- Another Sketch with me, this time it is horses! Please remember that my Sketch with Me video arent meant to be perfect, they are showing how I as an artist practice. Q:What penci, paper, pen (etc) do you use?
A: I generally use a 2b drawing pencil and artist sketch paper, sometimes Bristol. Check out my Art Supplies video for more information. • Drawing Supplies
Q: How do you record your videos?
A: I use a Sony Handycam HD to record my videos and Adobe Elements Premier for editing
Q: Can I send you mail?
A: Yes! Make sure you check that the correct postage is on the envelope or it won't make it to me.
Q: Will you write me back?
A: If you include a self-addressed stamped envelope, I will reply back to you! :)
Q: Can you draw a picture of my dog. horse, cat, Mother (Etc)
A: Unfortunately, I am unable to take personal requests. If you are interested in purchasing a commissioned drawing from me, send me a message for more information.
Q: How can I get better at drawing?
A: The biggest thing you can do is keep drawing! Never give up.

The horse head that took 2 mins was better than a head I could do in an hour
Your instructions are great! I have a horrible time with the body, heads I can do. Actually I'm working on the rotation of the heads in different poses. My favorite thing to do are the eyes, or just the muzzle, or half a face.. So thanks for doing to body poses. Also I love that your left handed! Me to!! God bless!
I love your sketch with me videos. They always inspire me to draw, whether or not it's the same trying you're drawing.
I like practicing horses, wolves, and hair? I find hair soothing to draw. Just the depth and shading is what I enjoy when drawing.

Im practicing my big cats, because i made a species and its basically a saber tooth with horns and a fluffy tail, so if i can get a lions body structer down ill be good

ooo I would love to see a timed sketch for like 5 minutes or something where you draw something out of a set theme, like mermaids, fairys, kittens or whatever :) and the challange is to draw one in regular pencils or colored pencils vs watercolor vs markers vs something else you havent used in a while. This will help you see for yourself what you can do in 5 minutes in different mediums and since all are the same subject in different styles you will get pretty cool comparison pieces. Interested? :)
I draw horses too but mine are 100% references free. Free handed and off my head.
Wish I could show you one of mine. Been drawing horses since '02 and still going strong
My fisrt drawings were scary as heck though if I had an older one and a newer one youd see the HUGE differences and progress that was made from the first drawing to drawings now

I didn't have time to watch this yesterday because I went to a tulip festival (pretty pictures, yay!) but I'm watching now! :) Obviously!
I'm also needing a little advice. There's a Western State art contest that I'm currently working on my entry to, but I know I'm not going to win. I've never even won the teen contests for the local library system, so how could I be chosen as a finalist for an entire state? I'm crying and I don't know what to do besides pray for comfort, but I really want to win.

It's quite an embarrassing thing for me to talk about and I don't know if you've ever had that problem but I hate that inside myself, getting envious of other artists and comparing yourself to them and all that...
