with you. I have my first food at 9 A.M. and don't eat after 5:00 P.M. It is working out just fine after trial and error for the first few weeks. I did have some sleepless nights when I got SO hungry but I fought it and it is going to work out fine now. This plan has given me a mental boost and I hope it works out for you. Cheers!
I have just started intermittent fasting here in the UK. I have been watching all your broadcasts, what a love about them the most is your honesty so please don't change that. I started the OMAD approach my husband thinks I am crazy but supports my choice, the man is a scheduled eater lol. I found the first few days pretty easy going, I loved the fact there was no calorie counting , no syncs, no Marcos, just your choice in the evenings as to what you wanted to eat. Thank god I watched your video today, I was struggling with no milk in my tea seemed to help me stay full during the day. But then another site said no milk , so I stopped big mistake I found myself hungry . So guess what taking your advice Whatever gets me through the day lol. Many thanks don't change your approach.

I’m on day 2 of doing intermittent fasting and I already feel better. I’m trying to do 16 and 8 but am at like about 14 and 9 which seems to be ok but will keep trying do the best I can and not overdue it. I’m 6’2 260 lbs already lost 5 lbs. I’ve always worked out and had good willpower but I’ve been addicted to food too the more I work out the more I eat. This program is the first that I can actually seem to follow so far because the rules are so simple and the community here on RUclips is great and has been so helpful. I think you hit the nail on the head. When you've been overweight for a long time, you find something easy like IF and go "There is no way I can lose all this weight with just that." then you overcomplicate it, and then you fail. I remember feeling such guilt back in the day in previous attempts "Oh, I can't have all this sugar!!" then I threw it away and regretted every cent spent on the food I used to love... do really great for like 2 weeks, then one night out with friends eating pizza and the whole "plan" falls on it's face. If you can't live with your fitness/diet plan the rest of your life, it's not worth doing.

I've been binge-watching your videos for a few hours now and it definitely is the best RUclips channel I have found on all this. I couldn't agree more about getting stressed out by all the different opinions of everyone saying do this and do that and this worked for me and that didn't work for me and on and on and on. But looking back all of those things gave me a lot of knowledge of do's and don'ts of what I need to personally do for best results.
Have been doing this for just over two weeks & have lost 11 pounds & change. Surprised at how well this works for me. Information overload is a totally true statement. No 2 "experts" have the same information so it can be confusing. You're right- Just keep it simple and it will work. And I use a fitbit charge 3 to help encourage me to move more & track my weight & sleep.
@@nehamahajan794 Mostly doing that. Sometimes I'm just not hungry until the 19-20hr, or even longer. I'm eating smaller amounts (getting full faster). I cut out the sugar and eating low carb. 0-10 grams a day.

I noticed as i travel this one meal a day journey, I have consistently improved my eating in general, much healthier now than at the beginning. I always have wanted to eat healthier, but it seemed sooooo veerrrrry hard, until the intermittent fasting. It seems to give me so much more willpower over my food choices. And i love that you are practical and do not treat your eating choices as if it is a religion, I see so many ppl acting like the way they eat has become their religion. i just want ppl to understand they can be healthier and there are plenty of us out here wiling to help them and not judge them. LOVE!!! Wow thank you SO MUCH!! I just started IF and I've been on 16:8 for 3 weeks. Today was the first day that I came to the end of my fast not STARVING lol. Your video was so wonderful to hear, I've been listening to a few nutritionists who have had some good advice, but some of their advice has caused me issues... Like calorie restrictions that have just made me sick, hungry and shaky all day. One of the things that has helped both my Mom and I A LOT is a glass of lemon water first thing every morning. It helps me with the hunger and I can push back my coffee until 11 so I can have it how I like it (with milk and sugar lol keto coffee almost made me barf).
Since Six Miles to Supper asked, I love your video. My tip to make IF easier is to eat the same thing every day when you break your fast, or a series of things in same sequence. Eat low-carb, healthy foods that you want to be sure not to miss eating, and keep it very routine so you don't get too creative and eat more calories or carbs than you intend. For me, it's peanut butter on celery and baby carrots with hummus every day around 5 pm, with a mug of green tea. And then following that, a short break and then half cup frozen blueberries with about 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt and a tablespoon of chia seeds. I have these for appetizers while I start cooking dinner and then I go on to eat whatever dinner I want an hour or so later, no real restrictions. But by breaking the fast with a low-carb snack sequence and never varying what that is, it takes the guesswork out of it and prevents me from just munching on whatever is around and losing track of what I eat, which can be an issue for me if I've gone all day without eating and get in a mindset that I have to "be sure to get enough to eat."

