The organ plays 'till midnight on Maldine Square tonight
The dancer's dance with a fever and delight
His brow is tense but his hands never shake
Revenge has come sweetly and death is his mate
The organ plays 'till midnight note perfect like clockwork
Perfect precise and a slave to the master's demands
Two souls locked together for all eternity
Soon to be one our work is nearly over
But who is the victim?
And who is the innocent?
The organ plays 'till midnight note perfect like clockwork
Perfect precise and a slave to the master's demands - Видеоклипы
I just want to say I am amazed that after all these years of loving the Dammed that people are still finding them and loving their ingenuity. Having been born in the UK and the same age as most original members I heard them when they hit the streets and have never left them everything is just bloody great. My 31 year old daughter agrees. I love there are no negative or BS comments on this page, wow I be dammed...
Alan Sinfield this band sure is something special, but not for the narrow-minded New Rap fans
Alan Sinfield and there are a lot among youth now. I'm so outraged that I'm a part of it
@ Have a Lovely Evening, Sweetie!
It's "Damned".
Nothing short of a sonic masterpiece. The guitars and piano border the sublime. And for me 20 years later , it just gets better. When I look at the writing that went into this , it's just sublime.
Best. Band. Ever.
YEAH I'm 36 and hear them since I'm 13 ! :)
Album was actually recorded at Rockfield studios near Monmouth. We used to go watch them recording at night when our parents thought we were in bed fast asleep. :) Nothing beats meeting your heroes when you're young. Best group ever.

And even the NEW Damned records are great!!!
This song is so mysterious. Bass line is hypnotic. One of my favorite album of all time. So complete, original, strong, dream worlds. Yes, a Masterpiece.
Forgot how great the Black album was.. I have it on vinyl. From punk to art rock they ruled for a while. Vincent Price & the Damned...YEAH !
I've been obsessed with this song since the first time I've heard it. The movie is really good as well. The Damned never seem to disappoint.
Also love Paul grays bass playing on this song too
Love that they did a Salute to Doctor Phibes!! Yay!
I Love Me Some Classic Damned, UND Liebe Ich The Abominable Dr. Phibes!
The Damned are undoubtedly one of the greatest bands of all time
Truth
It's really a great song! I saved it to my favorites three years ago and don't get it right but now I came here accidentally and I found that it's a fuckin MASTERPIECE!
What a great song, from a great band.
The only band EVER that can move efforlessly from New Rose to this and it does'nt jar. Genius.
Love Paul Gray's bass , always thought he was a great fit for The Damned
strumbolli Agreed! The Welshman was a member of the Damned during their finest period according to this fellow countryman! No bias there then!
My mistake, I was thinking of Bryn Merrick RIP!
And before you say it, "Yes! " this Taff ( not Sensible! ) is a W****r! Ha ha!
Although Paul Gray does live in Cardiff, and he and Bryn were treated for cancer at the same hospital. Luckily, Paul survived. Alas, Bryn did not. Fuck you, cancer!
Algy Ward was good also but hes better for TANK!
Yes the Black Album! a masterpiece.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Still the Only Band That Matters~!
From a great album by 1 of the greatest bands.
The Black album = The best Album in the world
great film great band....thanks for putting this up!!
A Journey to the end of the Night - with The Damned
The Damned, Vincent Price and Caroline Munro... these are a few of my favourite things. What more could you want - then or now?
And don't forget Vulnavia, Virginia North
Beautiful... but I'll stick with Munro - especially in Captain Kronos...
This is a really important piece of work in the development of The Damned. It's absolutely scintillating gothic psychedelia.
This is why the Damned is the only band that mattered...(and why my neighbors are pissed of over the loud music)
Dr Phibes AND the Damned. You spoil me!
Just a wonderful and enchanting song,
I love the guitar part that just plays on and on at the end of the LP version of The Black Album!!
Still one of my Faves!
My favourite song by the Damned
Immeasurable!!
Thanks for posting, this is a perfect marriage of The Damned at thier best and images from a wonderful film : ) Sublime : )
A magnificent score of music. Must pull this old flick up and re-watch. I am sure I saw this. Didn't think I could ever miss a Movie with Vincent Price in it.Music chills you to the bone. Thanks for sharing as the poster then to my Angel Being that sends me gems I would miss lacking pc skills. THANKS !!! 5*'s ++
Brilliant - The Damned at the peak of their powers!!!
fantastic song
Love it
How many punk rock bands could play a piece of music this orchestrated and cool as hell at the same time. The other masterpiece was alone again , though a cover , never the less they absolutely killed it with the jamming tempo and the video with the low flying planes , horses , petrol lorries and motorcycles and timed perfectly.
