women race and class is an all time favorite nonfiction for me!
I am looking through my shelves and I've realized that I've read every Angela Davis book except Women, Race, and Class! I need to correct that, so I'll be on the lookout for a copy. And I am SO excited for you to read Ottessa Moshfegh. I find her work quite fascinating, and I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

I read The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter back in October and it was one of my favorite books I read last year! Her writing is so sumptuous and scrumptious. lol, those are the words that come to mind for me, haha! I immediately bought some of her other work and a collection of essays on her work, but haven't gotten around to them, yet. I'm currently reading Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder (+ in the middle of some other books). Though I've been pretty busy and haven't picked anything up in at least a week, I'm eager to get back to it!! I'm thinking of picking up Bunny by Mona Awad or A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G. Summers after finishing it, which both sound amazing! I've heard mixed things on Bunny but I love dark academia and 'unhinged woman' books so I'm hoping it aligns with what I like and enjoy. They both sound wild!

Second Star to the Right by Deborah Hautzig has probably the best (slightly deranged/plagued by an ed/scarily smart) female narrators I've ever come across. I read it as a kid and I still love her.
i ADORED women race and class, it was so insightful. i could not put it down (coming from someone who forces herself to read non-fiction)

if you want some more smut and politicking in a fantasy setting, you should definitely check out the Kushiel's Dart series by Jacqueline Carey! The first trilogy is from the early 00s but holds up very well in my opinion (and I've definitely enjoyed them more reading them now as an adult). There are three separate trilogies set in the same world and I've only read the first trilogy, so I can't speak for the others, but I've heard good things.

Because this year marks the centenary of the publication of Joyce's Ulysses and Eliot's The Waste Land, I'm teaching a course on the two texts in the fall. So, I've been buying some Joyce and Eliot criticism that I didn't already own, the Oxford World Classics editions of Joyce's books, and a couple books that are more generally about literary modernism. The two coolest books that I've bought are the Cambridge Centenary Ulysses, which is a gargantuan reproduction of the original 1922 text, complete with all kinds of scholarly essays and editorial apparatus, and an illustrated edition of Ulysses made by the Spanish painter Eduardo Arroyo. Before the latter could be published, it had to wait for Joyce's novel to fall into public domain because the Joyce estate refused to grant approval to illustrated editions of Joyce's books and was notoriously litigious against people and publishers who put out books without the estate's permission.