What helps me with IF? I do my fast from 10am to 6pm. I want to go to bed on an empty stomach because it's harder to fall asleep on a full stomach. Remembering this makes it easier for me to stop eating no later than 6pm because I want to have a good sleep. Then in the morning, I put myself into a state of gratitude knowing that I no longer believe I have to eat first thing in the morning, but rather, that I am free to immediately start getting things done that I need to do that day. Life is so much easier this way. Preparing food first thing in the morning is a hassle and a waste of time. I am not a slave to three meals a day; I am a free man. I love your suggestion to do an information fast. At some point a person just has to stop trying to dig deeper and just do it. The basics are pretty easy to understand, and too much information can be a distraction.
I think so many of us can relate to this video. When we set out to take on something that is new ground we research like crazy, I'm definitely guilty of it as well. I, much like you, have simplified my daily routine...no more countless podcasts in the morning. I literally only watch a handful of IF & keto channels anymore & it's perfect. I'm crazy selective about the information I intake now, great channel!

I watched one episode on Fledge Fitness ' channel about autophagy and immediately went into a 20 hour fast on July 10 2018. I've been fasting every single day since. I love it.
This is a fantastic video. Kayla is giving very sage advice. And it doesn't just apply to IF - it could be applied to so many aspects of life. IF will help you lose weight and if you want to stick to a diet during the eating window, IF WILL unlock the power of that diet. But make it easy and simple on yourself. Find what works for you within the IF framework. That's the key to longevity, and ultimately, permanent success.

Really loved your video, made sense. The other thing that has worked for me is the less I think about food, the more successful I am with IF. Also, limiting sugar, alcohol, white carbs helps in general, whether IF or not. I am also vegan and I may not lose weight just because of that, but since I stopped eating copious amounts of cheese, losing weight is easier with IF. Personally I like late dinners (around 10pm), so I've adjusted eating habits to accommodate that. Having 1 day/week off IF is also extremely valuable. The less we have to change our lives, the more successful we shall be

Today is my second day of intermittent fasting and I love it. I also have been making healthier meals for me. Drinking unsweet tea during fast and coffee.
I needed this video!! I happily do OMAD everyday, I enjoy it and it suits me. But then I started watching RUclips videos on why OMAD isn't enough, that you should be doing Keto as well, no carbs, to drink apple cider vinegar etc, etc. I then tired to do all that and ended up just been really miserable and because I found it hard doing keto and did not enjoy it at all, so i ended up giving it all up, even doing OMAD! I watched this video and realised, me doing my own thing (OMAD and eating all the carbs I want in that hour) was enough and I enjoyed it. So thank you! Xxx

Thank you so much for your videos. I started IF at the beginning of this month and I have been tweeking it. Since my kids get back from school between 3 and 4pm and I am a night eater, I put my eating window at 3-9pm. I start making food at 3pm, so I have my own meal at 3 and then cook for others. That way, while they are in school, there are no foods in sight and I am also full while I’m cooking. My plan is to stop eating at 9 but sometimes I go beyond 9 cos of schedule problems. I plan to push it to btwn 4 and 10pm. But so far I’m enjoying it.
First video I watch for you, the topic got my attention. I hardly had weight issues over the years till the last few years (58 years now) I put on few kgs and finding it very hard to lose. Two years ago I tried a version of keto with IF (following mostly Dr Berg), but my cholesterol got worse and my Dr suggested Mediterranean diet. Though I usually am healthy and exercised I turned to have high cholesterol, which the Dr said could be family related. So now I find myself lost and in middle of nowhere, not knowing what is right. I somehow still follow IF since I find it easy, I stop after my last meal and eat the next day between 2 - 4 pm. In between I try to watch my carbs though not totally cut. But still can't lose even 1 kg and keep off, though I'm mostly looking to lose mostly 4 kgs. Will watch some of your videos in the hope of finding some inspiring tricks.
I hope my videos are helpful. If you only have a little weight to lose (say less than 20 pounds), and you're at a normal BMI, I've found the weight comes off very slowly! (I lost my last 17 pounds at a rate of one third of one pound per week).

