I watched this final at the age of 11 years. Since then, so much has passed under the bridge of life - you'd never believe it.

Good video/analysis. There is certainly a shadow around the Inter Milan European Cup wins in 1964 and 1965 due to the presence of Italo Allodi at Inter and his supposed match fixer Dezso Solti.

The _Under the Cosh_ podcast / youtube channel (which is mainly interviews with former players) has a couple episodes chatting with ex referees, and the discussions about the "hospitality" they received from certain European clubs are truelly shocking.

Absolutely fascinating. Good mix of narrative and film.

It was said that referee's daughter was ill and needed an operation. Inter covertly gave the referee the money/bribe for it. The referee duly repaid Inter on the pitch! 🤔

Likewise but I like the way the bloke has focussed more on the general poor decisions throughout the match which, while the first 2 goals were debatable for the time, was more crucial possibly. Sir Roger summed it up well too about keeping the ball.

My main problem with football managers is how tactically naive they were. Again you can't say it was 1965 as the Hungarians had shown the WM up and if you thought about it 4--2-4 cannot be the answer.

Not at Anfield they weren't. They were well beaten..... without any help from the referee. Inter needed the referee to overcome Liverpool.
