    I was enjoying the video however there were a few mistakes that you made that I could not help but have to point out to you. Now don't take this the wrong way, but it's just what I saw and I understand that people want to play the game the way they want to but here is what I saw:
    -When you ask for electrical power on, the Saber gets a power surge or because it is depressurized and air breaks open up and so do the Gear doors upon start up, it was not a button you pressed as the air break button is mapped as B(I'm sure you might have it mapped to your joystick at this point). I have yet to find it personally in the cockpit.
    -The dial above the exhaust dial and below the oil pressure dial(I'm pretty sure it is the RPM Dial), when it gets around 25%, you should turn off the ground power because the plane can now run on it's own power and just for policy sake
    -When you take off, you should set your flaps to take off using the blue lever and pulling it closer to yourself since it looks like you like using the controls in the cockpit instead of the keyboard.
    -The reason why tower did not respond to you when you asked for taxi was because you did not set up your channels. On the far right side there are dials that set up the channels for you. The smaller one on the left, set to T/R and the bigger one is to set up specific channels for squadrons and different airfields, depending on which one you are communicating with. I usually go with 4
    -When in combat, there is a wing span dial below the gun site that goes from like 30 to 110 I think. The Mig-15's wings are 30 feet so you would want to set that to 30.
    -On the gun sites, your crosshair was locked in place, next to the site, there is a small lever that cages it and uncages it. Next time you go in combat, you should uncage it so the radar can do its work and move around based on the aircraft in front of you. It helps since it does the aiming for you so all you have to then when you are behind him is just have the crosshair on him or slightly in front of him and just open fire instead of leading it yourself. Much more useful and the clear advantage the Sabers had over Mig-15s in combat.
    These are the things I felt you could put together to help improve yourself in combat and flight in general. Not trying to impose on how you play the game, just some useful information I thought I'd give you. Sorry for the wall of text, have a nice day. ^^

      MagzTV couldn't help but notice as well that you had your hydraulics on alternate. not sure if setting it to normal via the red toggle directly behind the throttle ("pull" switch towards pilot then release to rest to normal) really affects anything, but, you know, the more you know....

    • @Android811
      @Android811 9 лет назад +2

      MagzTV I also couldn't help but notice your throttle seemed to be stuck in the "wide open" position! lol

    • @dogeycj6189
      @dogeycj6189 9 лет назад

      cppowerful Its nothing to do with a power surge. Airbrakes are held in via hydraulic vacuum. when the engine shuts down, the engine is no longer providing hydraulic suction for the vacuum and airbrakes deploy, all sabre pilots correct this on start up by simply retracting them as the ground crew chooses to leave them deployed for easy access when maintaining the aircraft on the ramp. The RPM also never reaches a sufficient amount before it is able to generate electricity at idle. Simply throttling up a crack will allow this to happen by allowing the engine to run past 4500 RPM and generate electricity. you will see an amber light on the dash extinguish as this happens, indicating power to the systems.

    So there are some things you missed:
    1. I see that you didn't ask the ground crew to stop the ground power.
    2. the tower didn't respond because you didn't set up the radio to Batumis's frecuency (which is 3 by default) Also remember to set the radio to T/R (transmit/recieve)
    3. Forgot the set up takeoff trim. You can do this by applying noseup trim until the light that is in the middle/up position lights up.
    4. The canopy has open/hold/open. When not opening nor closing get it to hold.
    5. USE THE FLAPS FOR TAKEOFF.
    6. I generally rotate at about 150 kt.
    7. Don't exceed 190 kt with flaps or gear down. This means no combat flaps.
    8. Your flight is at frecuency #1.
    9. The sabre has a lead computer when the radar light is on. Uncage the sight with the lever to let it lead for you.
    10. To the left you have a knob and three lights. With the knob you can select which guns to shoot (Upper/middle/lower/all)
    11. I'd recomend you to download the "DCS F-86 Kneeboard ATC Channel List". It is great as it has ATC channels AND NDB (non directional beacons) for your radio compass.
    12. I also recomend the "F-86F Flight Crew Checklist and TOLD" since it has REAL f86 procedures. It really shows how much detail this beautiful aircraft has.
    13. For checklists you can put them in "C:\Users\\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard" As long as they are a jpg or png format.
    PS: Don't forget to check your EGT (external gas temperature) and be sure it's under 690° or the engine might have a flameout.

