Extremely dry skin which is often genetic is known as Ichthyosis Vulgaris. Ichthyosis is a word that says fish like scales. Often what is seen on people with Ichthyosis Vulgaris is extremely dry skin and the scales on the skin looks like scales on a fish is what is known as Ichthyosis Vulgaris.. Usually this is a genetic condition and it is inherited and what treatment we give is to make the skin look better and to make it more softer feel better and to reduce the itchiness and dryness associated with this condition. The treatment of Ichthyosis Vulgaris is by using a body wash that is pH balanced. Application of a thick moisturizer with ceramides, humectant. Frequent replacement of moisturizer is also required because in Ichthyosis Vulgaris the moisturizer secreted by the skin itself is very low and use of some glycolic acid peels to improve the cosmetic appearance of the skin can be tried. Supersaturation with oral ceramides and Omega 3 fatty acids can make the Ichthyosis. Better. If you feel you have Ichthyosis and you cannot have improvement with these suggestions, please speak to your dermatologist today.

I have this skin condition too it is depressing sometimes. My palm get very dry and hard, I have used so many moisturizers that didn’t work now I use glycerin after bath. Now I know that I am not alone and I pray that God heals everyone
You are not alone. I have same problem only glycerin works for me. The most difficult time is after you take bath and your skin irritates you too much that you can't wear jeans or anything tight.

My daughter was born with this skin condition I used all types of cream .dematogist prescribed all.types of cream nothing work.I did my research. The only cream that works is Amalatin lotion with lactic acid 3% or 4 % I have the same skin condition also but my daughter skin is worse than mind .This cream is very good her skin is smooth like velvet .Its on Amazon in a green bottle or blue bottle.

I was born with this disorder and cold weather was and is the worst time of year for me. I am 52 years old now and my symptoms are not as severe as they were while growing up. There were times when my skin would crack and bleed with severe pain. Back then the only advice we received from the doctors, "Move to Arizona." My mother would encase me with Vaseline each night before bed and sometimes Crisco. The itchiness can be worse at night and the Gold Bond anti itch formula works wonders. I never knew how rare this disorder was until I started doing research for my toe nails. Yes, this disorder can affect those as well. Be kind to your feet now so you won't pay the price later. i suffered from it since childhood..it was genetic in my case...but it has improved greatly with age....in summers its ok...but in winters skin cracks would appear with flaky skin...fortunately we wear full sleeves in winters....

I am suffering from this disease since childhood . In summer skin looks normal but in winter condition become severe . I was treated in AIIMS DELHI where the dr . recommended me venusia max lotion but it didn't help too much . Then in safdarjung hospital I got treated in ayurvedic department there they recommended me some good medicines and oil that helped me in getting relief as there is no cure for this it was very helpful to get relief.

I have this from my childhood and like in winters it's like ..I hate to say ...bad..and always used to think like what will others say if they see and all ...the methods I do is applying oil before bathing after that usually rose water with glycerine mix apply after the bath and...moisturex cream ...for me this has been very much positive as it does some good look to the skin also when going outside I prefer shoes and socks becuase the direct sunlight on the foot does bring more wrinkle look into it ...I hope you guys find this helpful

I'm suffering from this on both of my legs & hands after taking oral antibiotics for pneumonia. So practically my condition is not genetic but it hasn’t improved at all. Some judgemental people looks at my hands and feet, laugh and later gossip about it and nobody wants to believe it that I'm only 23 years old. It’s really embarrassing and depressing. I can't take it anymore, I want my normal healthy skin back!

I've been struggling with this condition since I was 11 years old. I always was embarrassed to show my legs during the summer season. But what I have learned about my over dry skin. In the winter month it's very flaky and doing the summer months it seems like the sun gives me relief from the itchiness. And once every month I will go get my legs waxed it helps take off all the dead skin and make it look more suitable and moisturizer. I also find relief and using Gold Bond diabetic lotion in mixing it with olive oil. It keeps my legs moisturised throughout the day.
I wax my skin also. It’s the best treatment by far and nobody talks about it. I use Ultra healing Curel after.

I have these from my childhood, i cure alomost this by ayurvedic treatment, and try to use sebamed cleansing soap its having very less ph level and its reduces wrinkles and flaky skin, and try to put pure coconut or olive oil in a week and leave it for dry before going to bed and also use sebamed dry skin urea lotion after bath, its feels better, i tried so many well known brands available in the market, thats not worked 👍🏻❤ its a skin condition not a disease, dont worry, stay positive😊 be happy🌸

Glycerin application when the skin is wet after a bath or shower. After 5 mins, Follow this up with your usual moisturiser... works even in winters. Repeat this twice a day if condition is really bad. Should help.

