      If there's a way you would naturally do that in the Chrome browser, or a suitable Android app I can't see why not? Would you also be using dictation? That's pretty smooth on a Chromebook - ruclips.net/user/shortsUG9CxsbYhKM

    Thanks for this review. I found the same refurbished model on eBay and have been debating it because I've never used a CB before. But it's labeled as "very good" refurbished, so for only $50 bucks, I figure it's a good beginners device.

      Glad the review helped, thanks for commenting. Is the one you've found the exact spec, with 32GB rather than 16GB storage? Something to definitely watch for. If you can afford to spend a bit more it may be worth it, opening up more choice to a newer/better spec'd Chromebook. Hi, thank you for your review. I am on the verge of buying a Chromebook for my daughter for school. Two basic models came up to mind, HP Chromebook 11 G8 and Samsung Chromebook 4, very similar spec with this Dell 3100. These two models are quite popular (in the Chromebook market) here in Indonesia. The second hand market is around 60-75 quid. I am wondering will the 32 GB be enough for daily stuff, and will adding extra SD storage enables me to install more app?
    I am also wondering whether the N4020 will be sufficient to handle future features of the ChromeOS until 2029. Previously, I was quite interested to buy a secondhand ASUS Chromebook Flip C302CA, but I noticed it is no longer supported since June 2023 (AEU) which leads to another question, is it wise to buy Chromebook that are no longer supported?
    One more question, my daughter loves playing Roblox. Have you tried playing some more demanding games (or at least can you try Dress to Impress) in Roblox on the Dell? Are there any lag or freezes?
    Thank you!

      Hi, thanks for checking out the video and your daughter is lucky you're putting the time into research to find her the best option for her Chromebook. In 2024 in general I find it hard to recommend Chromebooks with the Celeron N4020, it's getting old and has a shorter support life for ChromeOS (until June 2029). Could you check prices of Chromebooks with the next gen of Intel processors, either the Intel Celeron N4500 or the Pentium Silver N6000 ? Chromebooks with these will get ChromeOS updates until June 2031, so still a reasonable update life. Recently I showed the N4500 combined with 8GB RAM is still a really nice option in 2024 - ruclips.net/video/o-ejh-mB0JQ/видео.html If you want other examples of Chromebooks with these processors you'll find them (and others) in my playlist of Chromebooks that will receive ChromeOS updates until June 2031 - ruclips.net/p/PLNSLoCmFMc8o_W56KjSVL_esJe1CdiU_b Feel free to drop a question on any other video or let me know here if there are any Chromebooks with those processors that are priced reasonably in Indonesia.

      Hi, I mean for £20 you really don't have much to lose right? Even if you didn't like it I'm sure you could either get your money back or at least a tenner! If you've got more budget though and plan to use the Chromebook a lot, check out videos like the Acer 314 I paid £100 for recently, that came with the Celeron N4500 and 8GB RAM. On this Dell with the Celeron N4020, RUclips playback should be fine, tab number will come down to what sites you're in, just enable that newer Chrome memory management feature when you get prompted.

Check my profile page and look at the playlists of Chromebooks by size or by AUE date (that date up to which the Chromebook will receive updates) for some inspiration. I put windows 10 on this model....everything worked, even sound, but it was SLOW. I tried ChromeOS flex, it was fast enough for daily use, but no sound except for Bluetooth. I went back to GalliumOS, and updated the sources from Bionic to Focal Fossa and it is now running a supported Ubuntu, can run latest Chrome and Firefox and is FAST, FAST FAST again. Unfortunately no sound still, except for Bluetooth, or a USB headphone dongle. That's life in the Chromebook fastlane, surely make you loose your mind....

I'm afraid that I will hurt the battery and lose its capability in the short period of time

Like any device I'd say running it 100% of time on power probably isn't the best, maybe vary it up a bit but equally I wouldn't overly worry. Are you running the latest 118 ChromeOS build? Can this laptop run steam?

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  Месяц назад +1

      Hi, the Steam app is available via the Google Play Store in ChromeOS, but I'd say if you plan to buy a Chromebook to game on and use that and are considering this one, please try and compare to some other Chromebook options:
      * Processor - look for options with the Pentium Silver N6000 and see how much more expensive they are? The next step up to check against that would be say a Chromebook with the Intel N100 processor, you may find that's a bigger jump.
      * RAM - If you can find an option with 8GB RAM over 4GB RAM you'll also find it will help you out.
      * Display - look for a Chromebook with a better display, FHD rather than HD and IPS (more vibrant) rather than the TN display this one has.
      Please check the channel for some ideas and feel free to drop a question on any video.

      Can i just switch the ram to 8GB and what ram should it be?

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  Месяц назад +1

      @Polkcodot No, the RAM in this one like most Chromebooks is soldered to the board.

      @Polkcodot No worries, I'd really recommend looking for something slightly newer now with a more modern processor and potentially 8GB RAM. What's your budget and location?

      Checking from another Chromebook, via the Google Play store 'Call of Duty: Mobile Season 5' is available to install. I expect therefore it will be available on the Dell for install also and hopefully play OK. I would say in 2024 you can probably find a Chromebook with a newer processor for the same money though, check some of my recent reviews and deal posts on X/Twitter for some idea or drop me a question in comments.

      Hi, I think that's probably just the current price set on Amazon by some seller taking their chances. Possibly because you can't buy this model brand new anymore. If you search ebay you'll find lots of refurbished / second hand examples, just watch out for the exact spec. as I mention and avoid any with just 16GB of storage.
