    Quite the repertoire - this young lad is pulling out all the stops for his mate.
    I have one here in Tucson AZ and has been singing up a storm AT NIGHT - since April 1 - it's now 10days later, still going strong!

    There’s a mockingbird in my area who is very loud. Like 2 AM wailing. Played this on speaker. Eventually he flew over and cased the area. He looked so confused? Then I start hearing the video I just played… it’s him! I play it louder until he stops. Problem solved, right? He flies into MY TREE 😑 and starts copying this video. So I play this video while putting this speaker right under him. I pause ever so often to see if he keeps going. Eventually he’s SCREAMING at the top of his lungs. Then he stopped. He flew down to my part of the back. He just stood there and made no noise. I fed him some crushed walnuts as consolation. Incredible sport. He shouldn’t have tried me twice.

    I love nature and almost all the sounds that come with it. But this bird lived what felt like in the walls of an old house I used to rent in. Every night around 1am this thing went to town for about 3 hours. I would lose my mind just laying in bed rolling over and over. Ear plugs did nothing either, it was like he was screaming these calls at the top of his lungs into a megaphone 😑😑😑.

      Cat-calls are out of the question, and approaching one of these feminist-cult members in a nightclub to dance - means they can tell you "NO" while laughing with their friends. ....I'm a female, and always notice how obnoxious these feminist females are toward males. I began whistling back at a mockingbird that began singing at night on my apt patio! Now when I want to see him/her it flies right up to me and sings! Is this unusual behavior? It’s the same bird ! It’s almost like a connection I’ve made with this individual mockingbird! Up to this point, I didn’t even know what kind of bird this was! When I walk out to my patio , it’s waiting!

    • @RaoulPop
      @RaoulPop  5 лет назад

      It is possible you've made a connection there. It's also possible that the male sees you as a threat and is simply standing up to you. Two quotes from Wikipedia apply here:
      (1) The northern mockingbird is known for its intelligence. A 2009 study showed that the bird was able to recognize individual humans, particularly noting those who had previously been intruders or threats.
      (2) The birds aggressively defend their nests and surrounding areas against other birds and animals.[27] When a predator is persistent, mockingbirds from neighboring territories may be summoned by distinct calls to join the defense. Other birds may gather to watch as the mockingbirds harass the intruder. In addition to harassing domestic cats and dogs that they consider a threat,[11] mockingbirds will at times target humans.

    I've heard them here in our N. California neighborhood, amazing range of sounds they have. However, the past two weeks there has been a Robin perched in 30' tree next door, usually on the same branch chirping for about an hour or so before sunset. I believe it's a male and I told my wife I kind of feel sorry for him because he hasn't attracted a mate yet. In the last 4 or 5 years around this time there was a pair of nesting Robins in the neighborhood, they returned every year and used to come down to our backyard lawn to search for worms and grubs. I didn't know what tree they were nesting in and in this latest Robin encounter, I don't know whether it is one of the pair that lost his mate or one of their offspring? I know very little about birds, but I find them fascinating and beautiful, but do Robins keep the same mate year after year? Thanks for posting his voice, pretty cool.

If it is a regular resident in your neighborhood, you can do some whistling and it will pick it up. I used to visit a Parrot in local shopping center and would do the "wolf call" whistle. After a couple of weeks the local Mockingbird had that whistle in it's repretoire! Pretty neat!

    He is wonderful :) He is probably also singing loud to drown out all the city noise in the background, and I don't blame him! How anyone can complain about birds singing makes no sense, when NO BODY makes more or worse noise than the sounds of PEOPLE! I moved out in the boonies to get away from the cars & trucks & jets & construction work & machinery & loud parties & especially motorcycles, and BOOM - the people noises are still way out here ALL OVER THE PLACE! You can not get away from it! People have no right to complain about birds singing, imagine how hard it is on birds trying to live among US! Occasionally a Mocking bird will sing outside my window at night and I LOVE IT, I will open my window and go to sleep in tranquility, that is what bird singing is to me. Thank you for sharing the beauty of God's most special gift to us, birds! And especially the singing birds. God bless you, and ALL of HIS BIRDS! :)

    I played this as loud as I could on my laptop in our backyard and the mockingbird finally flew away- it was screeching ("beautifully calling") out for half an hour and it was driving me nuts. Previously they had nested in a tree by our front door- dive bombing us and everyone who walked by. We let them be, and protected them from cats, but had to remove the nest promptly afterwards.
    I can't help but disagree- I hate these birds. I mean they're doing their job but they're so obnoxious and loud.

    There are two mocking birds outside of the house and they lived here for some time now... They like to swoop down and like my dogs butt or like pick at the cats.. territorial? Anyways.. heard a horrible screeching just now... Super super loud 15m.. might've been one of them stuck in the tree? It's 2am.. it just rained.. I can't tell. :(

      Some people have had luck with playing this video at them, it drove them away. Try it.

    Are there gay mockingbirds?

    • @kittypurr11
      @kittypurr11 5 лет назад +1

      No. The entire point of a bird's life is to reproduce before they die; therefore they need 1 male, 1 female to make them babies.
