Yes, Dimash has some opera background. He began training when he was about five years old and has had both classical and contemporary training. He had been offered a position as a tenor with an opera house, but chose to pursue a combined style mostly referred to as popera. Although SOS is an admirable piece, it is just the top of the iceberg. Sinful Passion is another essential as is the more operatic Olimpico (composed for Dimash’s voice specifically.). The next song on the show is opera 2, which it’s epic but in my personal opinion it’s just pipped by olimpico ogni pietra which is a rock/opera written esp for Dimash by a famous Russian composer, who came out of retirement when he heard Dimash to write songs for him. No one else could sing olimpico, no one, in fact if you can tell me someone who could sing this song I’d be eternally grateful but you won’t. Dimash has a 7/8 octave range, he sings in 15 languages, he plays multiple instruments and is the loveliest most humble young man on earth. He sings from rap to opera too. He is the voice we didn't know we needed to hear. And aren't looks so so deceiving...when I watched this very clip some time back [my first DQ experience] I thought to myself no way, how is that voice coming out of that young, quite small of build, human - well [the voice part is still a mystery] he was 22 in this clip [I thought oh maybe 17] and small of stature...yeah...narh...he's 6'3" He is the cats meow and the voice, to quote another reactor, that connects earth to heaven. If music could take a human form, then it's form is Dimash - he is the full orchestra - with all it's gentle subtleties and all it's grandeur...he is the string quartet...the harp....the electric guitar...the flute..the music notes on paper.....he is each of them...he is all of them. He can sing rock, pop, R&B...he can rap [really he can], sings neo classical...can play 7 instruments really well....it's all a bit daunting really for all that in one person [and then to top it off, handsome in an ethereal classical sense - like the movie stars of old]. His ability to sing in another language that is foreign to him is gobsmacking - especially what are [IMHO] the 2 hardest to master - English and Mandarin [many scoff that English isn't hard - oh yes it is]. His ability to be able to sit or kneel and belt in his head voice and beyond is neigh impossible - should be impossible - but again and again, Dimash shows what was impossible is indeed possible. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD. He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500. Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside). They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night. Welcome to the best vocalist in the world and perhaps the most humble. Keep in mind, this was 5 years ago and he has only gotten better and better. Just an outstanding artist and human being. He sing sings in many languages including his native Kazakh, Russian, Ukrainian, English, Mandarin, to name a few. Some of my favorites and one that will leave you speechless is Sinful Passion, in Russian but with subtitles, Ikanaide, in Japanese , performed for the Tokyo Jazz festival from a studio due to the pandemic, Stranger..in English. There were 14 episodes pitting professional singers/bands against one another. Dimash, a wildcard act from Kazakhstan, won that first round and 2 more rounds in the competition. Eventually another singer Sandy Lam just managed to get a few more points overall and pipped him at the post for first place. She is an incredible singer too, was well known and well loved all over China and had millions of fans already, whereas Dimash was a complete unknown. (Anyway, a foreigner couldn't be allowed to win, it was against the rules of the show. That rule has since been lifted). Despite that Dimash was an overnight sensation in China and had to have bodyguards to leave the hotel the next day. He became an instant superstar and stayed in China for another 3 years. I would suggest "Opera 2" and "Be with Me" the official MV, to see his Playful side (Dimash is a BEAST and can act as well. Think Jackie Chan meets 007 in "Be with me") Also, "Confessa/Diva Dance" (which is from the movie "The 5th element" The blue Alien sings this, it was created in studio for the movie with the opera singer recording in different parts, so to make it IMPOSSIBLE for a human voice to achieve) UNTIL Dimash! He has performed songs in 14 languages: his native Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Arabic and Japanese. Dimash plays seven instruments: piano, drums, guitar, keyboard, dombra (the most popular Kazakh instrument, like a lute), marimba (like a xylophone), and bayan (which is like an accordion). He is University educated with degrees in classical and opera, as well as contemporary music, pop and jazz and completed a Broadway musical master class. On June 18th, 2020 he completed his masters specializing in composition and received his masters with honours having achieved the maximum score of 100%. He is currently working on his Doctorate in musical composition.

