I find both the previous generation Touareg, and this yet-to-be released model utterly captivating. I cannot wait until september when this sexy utilitarian beast hits the showrooms! It's sort of a let-down how they're not as off road oriented though.
the taxi ride in Rome was the craziest experience I've ever had in a car. It makes NYC or Seoul look like easy country crusin' (ok, maybe not Seoul).
V6 TDI is the way to go but if you have the money the V8 TDI is a real monster
VW hasn't been a low end car manufacturer for while now. I would never compare them to a hyudai and they are most certainly not in the same price range.

@martinkleeberg V6 TDI, you can do more with it and one full diesel tank will last way more miles than gas.

I’ve been looking for a Volkswagen Touareg myself and I always wanted a new one with the adaptive suspension and was always wondering why I couldn’t find one with it and when I found out they didn’t offer it here I was sad

I am american, and i personally love diesel. My parents just bought a bmw x5d. its a 3L 6 cylinder turbo diesel. 400lbsft of torque and itll get 45 mpg if you drive it right.
WHats power and torque for the V8 TDI?
How much fuel does the V6 tdi bluemotion take in the town?
@ilia93 Ok, this is what I understand from what he is trying to say. When he refers to low end or high end cars, he is not talking about low or high quality. He is referring to Regular or Premium segment. I believe it is a misunderstanding since he is not using the proper names (I believe). VW as car brand is not a Premium brand, it is actually a brand at the Hyundai, Toyota or Nissan level, regular brands, BMW or Audi are premium brands. even though VW is more expensive, it isnt premium.
@ilia93 I don't know where you are getting your information from, but VW's prices are very competitive across the board, at least in North America. And now I realize I was arguing a serious topic with a 17 year old Bulgarian who has a dream of owning a vw one day.
5:37 is that a confirmation that V8 TDI will be comming to North America???
@ilia93 VW by itself is a lower end car manufacturer. VW AG owns VW and other subsidiary's. Just like Fiat, a low end brand, is owned by Fiat S.p.A, which also owns Maserati and Ferrari.
I have a first generation Touareg in the states, it is amazing, I prefer the Pheaton style front if the first Touareg, however comparing the new Touareg with the rest of the new suvs in the states IE Cadillac, it will better for less money, $25.000.U.S. less. some of my fellow Americans are stuck on the old beatle and will not look at a B5 Passat.
@ilia93 Haha! Ford at one time owned Land Rover, Aston Martin and Volvo- does that make Ford a high end manufacturer? If I buy stocks in Rolls-Royce but I drive a Honda, does that make my Honda high end? Ownership of high end companies does not mean that everything VW makes is also high end. I agree that the Touareg is not exactly in the lower realm of Hyundai, Kia etc, but nor is it truly competing with BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover and others.

@ilia93Way to be a hypocrite and take what he is saying out of context. When he says VW is low end he is referring to their prices, in that the lower end of the middle class can afford them as practical everyday cars not their quality which is well known to be good. They even go on to ask if BMW, Audi, Merc and Lexis( more high end) are worth the price that they are sold for when compared to cars such as this one.
Boy, people who don't think before they speak really bug the crap out of me...
@ilia93 Just because you have one or two flagship models in your lineup doesnt make the manufacturer high end.Chevrolet has Corvette ZR1 that sells for over 100 grand. Hyundai is also coming up with Equus which will rival the likes of 7 series, S class; yet Hyundais bread and butter is small, cheap vehicles. While VW is stepping up the luxury and price, their primary market is still cheap, utilitarian vehicles such as Golf, Jetta and Passat. If VW is truly going all luxury they would drop Audi.