      MagzTV Np. Also i forgot to tell you that you can set the range and wingspan manually and (if the radar is off) you can lead manually. This will help when the MiG-15 module comes since I've heard that the pilot gets an indication when you're locking into it.

      EriktheRedstone War Thunder Simulator has great flight physics except for a lack of compressibility and lack luster damage modeling, the biggest War Thunder Simulator lack of realism is management of the fuel tanks and engines and the lack of long flights or formations.

    a little tip for you that real korean saber pilots used against the mig 15 (this can only be used if on the migs 7-5 o clock):
    dont come directly straight onto the back of the mig but atcually come at about 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 to have more area of the fuselage to hit.

    Good to see you come over to the light side. Good skill using the 100 mil sight rather than radar. Also on that last MiG, when the AI's nav lights turn on, you popped his engine out so he's trying to land. The AI is a bit stupid lol. Good flying dude. I can't tell you how many times I've rammed the MiG when it goes vertical or when his engine is out. I personally fly against AI sabre because they fight more horizontal and have better skill in a turnfight rather than just rocketing upward every time you get on it's six like the MiG. I wish I had track Ir and a PC like yours. I run at 20fps and I turn my head with a hat button...

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  10 лет назад +6

      I don't have the 109K yet, Its on my list for the next set of discounts a long with the Fw 190 D-9. As for comparing the War Thunder and DCS Sabres, there is no comparison, Play DCS F-86F for 10 minutes and you will be able to see why every person who plays Sim on DCS laughs every time Gaijin tries to tell there customers that there FMs are finished, accurate and tournament ready.

  • @apieceofstring
    @apieceofstring 10 лет назад

    Yeah, look for interference on the camera (lights or windows in the background, etc). Also make sure your entire range of motion is well within the camera's field of view. Either of those things can interfere with the tracking.
    Note that you can set the filter strength (I forget where it is in the UI, but it's there somewhere). If trackIR is getting distracted by large warm masses, you can try turning the threshold up until it only sees the dots. But as long as you aren't getting any false returns, you want the threshold as low as you can put it; counterintuitively, big dots are more accurate than small dots (sub-pixel accuracy is better for a large group of pixels, than for a small group).
    And consider using the vector clip if you aren't using it yet. I find that the reflective dots don't work in my situation -- I have a large monitor and have to mount the trackIR high, looking down. This creates a dead zone where the dots fail if I look down; the angle to the camera is too oblique. Tracking flips out every time. Plus, the hat blocks my view if I look down. So at least for me, the vector clip LED's are absolutely required for trackIR. Even with speakers running, I wear headphones just as a base for the track clip. I don't know the details of your situation, but maybe it is somehow analogous.
    Finally, have the trackIR reset button in easy reach. You spent like half of that fight jammed down in your cockpit like you were trying to find something under the chair! Make sure the center position is comfortable, so that you have a good field of view even in a relaxed position; any time that fails, reset. Then you should be able to see over the dash.

  • @Kpoole35

    early jets had no bypass, up until the 70's. 737-200 had very low amounts of bypass, so amongst pilots we have developed a nick name for the low bypass jets, "screamers" where when you have turbo fan aircraft with high bypass, it gets a little quieter like the 737NG.

    Two questions about DCS world first are enemy and allied planes always marked because that seems kind of broken. Also Magz was pulling some pretty hard turns at high speed without blacking out do g forces ever black out the pilot?

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  10 лет назад

      Are they always marked? No you can turn that off with a single button press, I leave it turned on Both because it makes it easier to track targets for the viewers of a video and because I am blind in my left eye giving me my own vision problems.
      And yes you can black out, I was holding the stick so I could maintain the tightest turn possible without blacking out, If I had pulled back any harder, Well it wouldn't look good on video.

    (UNCAGE YOUR GUNSIGHT! The latch in the bottom right of the sight, they modelled radar tracking!)
    War Thunder's Sabres in general don't do the Sabre justice. DCS's Sabre might be my favorite sim of all time, up there next to Rise of Flight.
    I can't wait for the MiG-15bis, I believe it's coming in the next month or two. Right now the Sabre doesn't have much to fight. (until they add the real MiG-15, the current AI MiGs are using placeholder flight and damage models that make them unable to stall and very hard to kill.)
    I can't praise the devs behind DCS's Sabre enough. It's my favorite aircraft ever made. Or is it the F-15... or is it the Fokker DrI... or the P-38... ah, crap, here I go again...