It's going good so far. I had a few issues but nothing to extremely difficult. I like OMAD. It works for me. But with diabetes I must eat something. My blood sugar has come down a lot. Yeah.
Just found your channel. Been intermittent fasting for 1 year 5 months. Really happy with this method of health and weight loss. I'm also a girl who walks. Nothing like 6 miles but it's a fairly regular habit and your 6 miles a day gives me the push to do more.

Thanks. I tend to be nauseous in the morning. So mostly, I've eaten 2 meals just to manage that. Maybe it is actually natural for my body to do well on 2 meals a day with a longer time between. I stopped eating candy a few weeks ago. That was a binge food for me - I'd just keep on eating it. I like the idea that I can ease my way into this. I am taking ACV + honey in h2o and also coconut oil twice a day to help with problems. One factor for me is varying times and degrees of pain which really mess up my sleep schedule. I basicly have none. I'm thinking if I give myself an 8 hour window to eat and fast for 16 hours - whenever it happens this will allow me to do this. I just have to note how many hours of fast and the time of day the eating window happens. Just roll with it.
What a God send your channel has been finding it tonight!! I’m not even what they consider obese but I’ve put on some stomach fat and I’m small and so really want to lose this and for the first time in my life I’ve felt like IF could work (been tying unsustainable diets last couple years). But watching all the videos made it confusing for me!! Do I have to do Keto? How long a window? Are carbs really bad now? How do I get my calories in? Is my metabolism going to slow down? You have give me such an ease to start doing this the EASIEST WAY POSSIBLE. Very well said. This is good advice for believers too. It's really easy to follow Jesus and accept the good news, but we often think we have to do something difficult to gain salvation. Sometimes we have to ask ourselves, "Why are you making this so hard?"

I went for IF 8 weeks back , haven't felt better all over my life, I was losing weight slowly but was happy about it as mentally I feel great, was thinking to make it harder and try applying 36 hr or more till I found your channel! Yoir advice is so valuable , I turned to think now why u should do this , make it easy and it will not harm to lose weight in few more months other than losing it now as simply I want to be on IF for all my life with exceptions for sure , I am in my 30th and I feel I took the right decision for my health till I get old and die, I want my life journey to be healthy. I’m doing an 18 hour fast on MWF and this is week two. Going well so far and it’s nice knowing I don’t have to rush to get breakfast for myself as well as the children on these days. Also I am finding I am not as hungry toward the end of my fast this week. Looking forward to increasing the days and hours as time progresses.
Thank you so much for providing such inspiration! I have lost 50 pounds by doing OMAD with keto. Most days I have kale and cabbage salad with some type of protein, some cheese, other veggies, and homemade vinaigrette. It has actually been very easy and I feel very good after this type of salad. The fast until the next day is also easy…but I didn’t want to give up pasta, potatoes, chocolate, etc forever. Anyways, I decided to have a free day yesterday and had some macaroni and cheese and a TJ’s peanut butter cup in addition to a half of a ribeye and some veggies. I thought I had really blown it. I ended up still having a very easy fast with no hunger and no additional cravings for carbs or sugar. And I still lost 0.2 pounds. Thanks for this video. I’m currently in the bubbles of research and need to just start. I’m going to take your advice and start small. And work my way up. Makes a lot of sense to lose weight over a longer time to form a habit. It took a long time to gain and should take some time to lose. Thanks.
I do one meal every three days and on the day I eat I never call it my "cheat" day. I always call it my treat day and keep it positive. I was doing OMAD with keto but I wasn't losing weight. So I just added a couple of days to my fasting window..72 hours.. and added the Snake juice like Cole Robinson said and it made it so much easier...but I also have my one cup of coffee...sometimes two cups with heavy cream cause it gets me through the morning. Dr. Jason Fung said it was okay to have coffee with cream as it doesn't break your fast. I think it works since I've lost 20 pounds in the last 2 months and I could not lose weight to save my life before even on keto omad. I don't over think it. I just do it. I eat whatever I want and when I'm done, I'm done.
Your philosophy really speaks to me. I'm going on an information fast NOW except for you. I know IF works for me and I need to stop watching countless YT videos that are tempting me to make things too hard!
Thank you so much for this video I have been on Keto for two weeks and I am so confused by what everyone is saying. I have been doing intermittent fasting and one person says to do this and another says to do that. After your video I think I am going to do it my way. Just" let it happen "as a friend of mine said to me years ago. And learning how to take a quiet stand when it comes to your eating. For example, saying things like"I'm full, can't eat anymore." I'm not ready to eat yet, thanks. Truly it is your own addiction that you are trying to conquer plus the push back from those you care about that can make it difficult. You do have to be strong and even willing to risk hurt feelings if you want to succeed.
I think it's important for everyone to find that right balance. For me, there are times when it's more important to me to eat lunch with family or friends, even if that conflicts with OMAD. This approach has helped make intermittent fasting a sustainable way of life for me, for years now. (:

