This was nice. So many celebrities choose cremation these days, or are interred in private cemeteries or locked mausoleums away from the public, which I completely understand, but Varney always seemed to be a regular country guy like the ones I grew up around in Texas, and its nice that people can stop by his grave and reflect on the way his work touched their lives on a personal level. For me, I remember his 'Vern' commercials for Braums Ice Cream (popular in the South and Midwest) Commercials when I was a kid, and for Toy Story. Continue to RIP, Jim Varney, and thanks for the great entertainment!
When I first saw these in Oklahoma, I said, 'THAT'S NO OKIE! He sounds like some old boy from around Morehead, settin' up on the Courthouse porch and solving all the world's problems with his buddies!' I was only off by a few dozen miles.
Man, this takes me back. Used to see these all the time watching Saturday morning cartoons as a kid. Even as goofy as Ernest was and as cheesy as the movies were, I still can't help but love 'em.
For those of us outside the area Braum's served, our only awareness of this place was through the VHS compilation "The Ernest Film Festival", later re-titled "Ernest's Greatest Hits Vol. 1", as it contained many of Ernest's commercials for different products and local businesses such as Braum's.
I miss him too he’s my childhood friend and his mommy and daddy are happy to see him again in heaven and Jim sr better be happy he’s in heaven to his daddy Jim sr in heaven be nice to him in heaven he’s my childhood friend and he’s your son
I loved Jim Varney!... Being from Oklahoma, I worked at Braum's bakery when I was 18. I used to eat the cookies as they were made. All of their stuff was very high quality! I miss Jim Varney. He was so funny!
It's been 10 years my friend where are you now? How has life been treating you? Did you move up from fast food? Did you go to college? Are you a businessman or in construction? Did you find Jesus or get hooked on drugs?
I don't live where Braum's is located but the commercials Ernest did for them make me want to drive all the way to wherever they are. It makes me hungry watching him talk about their burgers and fried steak sandwiches.
I live in Oklahoma City and they seem to have originated from Oklahoma. I know that they have places in Texas and maybe Kansas. Other than that, I don't think they are in any other states. Their burgers are good but I prefer Sonic's burgers over their's. Their fries on the other hand are amazing, and so are their shakes.
I really miss Jim Varney too. Someone needs to catalog the various types of commercials. He did many of these bits for other companies too. Vern must have liked him to some extent. After all, they spent a lot of time at one another's houses. Did anyone think Ernest was secretly working for a competitor? Some folks might have been turned off by his pitches. But you get the feeling if Vern needed help, Ernest's the first person he'd call. RIP Jim Varney.
Thanks for posting these. Many are on the Greatest Hits collections. But there were a few I hadn't seen before. I'm not the only one who misses Jim Varney. He did many routines for various products. Did they use a filter to make his face green? Hopefully he never got hurt doing any of these ads.
Hell yeah, Braum's has the best ice cream. Burgers aren't bad, depends on where you stop. They make a big deal about never shipping outside this 300 mile radius of the dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
We Got Braums in our town. Im real sorry if you don't have a BRAUMS! He would have to eat one of their hamburgers in my face making me hungry for one. I don't know how i make it without Braums! Seriously I can't move! Braums is only in a few states Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, two others i think. That French Vanilla ice cream. I am a shamed I have eaten a lot of it. Love their milk don't have that paper carton taste.
Yeah Vern they got their own Bakery they got their own Plants they got their own Cows, so when the Cows Cant Give Milk Anymore they turn em into the Braums Burgers, and get their own Bread and Lettuce From The Secret Braums Butchers who ask the Bakery For Bread Buns, and scrounge thru the plants for Lettuce, just a real Hamburger Made by Real Human Beings with the Freshest Meat Available to them Knowutimean?
Braums... You know what I mean. He must come from the Dallas Forthworth area Because Jim Varney also did commercials for channel 4 CBS news back in da day in Dallas Texas. Natural born funny guy.... God bless his good fun legacy . And God bless his family too in Christ amen.
1wharfboy Most of the Ernest ads, or at least the company that produced them, were located out of Nashville, TN. I suppose for those scenes that took place in a Braum's restaurant, they had to go to one on OK to film those ads.
I always wonder what kind of person Vern was? I mean he couldn't stand Ernest yet he let Ernest come by & visit all the time, yet at the same tine he must have had a video camera in hand all the time & this was before the days of You Tube! Before Cell phones! Before digital cameras! You get my point!Only I will say, I really miss Ernest these days. Jim Varney inspires me!

Same. I miss Braum's so much.
If Jim Varney HATED cottage cheese, we'd never know.....He was that damn good.
I loved Jim Varney!...
Being from Oklahoma,
I worked at Braum's bakery when I was 18.
I used to eat the cookies as they were made.
All of their stuff was very high quality!
I miss Jim Varney. He was so funny!
Wow...loved watching these saturday mornings when i lived in TX
My best memories of going to Braum's after Sunday night Church in Ardmore, OK. And when you walked in half of the Church was there too.
Same in Norman
Small world. I live in Ardmore too. On the other side of commerce
I just started working at braums and I wish they still had commercials like this
It's been nine years since your comment. Do you still work at Braum's? If not, why? I am genuinely curious!
It's been 10 years my friend where are you now? How has life been treating you? Did you move up from fast food? Did you go to college? Are you a businessman or in construction? Did you find Jesus or get hooked on drugs?
Thank You for posting these! I forgot just how hilarious Jim Varney was.
He was my introduction to Braums, now it's my rest stop in Ennis when traveling between Madisonville and Dallas
"Well, pay the lady", lol at how he says that, so funny.

Sonic's burgers are pretty good but my favorite fast food burger I've had is probably Backyard Burgers. The only one near where I live closed, though.
I’ve been there before. My grandparents used to live in Oklahoma. I’ve only had their ice cream. I haven’t had their fried food or anything else.
These ads were my first exposure to Jim Varney and his Ernest character.
I used to love to see these commercials when I lived in Tulsa. Thanks for the memories!
Poor Verne never could get a word in.

He's FAN FRICKING TASTIC!
Braum's cottage cheese SLAPS. Eat it every day lol.
Hell yeah, Braum's has the best ice cream. Burgers aren't bad, depends on where you stop. They make a big deal about never shipping outside this 300 mile radius of the dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Leftysfive93 At least they have their priorities sorted out.
Love braums
OMG he's so adorable
He must have liked Vern a lot. Vern keeps slamming the window, driving off, pushing the ladder away, etc., etc., etc. and he keeps coming back.
Vern was a jokster.
Ernest was just clueless! LOL
Yes that’s right he’s keeps coming back and Vern have to put up with him
Remember these as a little kid growing up in Oklahoma.
ahhh, memories from my youth in tulsa
Great mind and comedian
Braum’s is like maybe a tier above school lunch food but if Ernest is telling me to go to Braum’s, I’ll go to Braum’s.

Ernest: the best!
If he says Vern ONE MORE TIME!
Change the title of this video to "Braums Ice Cream Commercials with Ernest P. Worrell."
RIP Ernest!
My daddy used to work on them.
Braums... You know what I mean. He must come from the Dallas Forthworth area Because Jim Varney also did commercials for channel 4 CBS news back in da day in Dallas Texas. Natural born funny guy.... God bless his good fun legacy . And God bless his family too in Christ amen.

Not bad, but I think you forgot the one where Ernest pretended to be an alien holding 2 ice cream cones
I wonder if Braum's made any muffins or cupcakes for that dessert time during a birthday party...
A shame they didn't show the alien Ernest commercial.
I subscribed to your RUclips channel

I work there and I dislike it