This very performance transformed him into a legend in China and other Asian countries. With over 600 million views on Weibo in a matter of few days. You just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages, plays multiple musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion “ 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, "Adagio" 2017, "Daybreak" at Bastau 2017. Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned in Chinese characters: ⭐Di - achievement ⭐Ma - precious stone ⭐Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

Dimash Kudaibergen was born on May 24, 1994, in Aktobe, Kazakhstan into musical royalty. Height: (1.91m; 6' 3'). Grandfather played professional dombra, grandmother was a teacher and sings.

According to Kazakh tradition, he was raised by his grandparents and for a long time he kept his parents as his aunt and uncle. They all live together in one house.

Dimash did not fit the traditional image of a singer in Kazakhstan and was criticized. Even his voice teacher forbade him to sing in falsetto (There is a video where the teacher talks about it)... but he was not deterred, won many national and international competitions.
In 2016, Dimash turned down the offer of the National Opera in Astana because he wanted to go his own way ... He created his own genre: neoclassical combined with classical, folklore and other styles such as pop, rock, R&B and jazz. We laypeople say 'Popera'. 😃
Dimash is independent and has full artistic control over himself. He founded his own company named Dimash Ali.
In 2017, Dimash surprised everyone in China. He opened the eyes of his critical compatriots. Today Dimash is a 'cultural ambassador' for his country and a 'national treasure' (not an official title). He himself is a proud Kazakh and patriot.
Dimash plays at least 7 instruments, traditional dombra is a must in his family. He speaks Kazakh (mother tongue) and Russian (without accent, second language in Kazakhstan), is learning English and Mandarin. He says dancing and Mandarin are difficult for him. So far, he sings in 13 languages. He trains his voice for 3 hours every day, ..but Dimash said: "You don't need to know how hard I've worked, you just need to enjoy the results".
Experts consider Dimash to be a lyrical baritone with a typically long range. Dimash says of himself that he is a tenor. Some believe that he does not sing his high notes as a countertenor but as a natural soprano. He is the first singer to sing all 5 voices: bass, baritone, tenor, contralto, soprano.

Yes, Dimash has some opera background. He began training when he was about five years old and has had both classical and contemporary training. He had been offered a position as a tenor with an opera house, but chose to pursue a combined style mostly referred to as popera. Although SOS is an admirable piece, it is just the top of the iceberg. Sinful Passion is another essential as is the more operatic Olimpico (composed for Dimash’s voice specifically.). The next song on the show is opera 2, which it’s epic but in my personal opinion it’s just pipped by olimpico ogni pietra which is a rock/opera written esp for Dimash by a famous Russian composer, who came out of retirement when he heard Dimash to write songs for him. No one else could sing olimpico, no one, in fact if you can tell me someone who could sing this song I’d be eternally grateful but you won’t. and down the Dimash rabbit hole you go in 3...2...1.... As many have said here already, you just listened to the GOAT. There has never been, and I doubt ever will be again, a singer like Dimash. He is the voice we didn't know we needed to hear. And aren't looks so so deceiving...when I watched this very clip some time back [my first DQ experience] I thought to myself no way, how is that voice coming out of that young, quite small of build, human - well [the voice part is still a mystery] he was 22 in this clip [I thought oh maybe 17] and small of stature...yeah...narh...he's 6'3" He is the cats meow and the voice, to quote another reactor, that connects earth to heaven. If music could take a human form, then it's form is Dimash - he is the full orchestra - with all it's gentle subtleties and all it's grandeur...he is the string quartet...the harp....the electric guitar...the flute..the music notes on paper.....he is each of them...he is all of them. He can sing rock, pop, R&B...he can rap [really he can], sings neo classical...can play 7 instruments really well....it's all a bit daunting really for all that in one person [and then to top it off, handsome in an ethereal classical sense - like the movie stars of old]. His ability to sing in another language that is foreign to him is gobsmacking - especially what are [IMHO] the 2 hardest to master - English and Mandarin [many scoff that English isn't hard - oh yes it is]. His ability to be able to sit or kneel and belt in his head voice and beyond is neigh impossible - should be impossible - but again and again, Dimash shows what was impossible is indeed possible. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, will turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to finish his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4.