    I know there are some visibility issues in DCS 1 (soon to be resolved in 1.5) however there are no circumstances where the use of labels are acceptable! Haha good video tho, made me want to dig out the sabre again and put away that pulse doppler radar.

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  9 лет назад +2

      +spitfirefrench "there are no circumstances where the use of labels are acceptable!" I think having a degenerative condition in my eyes giving me only 6/20 vision without contacts in both eyes and only being able to use a special hard plastic (Painful) contact in just the right eye to bring my vision to 16/20 in just that one eye (other is still only 6/20) is more than enough reason to use labels if I feel the need.

      @spitfirefrench 9 лет назад

      ok well now Im the dick lol

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  9 лет назад

      spitfirefrench No, not at all. Most people who live there lives with perfect vision or perfect control of there body's never think of those that can't and why should you. But that's why simulations like DCS world have options like target markers as the developers realize that not all the people interested in there product have full use of there own body, It could be a disability or it could just be age as you would be amazed how many people in there 50's and 60's fly DCS.
      I play on full simulation flight settings but will occasionally use the markers when I'm having a bad day with my eyes. If you check my more recent F-15 video you will see that I'm flying without them there, I was having a good day that day. All I was pointing out is that there are reasions those options are there and reasions that people use them other than "Easy mode". :)

    Haha awesome, this DCS World makes WT sim battle look like arcade! :D btw. that 2nd Mig was an elusive bastard, he just didn't want to die...perhaps Gaijin secretly gave it fire extinguisers and spawn protection... xD

    • @kainhall
      @kainhall 10 лет назад

      this isnt war thunder..... gajin has no power here!!!
      this is DCS...made by Eagle Dynamics..... a MUCH MUCH MUCH more accurate and sim focused game.
      currently, the f-86 is in open beta....dcs is just the game engine....tehy call it "dcs world".
      you buy planes.... 40 bucks for the a-10c.... 40 bucks for the f-86.... but the amount of work that goes into the damage model, the flight model, ETC is worth the 40 bucks. however... if you only have the f-86..... other players can fly around in any plane they have and kill shit with you.
      anyway.... the f-86 is in beta.... and tehy dont have a player controled mig 15 YET!!! its on its way..... so the mig 15s in game right now are "place holders".... which is about as "war thunder-y" as DCS gets...
      they take damage like a champ, and can climb like a UFO.... but it is still very possibly to shoot them down and have amazing dog fights with 15 v 15

    Hey Magz, you should check out a book called "No Guts, No Glory", by American fighter ace, Lt. Col Frederick C. Blesse. He flew F-86 Sabres during the Korean War and his Dogfighting Manual has become common core for U.S. fighter pilot instruction.
    It's pretty basic, but there are some good tidbits about pilot mindset, and a lot about importance of element teamwork. Check it out here: www.simhq.com/_air/PDF/NGNG.pdf

      Its hard, DCS even if you set it to game mode is more of a Sim then War Thunder Sim, Its learning curve looks more like a cliff face than a curve but once you get the hang of it there is very little else like it. If you are interested in getting into it more pick up a cheap stick, I use a $40 Logitech extreme 3D pro and you can see what it can do in this video, Better sticks give more options but there is no need to drop a wad on a Hotas system right at the start.

    • @toxicmongerofthehatefulbro5745
      @toxicmongerofthehatefulbro5745 10 лет назад

      I'll uh, Keep that in mind, but if the learning curve is that steep I probably wont put that kind of money in a joystick that I wont be having much joy with.

      RoflSeal Not quite, I left it caged deliberately. If I wanted a computer to do all the hard work for me I would just fly my Sabre in War Thunder with mouse aim, In DCS I want to do all the work.

      It does mate, I choose not to use it, I like flying the plane and doing all the hard work myself in DCS rather than letting the computer do it for me. Its why I have more hours logged in the Huey and the Sabre in DCS than I do any of the modern jets.