The Damned are more just Punk
This is perfect.
the damned .the greatest. enough said
i adore Dr. Phibes
Nicely done. I came here because the Captain posted a link, so I'd call that official support.
I still can't believe the Captain himself posted a link to one of my videos, I mean, how cool is that?
Phantasmagoria 138 Pretty damn cool man. Well done.
I love Dr. Phibes. Thanks for this and congrats
Billy idole Adams in chainsaw
thanks for posting, great video and great song
Absolutely brilliant music that has such compassion before the revenge death of Dr Phibes who mourns his true love until the Zombie resurrection of the dead in 2024 after the Paris games of slaughter. Hahaha.
The Damned are eternal! Long live the Damned!
Soon to be one as our work is nearly over....
Really love this song alot
The guitar playing by captain sensible on this song is beauiful
Ah, and that piano at the end....
That was quite brilliant to watch !
Black Album heavenly.
genius god bless the DAMNED
Midnight is morning to me...
Love the Damned and love Dr Phibes.
The bass player on this Album was Paul Gray, ex Eddie & the Hot Rods. Algy only played on Machine Gun Etiquette whereas Paul went on to play on Strawberries before having a fight with Rat, quitting the band and joining UFO.
Très bonne idée d'avoir utilisé les images du génialissime film de Robert Fuest, "l'abominable Docteur Phibes". Quant à la chanson elle-même, elle figure sur l'album "The Black Album" paru en 1980.
THE BLACK ALBUM!!!!!!
Yes..
I attempted to record and ammulate this classic Damned song way back in the early 80's! Needless to say, I failed!
Did I mention? This is the only band that mattered ?
mega!
I've always loved the Damned and their adventures in gothicness ....I struggle with this one though, it's a bit all over the place and sounds like it was produced in a shed which happened to have a piano in it. Maybe I miss the Captain's or Brian's chaos guitar too much....
+stuart graham youre right
I understand - but if I had a shed with a piano in it they could borrow it to record whatever they like.....
This song is a masterpiece...if you don't understand that is a reflection on you
the organ plays till midnight, after that I'll be fucking velomia hahaha hahaha
Me corrrroooooooooo!!!
☠️🦇⚰️❤️
Is there a Damned Club out there.... It seemed when I was getting into punk rock I did not know anyone who gave these guys a chance in fact I always said this is the #1 punk band ahead of the Clash, pistols, Ramones..... No one out there got the Damned! They were really ahead of the rest for new ideas. With all the dysfunction they came out with something different. As I look back I'm glad they were not posted all over and over marketed. Love the black album as well as MGE.....and everything with Brian James They were the Darkhorse
@Kelly14UK They were socially Damned too...... as in unemployable, Freaks, not just a reference to Dave Vanian's Gothic image. They initially said they wern't punks, and thier music was "Chaos" Music !!
How come deadly Dave Vanian has never cast his hand into playing the Count in films? Jaz Coleman played the Devil in Czech movie ROK Dabla!
Has to be based upon "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" !
Dave would make a good Vampire
Or does make a good vampire...
If anyone cares for some other haunting music also using Phibes youtube for Roxy Music - Strictly Confidential.
oh, where you the ones that scard the shit out of Vanian and the Captain walking about in the field near where the reverb box was buried? some one was walking about there and voices came out of the monitors at 4 in the morning...
It was Lemmy doing a drug deal. Hehe. I am not even joking.
Errrrm Rat was argumentative and violent and a bit of a bully in those days. Algy was officially sacked from the band, but really he'd fallen out with Rat and Rat got his way. A couple of years later Rat and Paul Gary had a fight and then Paul left....most people who leave the Damned had some infraction with Rat. Nope, Algy didn't played on Smash it Up, that was the Captain playing Bass; he also played the bass in Just can't be happy. If it makes up for it Algy played guitar on Liar. :)
100% sure. Algy quit the band in very early '80 and hooked up with the Brabbs brothers pretty quickly and formed Tank. The Black Album was recorded in Mid '80 at Wessex studios and released a few months later; Oct/Nov time. He didn't participate in any of the recording sessions as he hated Rat at the time. As for heroin, I can't comment. He certainly wasn't on smack when I got pissed as a fart with him in 1981. I have loads of Damned demos, but none of them feature 13th floor. It's a Paul bass.
No wonder the good Doctor is obsessed with Caroline Munro! My original LP is nearly worn out
Please let me know when your band writes a better song.
A.
GRIEZELIG MANNEKE
vulnavia
Virginia North..RIP. Beautiful Lady.
Hall lap fee we'd stripe essential part
Creepy or what?
irgendwie ist die erste von der black album gar nicht weit weg.
besser abgemischt...egal
das französische halt.
But is it really gothic enough?
My favourite song by the Damned