There is no permanent solution till now. May be in future. But not till now
I have this since I was very young I just discovered this now 17. I have a dark skin which white lines are visible in my ankle. There are no cure to this, but lotion can help your skin not to be dry and flaky. I was onced embarrassed when I see my arm is white flaky and shredding and its worse if you scratch it. If you forgot to put lotion it's fine, just put Alcohol or water to your arms and legs and the flaky will temporarily disspear for a few hours.
Tips:
If you have hairy legs or arm. Do not shave or trim your hairs. Just let them cover your ichthyosis.

Try applying heated soft wax hair removal in small amounts to your skin and removing it with a cotton strip. It will remove the dead skin and make your skin soft and normal. Apply lotion (Curel Ultra Healing) after to remove any sticky residue. It changed my life forever.

I am having this since i see this world (Childhood) and my brother too have the same problem. I hate this condition, i grow up with comments from other kids that your skin is like animal, they laugh at me, i am 36 now, still its the same, and in summar my skin is pretty fine, but in winters it get worse and worse, my son has very less like me conditions, I am not planning 2nd child due to this skin issue, i dont want my child to grow up in discrimination by the society and i can't see them facing this situation because of me.
Hello uncle i am a 17 years old girl i have this problem too and it is genetic since my childhood i regularly apply a thick body lotion and now i am 17 and it's is going away just Little bit is left on my legs. So just don't take big decisions like not making another baby and all because of this problem. it is not a big deal. Just a balanced diet and skin care is enough.

Can't even bare AC for a minute since I have this issue from my birth. It is always irritating people keep asks me whether my skin burnt or something happened. I feel no moisturizer works, all temporary.. Skin is like plastic
I wish to add few words to this problem. I have this problem since birth, in those days there was no ways even to make it better. Doctors did not have much knowledge in this area. Well today i am 65 years, after moving out of India to Australia 34 years , i found the best care you can have with cream. I will share it now and i have been using it from last 32 years. Yes there is medicine it makes skin better but has long term effect on bones, i had it for short period but i suggest to manage with this cream and take by mouth fish oil 1000mg, 2 capsules, flaxseed oil 1 tablespoon . Now cream in India it is moisturex but my composition is as follows: 10% urea, 3%salicylic acid, 10% glycerin, 10% Lactic acid in water based cream, i use Sorbolene cream. You may be able to source this in India and mix it by yourself and after bath use it & see the results.
For face i use vaseline and just may be 2 rice equivalent of moisturex. Now cream i was looking on net in India you may use is G-Next moisturising Cream (Ethinext Pharma) it has 15% glycerin which is good or Medimade Wellness Aloe Vera & Vitamin E Moisturising Cream. You increase say lactic acid/urea etc little bit does not have be very accurate. Better result can be achive if you increase fish oil capsules to 4 means 2 in morning 2 in evening.

Try eating Natto on a regular basis. High in vitamin K2, K2 distributes calcium where it should go, bones, teeth, fingernails. Prevents calcification in joints and arteries, my theory is the scales on your skin contain calcium as well, K2 could take the calcium away from those scales. Please give it a try I have noticed a difference
Answer - Castor Oil (Hexane free). Use at night before bed, wrap to keep moisture in. Apply few times a day. And remember to keep hydrated with water & proper amounts of electrolytes so as not to deplete. Enough of that it's genetics without real fix.

I think we can treat it by gene editing technology.It can be Heredity or some mistake in DNA, its actually a mutation called loss-of-function mutations in the filaggrin gene (FLG).I too have it but my parents, grandparents, or my brother dont have it and I am just 13 year old and some times I feel uncomfortable, but sure in future I will definitely have gene therapy, but I surely dont know the cost of it. It may be expensive. I think by this I can give hope to someone.

Few years ago I had edema and swelled all over my body almost triple in size. After being hospitalized and medication my I got better. However my shins never recovered fully. What resulted after the effects of my edema was my skin looming lime this. I have had great success with vitamin K2-MK7, found in Natto or vitamin supplement. Have been taking for a year now, scales on my arms and legs have diminished greatly. Please give it a try!!!!!!

U can prepare a serum, take Equal amount of glycerin and rose water(1:1) put it in a container even u can add lemon juice into it,it is optional ,lemon can lighten your skin which look better..apply daily 2 times, one immediately after bath and other during night ,remember while applying to your body ,u should have little bit of wetness in your body..that means after bath or wash ,u just have to dab with towel, then apply the above told serum....u will be surprised to see the result within a month , u have to apply it in your whole life...
