- In this video I show you how to be a success as an artist, how to stop focusing on a results driven approach to your art, that may ultimately be making you sad. I will talk you through a more satisfying way of viewing your process as an artist. Perfectionism can really get in the way of enjoying your art so what would it be like to disregard the end of the process and just concentrate on the beginning and the the fun of doing?
This maybe a slightly clunky was of getting the point across but sometimes its nice to get a little crazy and do some silly thing. Life is just to short not to.

maybe that's why starting is the hardest part...?! god, what a lovely piece of art you created by burning a lovely piece of art!
Thank you so much 😀
Good video. Not ready to burn mine. Yet.
I procrastinate so much, frightened to start a piece in case its no good, but does it really matter?
Thought provoking lesson ....what a great one. 😊
Glad you liked it!
What an excellent and valuable video. The algorithm took its time recommending you to me, but much better late than never.
You got here in the end!! 🤣🤣
I've recently started thinking of my art as therapy -- literally art therapy. When I'm drawing and painting, I don't think about anything else. I've been drawing since I was a child, but I was never encouraged by a family that only valued monetary success. Now I'm retired and can do as I please, and this pleases me immensely. So glad i found your channel!
Thanks for the super message and I think we have a very similar relationship with our art. I still struggle to associate outcomes with success but that's mainly if I'm doing a commission. Self doubt creeps in. But most of the time I just see it as play and therapy.
I love the process but I procrastinate because I really want approval and I'm scared friends and family wont like what I'm doing.
Great video. Definitely made me smile and reflect.
Good to see you're getting more subscribers. 😉
I understand your feelings and you certainly are not alone. We often turn to friends and family for reassurance when we uncertain. I would say that it's also great to just have something for yourself that no-one else can ruin or critize because it's yours and yours alone. Art can mean whatever you want. 👍
Great! All through your magnificent drawing, inking etc., I thought how „sad“ the car looked! Then it was destroyed! How sad! Such a clever work of art I‘ve avoided cars & trucks but May try later, much later. Thanks for your philosophical take on art.
Thank you so much 😀 I am the destroyer of worlds!!!!
Love it!
Thanks!!
Great video. I really enjoyed your commentary.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😉
Hey, what alcohol ink do you use for urban sketching?
I don't use alcohol ink for urban sketching. The waterproof black ink I use is Platinum Carbon Black and I use may different soluble inks. Hope this helps.
@@dougjacksonart It does!! Thank you so much. BTW Love your videos ❤
Thank you for making me laugh. Are there any pretentious Yorkshiremen?
Not that I know of... well....maybe a few 😂😀
