Give it plenty of light when it grows, and water it adequately during summer, but don't overdo it (around once a week is sufficient). It grows best when it recieves lots of light, warm temperatures, and free flowing air.
This is my experience growing it for the first time this year.. They were hung outside from June thru to October, full sunlight, 8hrs a day, hardiness zone 5-6. From late July all thru early September, it rained here every other day. The soil in their pot was so saturated, it was like wet cake. Unbelievably, they did really good, and put on massive growth and sprouted numerous pups. I won't be repeating this next year though. Only did last summer cause I was laid up after surgery and didn't pull in my plants during those rainy months. Lost many Trichocereus species though.
Not sure, but I have purchased a smaller one that is grown from seed, once they seem to get to the thickness of your finger, they seem to grow quite quickly.
With a tail that long, you can cut it into many pieces and get lots of new plants from it. If you cut it near the base of the plant, you may get it to branch out like my plant.
I think the white bristles get slightly longer each year, but the spines do not. If the spine broke off but the areole is still in tact, it may be able to grow out again. If the entire areole came off, it will not grow back. If you've got a bald section on the plant and it looks really bad, you could probably get away with cutting it off and letting it branch out and grow new stems.
My favourite cactus❤

wow!! How did you do that? Mine grows so slow! :/ please, tell me, how do you take care of this cactus?

@@TobyJin Thank you! I think mine needs more light! That would be my first change!
Wow it’s looking fabulous! I have just bought one 🥰👍 How often do you water it?
When it gets really hot, around once a week, during winter, no water.
@@TobyJin o wow - thanks for that 👍

@@1neAdam12 thank you so much for your reply & I do hope you are recovering well after your operation 🥰🇳🇿
@@TobyJinа я летом поливаю каждую неделю, немного и грунт минеральный. А зима будет первая у меня😊
У меня за 6 месяцев вырос на 10 см кактус, в средней полосе, в России❤
У Вас тоже красивый😊
They can grow really quickly when they are happy and actively growing.
Love those pots. I like their utilitarian appearance.
Is there a brand name you could share?
On the pot, it says “Tuscan Path”.

Thank you.
This is exactly the type of video I was looking for. Just wanted to find the growth rate. How quickly does it grow from seed?

I just bought a monkey t. 1 tail 30” long , I want to propagate her in spring .

@@TobyJin yes 👍 thank you for responding
I’ll probably start propagating any day , The wheather seems nice here in Idaho
When it is actively growing, I think it would be a good time to make the chop. I chopped mine while it was actively growing and it propagated nicely.
Do you know if the spines will grow uo again once that theyre broken?

My cactus doesnt grow straight like that and they put shoots out on side of a shoot
It may be that the tip has gotten damaged by some pest, which has caused it to branch.