I think stop researching is one of your best tips for me. I have been struggling with information overload, too many differing opinions on what is the right diet. This has me flip-flopping on my strategies and never really getting anywhere, actually gaining weight instead. I nearly started a similar site as yours but I felt the backlash from "mainliners" would intimidate me into quitting. I noticed the comments below and realized that more folks have supported your endeavor than I thought possible. My story is one year of intermittent fasting without keto or firm diet has resulted in the weight loss I needed. In fact, my 22/2 schedule is perfect for me and I will continue it for the rest of my life. I only change the calories per day to either maintain or lose during a given timeframe. By the way, I'm 80 years old and feel much younger and have never worried about longevity only being my best and being capable of change. Thank you for your efforts !

@@ninahajj4695 Nina, there are many such schedules from 16/8 to One Meal a Day (OMAD). I started having three meals a day with 18/6 and gradually cut it down to an eating window
of two hours from 3 to 5 in the afternoon. It works for me and only occasionally do I not have time to eat my 1200 to 1500 calories during that period. By the way, remaining flexible is the key I believe. The goal is to start fasting in the evening, sleep 7-8 hours and fast during the day until the eating window. You have to keep hydrated and supplement
with vitamins and minerals, but I found it easy after about three days or so. By the way, the calories are made up of 60% fat, 20% carbs and 20% protein on my diet but can be arranged in many ways. Personally, I try to watch the carbs on the nutritional labels and eat less than 125 grams per day. I've maintained my weight by understanding that carbs
are the problem and for me avoiding "white colored foods" i.e. sugar, bread, rice, and potatoes is the key. You might Google "Autophagy" or "Dr. Jason Fung" for an analysis of the methodology. Lastly, I have avoided "Ketosis" due to its complexity and side effects. I hope this helps. Good Luck

I like how genuine she is - have watched 30 or so of her videos and is always full of nuggets of useful info. Much against her advice , hers besides Dr.Fung was the channel I watch on IF while I am doing this. I feel inspired watching her interviews with people who have lost weight through IF and are happy!!
The most critical part of IF is the journey and it should make you happy - not just with the result, but the fullness of life that one is able to get to once they get on this journey. She always calls this out.

I started on a low carb, high fat regime. Found myself feeling better each passing day. IF became easy to fall into with this. Cutting back sugar was my main goal. And I’ve done this. So over a month of an intense (for me) Keto regime, I realised that with the amount of travel I do and work lunches, I had to work out a way I could still lose weight slowly and eat healthy.
Welcome to the world of IF. I usually stop eating at 8pm until 12pm the next day. And this works for me. I’m not watching the scales. I’ve had eating disorders in the past and I’m mindful of becoming fixated on numbers. So I just monitor what clothes start to fit better and my general feeling of wellness.
It’s true that so many people talk about losing over 50kg etc with Keto and IF. But that is their unique journey. My Journey is mine alone, so I need to listen to my own body.

