This is a 3 hour non repeating, non- looped relaxing video of actual Pacific Ocean waves crashing against a beach. At the beginning of the video the sun rises behind the camera to light up the waves and shore birds. At 31:34 shore birds arrive.
High Tide was at 9:20am (about half way through the video). Filmed from 8am to 11am. Marine Street Beach near the community of La Jolla, California is legendary to body surfers and body boarders because of its thunderous waves, which crash right at shoreline. However, this beach may not be ideal for families, as the rough surf is not well suited to children. The rough waves at this beach have been known to cause serious injury to swimmers and body boarders.
Some play this video to relax or for insomnia to help them sleep. Nature sounds like these ocean waves, waterfalls, rain, thunder, and lightning help lullaby you into deep relaxation and sleep provide white noise for tinnitus sufferers and insomniacs

Finally, a video that uses REAL ocean sounds. Most of the others just use a studio recording / loop that sounds so unrealistic.
So glad this is still up. I have watched this for years! My daughter and I used to sit in the garden with our feet in the sand pit and close our eyes and dream that we were at the sea! Now she lives near the beach! Dream come true!

So I am from San Diego and I didn’t realize different beaches sounded different, but this one sounds like home. Thank you.
It has to do with breakline... where the waves break. This is really short and known in the La Jolla area beaches, but not all. These were my dad's favorite beaches in San Diego. I prefer IB at the pier. But I love the sound here as it's not as thunderous as IB.
It also depends on the terrain. As you can see from the shadows, this is a short shoreline from the hills/cliffs. 😊
I'm so glad the internet can brings us something like this when we can't always afford to go to these places. Thanks to whoever made this, it really is quite awesome.

Remember as children coming to the beach, mesmerized by the sound of the waves and breathing ocean. How freeing it was and still is, washing away all our troubles for the day, coming away feeling so refreshed? I have to tell you how much this video has been a HUGE blessing to me since i found it several years ago ~ i live in Nashville TN about 8 hours from the beaches and whenever i want to relax and just focus on a book or the Word of God it always calms me down and reminds me of our Creator who has made everything good! I always smile when i hear the man talking to you - who you thought ruined your recording - and i am always a little envious watching the men in wetsuits playing in the waves, especially the one who squeals with delight at a monster wave coming down on them! I know this was a few years back, but what part of San Diego are you from, if you don't mind me asking? I moved around a lot on this side of the country but always ended up back in San Diego. I don't want to give my location since I currently live in SD, but I used to live South Bay for part of my childhood and part of my teens 🌅

Used to have a place further north in Solana Beach, and used to sit for hours doing what I can now do with my Apple TV and big screen at home, which is to listen to the waves as they actually sound. Thanks for this. Love it.

The sound quality makes my apartment feel like it's a beach house. Many other videos/sounds sound canned or manufactured. This video was recorded with very clear audio and at a beach spot where the wave intervals are well spaced, offering the spacial variable that makes ocean tones sound "relaxing."

I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA less than a block from the beach. The sounds of the surf bring back memories of the better days of my youth. I love the video and play it while I write. Anoher thing I like is it is not on a loop. The guys in wet suits really move the clip thru time. A simple but enjoyable video. Thanks for posting it.

I just caught the scent of saltwater breeze in the air. :) It was nice watching the sun rise up and become noon, and to watch the people diving in the waves.
I also have treasured this for years! It’s an essential part of my morning quiet time. I can light a candle and start the waves and just have quiet sacred time until I hear our friend at the 15 minute mark. Wonderful!

Thank you so much for filming this! I wanted my brain to stop thinking and stressing and I listened to regular music and it made it worse and I was looking up quotes which made it worse but one of the quotes was about waves and I searched a video and this popped up and it's perfect. My mind is at ease now so thank you.

So many other videos seem to speed up the frequency of waves. They just don't sound right. This is just right, although I'd love to be able to hear the waves as they drag back out as well but hey. I'm just being fussy. Hopefully this'll help me sleep. :)

I have never commented on anybody's video before, but I really enjoyed this video. I use to live 10 minutes from the beach and recently moved where the nearest beach is over an hour and a half. I miss whomping in those wonderful shore breaks. Marine street is- well it was way back when, anyway- one of my favorite haunts. It's changed down there, in fact the whole city of SD isn't like it was- too many heads, too many rules (especially in the beach areas), too expensive, etc etc. This video brings back a lot of good memories just the same.

Thank you so much. When I was a kid we always lived near the ocean, but for the past 36 years this has not been the case. The countryside has its own delights, but I do miss the ocean. I wish I had a huge screen on which to show this, but I can be content with this little one. Now, if I could just smell the salt air and feel the vapor. Also love those little birds (sandpipers?).

Great video. I live in a beach community in the coastal bend in south Texas. I moved from Cali to Austin back in 2003. I was so stressed out and finally figured out I had to get back to the oceans. I miss Cali beaches. I am happy to be near the marina and on an island peninsula near the island of Port Aransas. Thanks for the beautiful relaxing ocean waves. The ocean is part if my blood, I am convinced

This video is used in an app for my Samsung SmartTV, credited to Dennis Hansen. I put this video on almost every night to help me fall asleep. It's beautiful to look at before I close my eyes, and the sounds of waves crashing works like a charm to help me fall asleep. Love it.
