When I was first introduced to the movie, I felt bad for Mandy, like, everyone just liked her superficialy, but it didn't seem like anyone wanted to REALLY know her. I thought she was alone and I felt sad for her. But then I got to the ending and I was SHOCKED
@@jack_rabbit seriously.. the way Amber Heard was casted as the pretty manipulative psycho is crazy accurate. Also the fact that Amber called her character "vigilante. hero for bullied kids", should be a sign something is seriously wrong with her.
I love how timeless this movie feels. The fact that it was shot in 2006 and released in 2013, but looks like it could have been filmed in any year between the actual filming and release year. But also paying tribute to 70s/80s slashers with the cinematography and editing. And even today in 2024, there's really not a lot that screams "this is so 2006".
The clothes, makeup and hair scream it to me. I was sixteen in 2006 when this movie was made. I felt like this was a mid 2000s time capsule to a t but make it indie.
No it very much looks like 2006. The way it’s shot, the fashion, the music, the dialogue, etc. That’s something I love about the movie it’s so nostalgic
The reason the release was delayed so much was because it was way too ahead of its time, also the two main characters attempt to kill themselves near the end (but they change their minds)
I love how the other girls around Mandy look like the It Girl of the time, sleek hair, make-up, accessories, dresses... the entire palette; only Mandy has "beach wave". hair, no or little makeup, no jewelry, and clothes mostly in light colors and simple clothing. As if she was not on the same planet with the others and didn't need to be.
I started the video without having seen the movie. After watching it, I don't believe Mandy views Garth as her equal. From the beginning, it's clear she would never follow through with the pact with Emmet. She perceived him as weak and pathetic, likely aware he was spying on her, given that he views her like everyone else. Mandy Lane is a narcissistic sociopath who manipulated Emmet as her tool. The satisfaction on her face when she declares, "We should only be friends" and ends Emmet while he pleads reveals her sadistic nature. She likely felt powerful knowing Emmet's last thoughts were of his own inadequacy, realizing he was merely a pawn in her plan. She doesn't see anyone as her equal, not even Garth, who was simply a convenient way out and her alibi in the situation.
Maybe she doesn't see Garth as an equal, but in the movie, he is presented as the only one who does not fall on her beauty and charming manipulation and at least she respects him for that. Besides, he and she are the only ones who are left alive, she saved him so why she did do that, save him? Obviously, his sigma male allure attracted her to him. In the end, he is the only one who is "worth" according to her weird moral compass, skewed by the wrong understanding of Fridrich Nietzsche. In any case, he is the only real man in the movie.
I was obsessed with this movie as a teen ! I'm not sure what it was but the atmosphere in the isolated house, full of teens was so COLD when it really shouldn't because they're supposed to have fun and be young etc yet they don't enjoy themselves, only pretend to. The wide shots of the house and the feeling of nothingness/emptiness, the sun still rising no caring about their fate while they were all scared and having mental breakdowns. Such a cold movie yet such a familiar tone (depression/feeling lonely and scared/having this distance with other people yet wanting to be close to them/realing most relationships will be guided by our selfish desires and not true appreciation of one another)
I really liked the atmosphere too. From the very first shots there's a profound awkwardness that permeates the entire movie. Whatever the teens are up to never really feels glamorized, especially if it involves Mandy, it feels uncomfortable and icky at times. Plus Mandy's ethereal aura but absolute stiffness really sells that she genuinely isn't all there, she feels very distant to the others, even in very close scenes like Bird kissing her or her helping Chloe in the bathroom.
To answer your question, it makes perfect sense why she wanted to kill herself even though she felt Superior to others. She has a similar mindset of an incell like Elliot Rodgers and Bryan Kohberger, (and similar to the Columbine killers as you mentioned). I remember when I saw All the boys love Mandy Lane at age 13, it was Amber Heard's 1st movie I saw as a kid, who would have said many years later her Mandy Lane's role represented what Amber was really like in da real life "narcissist, manipulative and a toxic person" all the adjective she was over the trial with Johnny. That's what happens when you admire celebs, you dunno what they're really like behind the scenes, so I'm glad to know no one wants to work with her no more post-trial.

