Yes. We didn't use going up...but used them for some stability going down due the melt water making it very slippery. We did check them over on the way up and looked at the anchors on top. I don't condone or suggest to anyone that using them is safe. I don't even know what's up there now as this was several years ago. There are several ropes placed there and if they are used, you should bundle them all and use proper judgement and caution. Don't ever clip in or rely on them solely.

This is a great video. Congrats on the summit. Almost all the other videos use a go pro and the fisheye totally ruins how it really looks. Thanks for this realistic perspective.

Little Bear does have at least one unclimbed face/route does it not? Where Banks Caywood was killed in 1956.

I am going to Blanca and Little Bear next week! We are camping at Lake Como very similarly to what you did, any additional advice? Been preparing for the trip for a month or so now.

If you're not going to climb Ellingwood, you may consider the traverse from Blanca to Little Bear...however it is extremely exposed (I personally have not done it) Not sure of the classification. And coming down the hourglass without going up may be a little sketchy without prior knowledge. Otherwise I would split the climbs into two days, even if Ellingwood is not on your plate with Blanca. Camping should be plentiful, especially if you go up Friday night. Little Bear will raise your hair a bit going up the hourglass, but just take your time. Helmet a must piece of equipment on LB. The 5 mile hike up to Como is a brutal, bouldery, steep road/trail. Depending on what type of vehicle you own will determine how far you get up the road. Have fun and be safe!

@@TroyLawsonCO I know this is a 3 year old comment, but man that traverse is crazy! Not for the feint of heart at all. Definitely up there for most challenging CO 14er experience well beyond something like Capitol. There are some great videos of it online now lol

Saw the holy cross video. Funny how a lot of these small channels are my favorites.