    MagzTV after 100+ hours of sabre flying and many take offs and landings, heres my procedure: Ext Pwr; Start Up clearance, Flashing Lights+Taxi lights; Rearm+Refuel; Radio + NDB config (during ressuplying to save time),
    Engine start, fuel tanks selection, radar sight+ Camera arm, Take off trim, take off flaps, Taxi permission,
    @runway:Airbrake retract, confirm takeoff trim is correct and flaps aswell, fuel gage correction rod to out, taxi light retract and lock, spool engine to 98%RPM while brakes are engaged,
    at 110kts raise nose off the ground at 145kts let it lift and keep her stable, retract gear at 155kts, raise flaps to combat setting (aprox 10º) keep trimming her !
    flaps fully up by 210kts, ext lights to steady + dimm
    Gun master arm on, set 33ft wingspan on sight, calibrate radar sweep to 1000 ft altitude
    climb to 25k ft and form up with wingman before proceeding to combat zone
    drop fuel tanks when outboard drop tank empty light turns on or you get bounced by enemy

    If I get DCS World and some add on modules (I want SU-27, and Warthog A10-A) directly from the DCS site do I still need Steam to run it? • @MagzGTV

      Yes you can but you need to be aware any Steam aircraft packs can not be loaded into the normal version and any aircraft purchase from the normal site can not be applied to steam as of a few months ago. All keys are now limited to the clients point of origin.

      jimbow501 Thanks--I got DCS World and 2 modules from the DCS site on the weekend. And I can see that they will run fine without Steam, and when offline. I am not a fan of Steam--for one thing, I have yet to figure out how to install a steam associated game from disc, without steam downloading it. Huge waste of bandwidth and time on a slow 5 mb/sec. connection like mine.

    What sort of accessories are needed for this game? i.e. joystick, track IR

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  9 лет назад

      You can play Keyboard and mouse but joystick is recommended. Track IR is more for if you really find yourself enjoying it and want that little bit more. If you go deep into the game the skies the limit, HoTaS, Collective controls for helicopters. What ever you want.

    • @Owltalon100
      @Owltalon100 9 лет назад

      MagzTV Okay thanks! Any recommendations on joystick/hotas?

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  9 лет назад

      For a cheap stick just to get you in i recommend the Logitech Extreme 3D pro. It has throttle and rudder functionality and will only set you back about $20 to $30. If you like the flying then you can choose to drop some cash on a HoTaS set up knowing you really enjoy the game.
      Also remember DCS World is free on steam and comes with a couple of planes so you can try out the basic flying at no cost. After you have DCS world installed you can choose to buy other aircraft like the Sabre, They go for around $50 for the more up market aircraft with cheaper aircraft going for as low as $20. But if you want to go cheaper again wait for a Steam sale, I grabbed my Sabre for about $17 (discount from $50) and FC3 which has the F-15c, SU-27, MiG-29 A-10 Warthog and a number of other aircraft for only $9.

    • @Owltalon100
      @Owltalon100 9 лет назад

      MagzTV Okay thank you very much! I'll definitely wait for a sale for some of the expensive planes as $50 is a bit much for a plane.

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  9 лет назад

      Its kind of worth it. These are not just game aircraft but fully modeled simulation aircraft. All the buttons an switches in the cockpit works and are clickable, the plane reacts exactly as the real one would. You can see some of that in this video. Basically If you have ever dreamed of flying a F-86 Sabre or any of the other top end aircraft, DCS is as close as you can get without a pilots licence, a couple of thousand hours in qualifications and around a million dollars to buy one.But if you are unsure yes wait for the sales, There should be one soon.

    Magz, you should play Insurgency. Very realistic FPS. Very hard, too. 15$ on steam. Could you make a video on it?

    • @EvidensInsania
      @EvidensInsania 10 лет назад

      Realistic? Haha no it isn't, not at all. It's a tactical shooter designed for fun, not realism. Even the ARMA series isn't all that realistic. Unlike planes, people have way too many things they can do, current game control methods just don't come anywhere near to giving us our complete control. Also our "damage model" so to say is also incredibly complex by video game standards. It's impossible for any video game to be a truly realistic representation of infantry combat, living organisms are too complex to be controlled by a keyboard so everything is instead very simplified.

    • @pokefreak480
      @pokefreak480 10 лет назад

      EvidensInsania It's much more realistic than say COD or Battlefield for example. It does hold a sense of realism, It's most certainly not a complete 100% accurate down and dirty depiction and simulation of infantry combat. But it is definitley not an arcadey shooter, That much is for sure.

    • @EvidensInsania
      @EvidensInsania 10 лет назад

      pokefreak480 Exactly, that's why I said it's a tactical shooter. To me a realistic game is one that accurately simulates how real life works. People are really hard to do this with but vehicles are much more simple so something like Euro Truck Simulator can accurately simulate the experience of driving a big truck.