It's so fun for us "Dears" (that’s what Dimash calls his fans because he loves us as a dear family) to see how people react to him.
Some info about Dimash. He is born in May 24 1994. He is from Kazakhstan and has been music schooled sense 5 years old and told the teacher that the piano was out of tune! He sings about 7 octaves or so! No one knows he is still learning. He sings higher than the piano can go! He also writs and compose own songs, plays bunch of instruments including Dombra there own Kazakh instrument that has a sound you can’t believe and onley 2 strings! He also sings in about 13 languages and speaks 3 so far (Kazakh,Russian and English).
Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition. He graduated with a degree in opera from the music school at the University of Aktobe (2014), a degree in pop/jazz from the National Arts University in Nur Sultan (2018), just completed his Master's degree in composition (June 2020) and have started his PhD.
He have done some contests in his life but the one I think got the worlds intension is "The Singer" (Allso called "I am a singer" or "Singer") from China in 2017. The Singer is a program for established Chinese singers to face off against each other invites only in a competition where votes were cast by an audience of 500.
Dimash Qudaibergen was a last-minute inclusion (a 'dark horse'). But his performance of 'SOS D'un Terrien En Detresse' electrified the audience, his fellow competitors and the viewers who numbered in the billions (this program was one of the most-watched in China and outside).
They also got him the nickname "Imported little brother" the day after the show. They also had to get bodyguard for Dimash do to the famous over night both in China and also the world. Dimash wasn’t really prepared for that. He had come to China at 22 years young man by him self and didn’t know the language. They hade contracted him for 2 shows because they didn’t think he cold go further than that. He didn’t think they would like him. So he was nervous this performers that he had also to start the show with. But they hade to change that do to his famous over night.
Dimash got many new friends from this show and he said at some point he learned a lot from it to.

The best moment in this show was just after Dimash started thanking everyone and saw his father there. He didn’t know he was there. Just after they got out of that room Dimash turns to his father and asks if he did good! Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

Welcome to the best vocalist in the world and perhaps the most humble. Keep in mind, this was 5 years ago and he has only gotten better and better. Just an outstanding artist and human being. He sing sings in many languages including his native Kazakh, Russian, Ukrainian, English, Mandarin, to name a few. Some of my favorites and one that will leave you speechless is Sinful Passion, in Russian but with subtitles, Ikanaide, in Japanese , performed for the Tokyo Jazz festival from a studio due to the pandemic, Stranger..in English. There are so so many. Yes, he can do opera but he pretty much does any genre he wants including rap and plays multiple instruments.

The guy in the back room said 'Wowwww. I got goosebumps. I'm shocked.' He was the singer of a Chinese group called the Lion Band. There were 14 episodes pitting professional singers/bands against one another. Dimash, a wildcard act from Kazakhstan, won that first round and 2 more rounds in the competition. Eventually another singer Sandy Lam just managed to get a few more points overall and pipped him at the post for first place. She is an incredible singer too, was well known and well loved all over China and had millions of fans already, whereas Dimash was a complete unknown. (Anyway, a foreigner couldn't be allowed to win, it was against the rules of the show. That rule has since been lifted). Despite that Dimash was an overnight sensation in China and had to have bodyguards to leave the hotel the next day. He became an instant superstar and stayed in China for another 3 years.

He sings in multiple musical genres. His main genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), rap, hip hop, pop, rock, classic, Opera, traditional Kazakh folk, ballad and world music. He uses musical elements, and vocal styles and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, RnB, and musical theater.
His 7.7 octave range (G0 growl-D8 whistle tone) and 2 semitones, meaning he has produced notes found in 7 different octaves, which is beyond comparison. Kudaibergen is well-recognized for his extremely wide and developed vocal range from C2 to C6 to F#6 and, finally, D8. This sequence shows his lowest note sung in vocal fry and chest voice, his highest note hit with his full modal voice, his highest note hit using falsetto, and his highest overall note, hit using the whistle register.

This song from Dimash is the first in the 14 episodes of the Chinese competition The Singer 2017. I believe he was the first foreign competitor to take part in the competition. The other competitors were accomplished Chinese singers. Dimash came second behind Sandy Lam, with Lion Band in third place. There was a great camaraderie between the contestants and Dimash became great friends with a number of them, especially Terry Lin. The other artist are well worth checking out.