People need to turn their gadgets and tv off and go to bed by 10pm so they won't eat so much. I can IF easier simply by not eating after 7PM, going to bed by 9:30PM & eating my "breakfast" at 11AM the next day. That's an easy 16 hours of fasting. Do what works for you & stick with it.

I love this video, and I needed it more than you know. I constantly compare my results to others on keto and intermittent fasting and feel always like I’m doing something wrong. There are 1000 RUclips or’s out there stating that their way is the best way. It’s easy to second-guess yourself. I love your channel because of your positive attitude or you don’t tear anyone’s ideas down. Today I am documenting an attempt at 24 hour fast. I have been having a lot of issues past the 18 hour mark because my blood sugar dropped dangerously low. Once a month I tried 24 hour fast and each time my blood sugar gets better and better. I started out with 12 hours then went to 13 then went to 14 so on and so forth. Currently I am comfortably fasting at 18 hours a day. I have stalled for the last six weeks.
That is great. That's how I did it too: I pushed my window out very very very gradually. Just listen to your body and have patience. You're doing great!
Thanks for this video, Kayla. You pulled together a lot of the concerns I've had floating around in my head. I have been OMAD since August, and have slowly and steadily lost 30 pounds. But I still eat carbs and have been beating myself up about it, even though I feel great, not deprived. Finally! Someone who thinks the same as me about intermittent fasting. I adapted my routine to fit MY LIFE. I am up each day at 5:00 a.m. my first food is at 9:00 a.m and I don't eat after 5:00 p.m. On weekends I may go as long as 20 hrs. of fast if I feel like it or just stick with 16. I have been doing it for only about a week or so, but so far it fits me just fine. This is something I feel I could do the rest of my life
I'm with you. I have my first food at 9 A.M. and don't eat after 5:00 P.M. It is working out just fine after trial and error for the first few weeks. I did have some sleepless nights when I got SO hungry but I fought it and it is going to work out fine now. This plan has given me a mental boost and I hope it works out for you. Cheers!
I have just started intermittent fasting here in the UK. I have been watching all your broadcasts, what a love about them the most is your honesty so please don't change that. I started the OMAD approach my husband thinks I am crazy but supports my choice, the man is a scheduled eater lol. I found the first few days pretty easy going, I loved the fact there was no calorie counting , no syncs, no Marcos, just your choice in the evenings as to what you wanted to eat. Thank god I watched your video today, I was struggling with no milk in my tea seemed to help me stay full during the day. But then another site said no milk , so I stopped big mistake I found myself hungry . So guess what taking your advice Whatever gets me through the day lol. Many thanks don't change your approach.

I’m on day 2 of doing intermittent fasting and I already feel better. I’m trying to do 16 and 8 but am at like about 14 and 9 which seems to be ok but will keep trying do the best I can and not overdue it. I’m 6’2 260 lbs already lost 5 lbs. I’ve always worked out and had good willpower but I’ve been addicted to food too the more I work out the more I eat. This program is the first that I can actually seem to follow so far because the rules are so simple and the community here on RUclips is great and has been so helpful. I think you hit the nail on the head. When you've been overweight for a long time, you find something easy like IF and go "There is no way I can lose all this weight with just that." then you overcomplicate it, and then you fail. I remember feeling such guilt back in the day in previous attempts "Oh, I can't have all this sugar!!" then I threw it away and regretted every cent spent on the food I used to love... do really great for like 2 weeks, then one night out with friends eating pizza and the whole "plan" falls on it's face.
If you can't live with your fitness/diet plan the rest of your life, it's not worth doing.
Thank you! Yours is a very simple but powerful message. I over research everything which causes conflict and time wasting. Your advice to concentrate on oneself is a much more peaceful, deliberate way to go.

