Eheim is synonymous with historical quality, I still have a working pump from the eighties, a true relic of the aquarium world. I like the equipment of this aerator and the system to fix the diffuser, a low consumption and two adjustable outputs. Thank you for this review dear Daniel.
I love this series of Eheim air pumps! I'm currently using several of the 100, 200 and 400 series, all of them running without issue and most for over 3 years. They run pretty quiet anyway, but if you stand them on a thick piece of sponge then they run almost silent. Great review!
Thanks very much Ian. Yeah we can usually trust Eheim products for quality and being robust, this certainly seems to reflect that so far. Good to hear feedback from people like yourself who have run them for some time and can confirm their durability over a longer period.
Hi, I'm getting a new tank of just over 200 liters (says 215, but that is probably with nothing in it! I will keep it open). Anyway, I have a 100 model for my 80 liter tank and it works great, though I doubt it'll be enough for the new one I'm planning. Would the 200 or the 400 featured here be the best?
Awesome review Daniel! You're sooo close to 5k! Glad to hear the air pump doesn't use much power and the product itself looks very cool! Keep up the amazing work man! 👌
Im running these pumps on my 200 and fry rack, just a lower output version, first one is over 3 years old now and the only problem ive had was the felt filters getting clogged but that was easy enough to sort.
@@DanielKeepingFish My newest Eheim thing is an Eheim Pre-filter. It is like an excellent sponge filter attachment (of sorts) for the intake of most Eheim Canisters. I just added it to a tank that has Angelfish that have paired off. I've taken all the other fish out of this aquarium except for some small cory catfish. Yesterday she laid eggs again on an Anubias Plant and her mate came along and fertilized the eggs. His little penis is only seen or out for show when she lays the eggs. Otherwise it is hidden. They have always eaten the eggs but that was with guppies also in the fish tank. It may take three or four more tries before they realize what they are doing. The angelfish are only one year old and the pair are from different parents from different sources.
@@MichaelsHomeCooking it sometimes takes them a few attempts before they get better at being parents hey. I'm sure you've helped them to concentrate on it by taking the other fish out though. Hopefully be raising their fry soon. 🤞 I would give that pre-filter a try on my Eheim classic but unfortunately it's in the cupboard for now. I have kinda a love/hate relationship with canisters so I'm currently not running any but I'm sure I'll dig out the Classic again at some point and when I do I'll give the pre-filter you mentioned a shot no doubt.
Where abouts do I connect the non return air valve, between the pump and the pipe, or between the the other end of the pipe and the diffuser? I find it odd that it's as though they've purposely kept everything a mystery surrounding the non return air valve in the instruction manual, they don't even show one fitted in the picture of the pump in operation with a fish tank.
Need advice. My tank 3 foot tank is around 150 litres and want to add two-double sponge filters (each filter does 75 litres). What size Eheim pump will I need to power two double sponge filters?
I'm afraid I would struggle to answer this as I have never used the Schego. They are not typically available here. I would suggest checking through the reviews and basing your decision on that although if both seem comparable with each other you probably can't go far wrong with either. Let me know though. Would love to hear what you think about which ever you choose.
Thank you very much. Yeah I don't see why not. Only thing I can think might be a problem is you may get a whistle sound but might not. Worth giving it a try for the sake of buying a valve. They're pretty cheap and always come in handy. Other thing you could try is jamming a wee bit of sponge in the end of the tube.
Ive got Eheim 200…. But it wont stop taking back water mixing in. Air, and squeaking all the time, high pitch squeal… and has non return valve on it ?? Any advice please before i abandon the air pump…..? Only used for air input bubbles…Thanks..
Well if you're sitting quite near it in a completely quiet room you'll probably hear a wee hum but any kind of atmospheric sound I find you don't hear them.
@@DanielKeepingFish a hum or a rumble? My current one said it was silent and youd get a small hum and it sounds like a washing machine rumbling around.
Dear Daniel: Thank you for demonstrating this, fine product. May I know the cost? Amazon has no listing in the US for this kit, but recommends vendors, which start at $53.00 or £39.14. I’m a fan of Eheim’s products. I have several of their heaters. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
The price on Amazon which is where I got it is currently £39.55. I didn't pay that for it bud, I got it at sale price around Christmas but I can't remember exactly what that price was I'm afraid bud.
Dear Daniel: Thank you for the information. Eheim is located in Deizisau Germany. I really expected the price in Great Britain to be cheaper than in the US. It’s still a good price for this, fantastic kit. Sincerely, Brinegar
@@ejbrinegar yes an acceptable price no doubt. The UK is not in the EU any more of course. I'm not sure if that has any impact on prices for items produced in other parts of Europe, I don't follow politics or commerce that closely. I tend to look at prices of things in terms of values for money. If an air pump is priced at forty pounds and guaranteed to last for three years (probably longer) and likely to perform well for that period then I judge that to be great value hey.
Dear Daniel: I started one, macro-economics course in college. Though I stayed for about a week, there were only around ten who hadn’t dropped it, when I did. I don’t follow world events or politics, either. I couldn’t tell you how those things might affect pricing. Currently, I’m using an air pump I’ve had for at least ten years to hatch brine shrimp. I believe it’s the last one I have, which works. But, I’ll probably go with something cheaper than an Eheim, when this one fails. Sincerely, Brinegar
Greetings Daniell the Eheim air pumps has to be the best. For me, the most important aspect is the SILENCE. The last thing you want is to hear a pump buzzing. I don't like the diffuser big bubbles. I use the Aquario Neo Air Diffuser, very small bubbles that diffuse into the water.
Hi Robert and happy New Year. The Aquario a Co2 diffuser is it not? I'd always assumed they would not be suitable for air pumps due to them being more powerful than Co2 release at the rate we use in aquariums but even now I write this I'm aware of what people say about making assumptions. I might need to get one and give it a go to satisfy my curiosity now. Thanks for mentioning it.
@@DanielKeepingFish I almost mentioned this. They make a CO2 diffuser brown coloured ceramic and an Air diffuser white coloured. Easy to clean soaking in a thin bleach solution and I rinse them through with dechlorinator.
I've always preferred Eheim over other manufactures, robust, well-designed, good spares availability, and innovation, all backed by a confident guaranty. It's no wonder they've been around forever.
Thank you for this video ! As a newbie I was having a hard time setting up my pump and your video is the first one that actually made sense.
Ah cool. Glad helped you out the and welcome to the hobby. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Me too 😅