I love all of your analysis videos, thanks for these 💜
This movie looks really interesting, reminds a bit of that Monica Bellucci movie thats name completely escapes me lmao
Malena?
The soundtrack of this movie was my favorite back in the day.
Great review thank you 🙏🏽 I have to see this movie now.
hey,i love your videos and seeing a female take on female characters, not just male interpretation through the male gaze. i’d love to hear your take on betty blue (1986), it’s one of my favorite movies ever with a very interesting female lead played by beatrice dalle. i just thought i’d drop the idea here!
My first movie with Amber Heard… love love love it.
Would love to see ur take on The Neon Demon
I remember when I saw All the boys love Mandy Lane at age 13, it was Amber Heard's 1st movie I saw as a kid, who would have said many years later her Mandy Lane's role represented what Amber was really like in da real life "narcissist, manipulative and a toxic person" all the adjective she was over the trial with Johnny. That's what happens when you admire celebs, you dunno what they're really like behind the scenes, so I'm glad to know no one wants to work with her no more post-trial.
What?
the Dylan guy looks 40s 😂
watched this film today was so good. she’s really beautiful damn
My grandfather and I watched this together
I haven’t heard of this movie, but my god those movie clips look straight outta my Indiana upbringing lol
The girl walking around silo’s in high heels is so ridiculous & SO what teenagers do lmao
The scenes between Mandy and Chloe are really fascinating, it's like a hunter seducing her prey.
Your voice is so calming❤
I remember watching the movie after being recommended it because I had a true crime crush on Amber Heard. Fun fact: Amber Heard was an Ayn Rand fan as a teenager. So, that role has fit her perfectly.
I actually really like this movie, I know it didn’t get great reviews but I think it was pretty well done
I still stand with Amber Heard
Edit: it warms my heart to see the support for Amber grow and stay alive
Same, I have and forever will
you are in the minority 😂
Absolutely same. Once I saw his texts, I was shocked. It doesn’t take much to realize she was used. I hope she finds peace.
forever n always
I stand with her, also. It’s wild how many people fell for all of the DARVO.
Amber Heard is amazing. Mandy Lane is one of the greatest characters in horror movies.
wanna retype that sentence?
@@Amelia-qf2eqnope, wanna do some actual research on the case? a british court found that depp physically abused her on at least 13 occasions. and look up his texts with paul bettany, depp fantasized about murdering her and r*ping her corpse
@@Amelia-qf2eqnah, Amber is amazing.
@@Cauldron6 yikes...
@@Amelia-qf2eq He gets it. One day, people will re-tell the story of what happened. It’ll be like Britney Spears - everyone will pretend they weren’t aware of the abuse going on, though it happened largely in sight, cheered on by an irresponsible media. Amber’s not a perfect victim. But guess what, no one is.
Can you make a video on “Before I Fall”?
True! It is a good movie. That got buried by the stupid Weinstein (
How have I never heard of or seen this movie?
Great video. Thank you
Ik this is like a month later but I wanted to I love and look forward to you're posts. Also ik you like doing horror movies but have you ever thought about doing i believe in unicorns. Just a thought lol love your vids!
Those scissors were huge!! 😂
i know i saw that movie but can t remember any of it
I had just watched something on Jennifer's Body and I was struggling to think what the title of this film was.
Honestly, after seeing Emmett scantily clad, he's a fair bit broader than the skinniest person I've ever been with. There's truly nothing wrong with that body type; it may not be the most popular but those who like slim men exist. Like all the rest, it's sad he wasn't given the opportunity to grow up and become a better person. Without Mandy, he may or may not have done anything like this; it's hard to tell, but regardless his insecurities were unnecessary.
You should do a video on belle de jour! I would love to hear your thoughts on that one
Amber heard was very beautiful here, like Kirstin Stewart.
Harvey and his brother should be called out for their mistreatment
Amber Heard have that beauty.
You should talk about amy dunne
Excellent video! I like it!
I like how you say pool party.
I first tought this guy Dylan is some 40- something creep, not their peer😂🤣
This reminds me of a not so good disco pigs
One of my favorite films!
Amber heard is beautiful and talented. I feel terrible for how she’s treated
😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely agree.
She's a narcissist
Lmao no
Amber was targeted by her abuser and the public piled on her. I wish Amber Heard nothing but goodness and light ❤️
Sharp Object analysis next please!
I love this movie and Amber Heard!!
Says a lot about you as a person 😂😂
That tells me all I need to know about you if you support a horrible human like her..
@@amberlambuth3894 Johnny supported a pedo, has been racist, and is just all around a aggressive person.

Amber Heard one of the most underrated horror actresses

Do you think you could do a video about poor creatures ? I know it's a new film but I'm struggling to wrap my mind around it and I would love to have your impressions on it ?
It's all so cringe.
This video will survive the natural selection.
Glad to see the support for Amber!❤
3:15 everyone
Can you do Queen Akasha from Queen of The Damned next?
They were the sheep in Amber's heard😉
*ba dum chhh*
Yoooooooooo!! I see what was done there!!

Well an unhinged sociopath played by AN unhinged sociopath.
Perfect casting.