I've been binge-watching your videos for a few hours now and it definitely is the best RUclips channel I have found on all this. I couldn't agree more about getting stressed out by all the different opinions of everyone saying do this and do that and this worked for me and that didn't work for me and on and on and on. But looking back all of those things gave me a lot of knowledge of do's and don'ts of what I need to personally do for best results.

Have been doing this for just over two weeks & have lost 11 pounds & change. Surprised at how well this works for me. Information overload is a totally true statement. No 2 "experts" have the same information so it can be confusing. You're right- Just keep it simple and it will work. And I use a fitbit charge 3 to help encourage me to move more & track my weight & sleep.

@@nehamahajan794 Mostly doing that. Sometimes I'm just not hungry until the 19-20hr, or even longer. I'm eating smaller amounts (getting full faster). I cut out the sugar and eating low carb. 0-10 grams a day.

Hey Kayla, I really enjoy your videos. You are down to earth and help ppl understand that you can relax in this venture of wt. loss and being patient is the goal to achieving long lasting results. I noticed as i travel this one meal a day journey, I have consistently improved my eating in general, much healthier now than at the beginning. I always have wanted to eat healthier, but it seemed sooooo veerrrrry hard, until the intermittent fasting. It seems to give me so much more willpower over my food choices. And i love that you are practical and do not treat your eating choices as if it is a religion, I see so many ppl acting like the way they eat has become their religion. i just want ppl to understand they can be healthier and there are plenty of us out here wiling to help them and not judge them. LOVE!!! Wow thank you SO MUCH!! I just started IF and I've been on 16:8 for 3 weeks. Today was the first day that I came to the end of my fast not STARVING lol. Your video was so wonderful to hear, I've been listening to a few nutritionists who have had some good advice, but some of their advice has caused me issues... Like calorie restrictions that have just made me sick, hungry and shaky all day. One of the things that has helped both my Mom and I A LOT is a glass of lemon water first thing every morning. It helps me with the hunger and I can push back my coffee until 11 so I can have it how I like it (with milk and sugar lol keto coffee almost made me barf).
Since Six Miles to Supper asked, I love your video. My tip to make IF easier is to eat the same thing every day when you break your fast, or a series of things in same sequence. Eat low-carb, healthy foods that you want to be sure not to miss eating, and keep it very routine so you don't get too creative and eat more calories or carbs than you intend. For me, it's peanut butter on celery and baby carrots with hummus every day around 5 pm, with a mug of green tea. And then following that, a short break and then half cup frozen blueberries with about 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt and a tablespoon of chia seeds. I have these for appetizers while I start cooking dinner and then I go on to eat whatever dinner I want an hour or so later, no real restrictions. But by breaking the fast with a low-carb snack sequence and never varying what that is, it takes the guesswork out of it and prevents me from just munching on whatever is around and losing track of what I eat, which can be an issue for me if I've gone all day without eating and get in a mindset that I have to "be sure to get enough to eat."

Gosh I needed this. Totally appreciate the information overload , that is what I do and haven't been consistent in a while because of it. Great information.
What helps me with IF? I do my fast from 10am to 6pm. I want to go to bed on an empty stomach because it's harder to fall asleep on a full stomach. Remembering this makes it easier for me to stop eating no later than 6pm because I want to have a good sleep.
Then in the morning, I put myself into a state of gratitude knowing that I no longer believe I have to eat first thing in the morning, but rather, that I am free to immediately start getting things done that I need to do that day. Life is so much easier this way. Preparing food first thing in the morning is a hassle and a waste of time. I am not a slave to three meals a day; I am a free man.
I love your suggestion to do an information fast. At some point a person just has to stop trying to dig deeper and just do it. The basics are pretty easy to understand, and too much information can be a distraction.

I think so many of us can relate to this video. When we set out to take on something that is new ground we research like crazy, I'm definitely guilty of it as well. I, much like you, have simplified my daily routine...no more countless podcasts in the morning. I literally only watch a handful of IF & keto channels anymore & it's perfect. I'm crazy selective about the information I intake now, great channel!

