- What is Quadraphonic Sound?
Quadraphonic (or quadrophonic and sometimes quadrasonic) sound - equivalent to what is now called 4.0 surround sound - uses four audio channels in which speakers are positioned at the four corners of a listening space. The system allows for the reproduction of sound signals that are (wholly or in part) independent of one another.
Four channel quadraphonic surround sound can be used to recreate the highly realistic effect of a three-dimensional live concert hall experience in the home. It can also be used to enhance the listener experience beyond the directional limitations of ordinary two channel stereo sound. Quadraphonic audio was the earliest consumer product in surround sound. Since it was introduced to the public in the early 1970s many thousands of quadraphonic recordings have been made.
Quadraphonic sound was a commercial failure when first introduced due to a variety of technical issues and format incompatibilities. Four channel audio formats can be more expensive to produce than standard two-channel stereo. Playback requires additional speakers and amplifier channels. It may also require specially designed decoding equipment.

play it back at 1.25x speed and it sounds "normal"
2x is the original tempo.
The thing is, with the RUclips speed control, when you adjust the speed, it either duplicates samples or removes them, so it will sound horrible if you go beyond about 1.25-1.5. Go back and forth between this and the original song, and you'll see it's 2x.
@@bsadewitzyeah idk why RUclipss speed changer does the awful distorted sound. In Audacity or pretty any other audio editor you can slow down or sped up with/without pitch change and it doesn’t do that. I also heard from a guitar youtuber you can (or atleast for him) the distorted slow sound can damage your ears over time

This what happens when you take an old alvin and chipmunks album and slow it to 16rpm. So its the old album, just slowed. Pretty nuts.
Ross Bagdasarian is the guy's name IIRC. And his brother(s). I don't remember exactly. That is the family name, though. The first of them to do it started out with an ordinary music career a zillion years ago; you can find it on here. You gotta realize that they actually played it and sang it just like this. This is not the result of any audio processing or anything. If you listen to the earliest Chipmunks, you can hear how they hadn't quite gotten the hang of it yet--it sounds overly syncopated and the speaking is usually too slow throughout the cartoon.
When I was a kid back in the land before time, I tried doing this with a tape recorder. Even speaking at precisely half speed is pretty hard for an extended length of time. If you deviate, your error gets multiplied by 2x when you play it back. You won't hear it when you're recording it, but when you play it back it will sound like hot garbage.
That is what makes these so appealing to me: they're like hidden works of art--a covert tribute band. You can hear styles of music in some of these that hadn't even been invented yet. People laugh at me when I say this, but the fact is that this is simply excellent. They f-ing NAILED it. It's perfect.
