    I bought a 2023 indy LXT 550, moatly for ice fishing. On the trails i dont have any issue keeping up with some larger sleds. The fan cool has been great with the subpat snow we've been getting in Maine.

    I have been out of snowmobiling for 10+ years and this year i bought a 550 with the 144 inch track. I could not be happier with the performance of this sled, it has done everything ive asked it to including ditch banging it through soft deep powder that i should have had no business going through. Its not going to beat your buddies turbo sled in a drag race but if you want to have clean cheap fun on the trails this sled is hard to beat!

      Well said! It has 1/2 the horse power as my 800 on paper, but definitely not only 1/2 the performance. They are hard on fuel, but hold their value very well in the used market!!

    Hey. That was a great video. Very informative. I have never had a snowmobile before and want something for my wife and I up in New Hampshire just for cruising some trails. I'm looking for a decent entry level machine that won't break the bank. I'm not looking to crank along at 50 plus miles per hour but it would be fun to kick it up now and then. Plus the long track is something I was looking for when I want to have the occasional ride with my wife and I on the snowmobile at the same time taking a short trip from our place to a neighbor's. Thanks again for showing the turning radius, the uphill climb, and quickness of the sleds.

    The 550s are great lightweight sleds, but my issue with them in Canada is they cost a fair amount more than a Ski-Doo 600 EFI. With 25-30 more hp, liquid cooling, EFI, and the same p-drive primary as the 850 you get a lot more tech under the hood for less money.

    • @jamieandkids7948
      @jamieandkids7948  Год назад +1

      But when you have kids and a wife who don’t understand the way to keep a liquid cooled sled cool, you run into issues. No worries for me with a fan sled!

    • @jonl2938
      @jonl2938 Год назад +1

      @@jamieandkids7948 I hear that. Taught the kids about cooling, but if they’re just chugging slowly around our property it doesn’t pick up much snow for cooling. Have a 600ace with an air radiator for that, works awesome.

    Great video! Brought back a few memories of my terrific first sled, a 2000 Indy Trail Touring. Back then the 550's were by Fuji Heavy Ind. Right now I have a '16 Switchback 600, also an incredible machine (in spite of the fuel pump recall, still waiting for repair, Polaris), but I do believe one day I'll get another 550, but a Voyageur 144. It's just a good, fun and reliable machine. Would really like to see Polaris do some minor updates to this platform. No complaints with the ProRide, but replace the running boards to more modern snow evacuating boards and put EFI on the 550, a 1.6" track and handlebar hooks. I'm not alone in this idea and those are not earth shattering changes. I'd like to think that's what they're doing since the '23 to '24 model year price increase on the fans is $1000 with no other change than "bold new graphics." The rest of the lineup (Matryx) still got a significant price bump, expected in this economy, but far less of an increase. (I've had this conversation with Polaris and they were receptive but non-committal, of course, but I was at least able to contact them).

      Those would be fantastic changes for sure! Very much would set this sled apart from the competition. I looked at the voyager when I got my long track. One day I will have one of them as well, but figured with the kids only being young still, the lighter version would be a better fit for us.

    • @papagrouch8416
      @papagrouch8416 Год назад +1

      Absolutely. I bought that Trail Touring when my son was 8 and it served us really well (added heated grips and grip fairings in back though). When my folks came up to visit we rode 2-up on that sled with 0 problems. On the lake, 25 or 60 it was a gas (never felt a need for 85+)! Honestly, that 550 is civilized enough to start on and plenty of schnort to be great over many many years. Yeah, the more I hear you motoring around on that fan the more I miss my 550!