This is a fantastic video. Kayla is giving very sage advice. And it doesn't just apply to IF - it could be applied to so many aspects of life. IF will help you lose weight and if you want to stick to a diet during the eating window, IF WILL unlock the power of that diet. But make it easy and simple on yourself. Find what works for you within the IF framework. That's the key to longevity, and ultimately, permanent success.

Really loved your video, made sense. The other thing that has worked for me is the less I think about food, the more successful I am with IF. Also, limiting sugar, alcohol, white carbs helps in general, whether IF or not. I am also vegan and I may not lose weight just because of that, but since I stopped eating copious amounts of cheese, losing weight is easier with IF. Personally I like late dinners (around 10pm), so I've adjusted eating habits to accommodate that. Having 1 day/week off IF is also extremely valuable. The less we have to change our lives, the more successful we shall be

Today is my second day of intermittent fasting and I love it. I also have been making healthier meals for me. Drinking unsweet tea during fast and coffee.
I needed this video!! I happily do OMAD everyday, I enjoy it and it suits me. But then I started watching RUclips videos on why OMAD isn't enough, that you should be doing Keto as well, no carbs, to drink apple cider vinegar etc, etc. I then tired to do all that and ended up just been really miserable and because I found it hard doing keto and did not enjoy it at all, so i ended up giving it all up, even doing OMAD! I watched this video and realised, me doing my own thing (OMAD and eating all the carbs I want in that hour) was enough and I enjoyed it. So thank you! Xxx

Thank you so much for your videos. I started IF at the beginning of this month and I have been tweeking it. Since my kids get back from school between 3 and 4pm and I am a night eater, I put my eating window at 3-9pm. I start making food at 3pm, so I have my own meal at 3 and then cook for others. That way, while they are in school, there are no foods in sight and I am also full while I’m cooking. My plan is to stop eating at 9 but sometimes I go beyond 9 cos of schedule problems. I plan to push it to btwn 4 and 10pm. But so far I’m enjoying it.
First video I watch for you, the topic got my attention.
I hardly had weight issues over the years till the last few years (58 years now) I put on few kgs and finding it very hard to lose. Two years ago I tried a version of keto with IF (following mostly Dr Berg), but my cholesterol got worse and my Dr suggested Mediterranean diet. Though I usually am healthy and exercised I turned to have high cholesterol, which the Dr said could be family related. So now I find myself lost and in middle of nowhere, not knowing what is right. I somehow still follow IF since I find it easy, I stop after my last meal and eat the next day between 2 - 4 pm. In between I try to watch my carbs though not totally cut. But still can't lose even 1 kg and keep off, though I'm mostly looking to lose mostly 4 kgs.
Will watch some of your videos in the hope of finding some inspiring tricks.
I hope my videos are helpful. If you only have a little weight to lose (say less than 20 pounds), and you're at a normal BMI, I've found the weight comes off very slowly! (I lost my last 17 pounds at a rate of one third of one pound per week).

This is so true. I decide on a plan then I read and watch so much info on the plan that I start to get very confused with it all and give up. I’m going to take your advice Kayla and no more google or you tube. I’ve bought your book and I’m giving myself permission to go slow.

It's going good so far. I had a few issues but nothing to extremely difficult. I like OMAD. It works for me. But with diabetes I must eat something. My blood sugar has come down a lot. Yeah.
Just found your channel. Been intermittent fasting for 1 year 5 months. Really happy with this method of health and weight loss. I'm also a girl who walks. Nothing like 6 miles but it's a fairly regular habit and your 6 miles a day gives me the push to do more.