It was a Christmas gift from Mrs DKF. Thought "I know what I'll be doing with that" right away haha...

I guess it depends how much air you're looking to run but if you go for the 400 you can always turn the dials down if you feel it's too much hey.

I thought that may be an issue with the filters. Got a few ideas about that but mate. 😉
Eheim makes good products, I'm surprised it only uses 4 watts of power, awesome review!
Thanks bud. Yeah I love Eheim. Been dying to get another one of their air pumps for ages then seen this one for a price too good to refuse so... 😉
Happy New Years Daniel….what a beauty mate….love that diffuser 🥳🥳🥳
I know, pretty cool right? Happy New Yeah to you guys too. Hope it's a wonderful one for us all.
I use these on sponge filters in both large tanks for sponge filters nice and quiet ,,,yet again great content 😀
Thanks very much bud. Bet they perform well for you and your sponge filters hey.
Daniel, happy New Year. Thanks for the info, first time to see Eheim airpump.
Happy New Year also Luc. I hope it treats you well bud.
Very nice. Here there is not much of a variety of Eheim products available. Eheim is a favorite of mine for filters.

It's on the way! Will get the video out as soon as I am able work and family life permitting. 😉

@@WoodstarForges haha no washing machines. Just a wee hummer.
How would you say this compares to the Nicrew USB pump in noise and power?
It's much more powerful than the Nicrew bud but definitely nowhere near as quiet. The Nicrew is the quietest mid size air pump I've ever come across.
I love eheim, they are definitely worth the money.
Great video, but it’s important the air pump sits above the Water Level. 😎🙌🏻