Thanks. I tend to be nauseous in the morning. So mostly, I've eaten 2 meals just to manage that. Maybe it is actually natural for my body to do well on 2 meals a day with a longer time between. I stopped eating candy a few weeks ago. That was a binge food for me - I'd just keep on eating it. I like the idea that I can ease my way into this. I am taking ACV + honey in h2o and also coconut oil twice a day to help with problems. One factor for me is varying times and degrees of pain which really mess up my sleep schedule. I basicly have none. I'm thinking if I give myself an 8 hour window to eat and fast for 16 hours - whenever it happens this will allow me to do this. I just have to note how many hours of fast and the time of day the eating window happens. Just roll with it.
What a God send your channel has been finding it tonight!! I’m not even what they consider obese but I’ve put on some stomach fat and I’m small and so really want to lose this and for the first time in my life I’ve felt like IF could work (been tying unsustainable diets last couple years). But watching all the videos made it confusing for me!! Do I have to do Keto? How long a window? Are carbs really bad now? How do I get my calories in? Is my metabolism going to slow down?
You have give me such an ease to start doing this the EASIEST WAY POSSIBLE. I was praying to Jesus to help me do this and IF is the only consistent thing I feel he is showing me :) thank you so much for being an answer to my prayers ❤️
So many great points! I turned to the OMAD way of eating because it simplifies my life schedule wise, it makes it so much EASIER on my day to day life. I like the idea of a cheat day on the weekends too! Awesome videos, I'm really enjoying your content!
Very well said. This is good advice for believers too. It's really easy to follow Jesus and accept the good news, but we often think we have to do something difficult to gain salvation. Sometimes we have to ask ourselves, "Why are you making this so hard?"
Kayla, your advice on going info/research free is very timely for me. I am totally overthinking this at Month 7. I am faithfully OMAD but struggling with meal choices. Keto/anything/Carnivore/Carnivish/and on and on. 🤪
I went for IF 8 weeks back , haven't felt better all over my life, I was losing weight slowly but was happy about it as mentally I feel great, was thinking to make it harder and try applying 36 hr or more till I found your channel!
Yoir advice is so valuable , I turned to think now why u should do this , make it easy and it will not harm to lose weight in few more months other than losing it now as simply I want to be on IF for all my life with exceptions for sure , I am in my 30th and I feel I took the right decision for my health till I get old and die, I want my life journey to be healthy.

Wow..thank u so so much for this video..I have been killing myself trying to stick to a low carb diet, literally counting hours till when I will eat next.i think giving our selves time and not expecting fast results is major.
I’m doing an 18 hour fast on MWF and this is week two. Going well so far and it’s nice knowing I don’t have to rush to get breakfast for myself as well as the children on these days. Also I am finding I am not as hungry toward the end of my fast this week. Looking forward to increasing the days and hours as time progresses.

Thank you so much for providing such inspiration! I have lost 50 pounds by doing OMAD with keto. Most days I have kale and cabbage salad with some type of protein, some cheese, other veggies, and homemade vinaigrette. It has actually been very easy and I feel very good after this type of salad. The fast until the next day is also easy…but I didn’t want to give up pasta, potatoes, chocolate, etc forever. Anyways, I decided to have a free day yesterday and had some macaroni and cheese and a TJ’s peanut butter cup in addition to a half of a ribeye and some veggies. I thought I had really blown it. I ended up still having a very easy fast with no hunger and no additional cravings for carbs or sugar. And I still lost 0.2 pounds. I am feeling so much more confident that I can have tastes of treats without ruining my progress. 😀

I do one meal every three days and on the day I eat I never call it my "cheat" day. I always call it my treat day and keep it positive. I was doing OMAD with keto but I wasn't losing weight. So I just added a couple of days to my fasting window..72 hours.. and added the Snake juice like Cole Robinson said and it made it so much easier...but I also have my one cup of coffee...sometimes two cups with heavy cream cause it gets me through the morning. Dr. Jason Fung said it was okay to have coffee with cream as it doesn't break your fast. I think it works since I've lost 20 pounds in the last 2 months and I could not lose weight to save my life before even on keto omad. I don't over think it. I just do it. I eat whatever I want and when I'm done, I'm done.

Just" let it happen "as a friend of mine said to me years ago. And learning how to take a quiet stand when it comes to your eating. For example, saying things like"I'm full, can't eat anymore." I'm not ready to eat yet, thanks. Truly it is your own addiction that you are trying to conquer plus the push back from those you care about that can make it difficult. You do have to be strong and even willing to risk hurt feelings if you want to succeed.
I think it's important for everyone to find that right balance. For me, there are times when it's more important to me to eat lunch with family or friends, even if that conflicts with OMAD. This approach has helped make intermittent fasting a sustainable way of life for me, for years now. (:
