We're Chris W. Smith and Jack De Sena (aka Chris & Jack). We've been friends for years and love making high-quality, high-concept sketch comedy. Chris was a Blue Man in Blue Man Group. Jack voiced Sokka in Avatar the Last Airbender. In 2016 we united to create this channel, confusingly titled “Chris & Jack”, which has served as a shared platform to write, produce, direct, edit, and star in our own stuff. Also, we were also ghosts the whole time you were reading this. Supernatural twist!

This is such an amazing short. I just wish it started with a yellow screen. I think that would really improve it.
We're always open to notes.
Also, maybe three blue beeps? End on green? Just my opinion. And Robert McKee's!
..... that..... is..... perfect. And here we were getting too entrenched into Syd Field's mode of thinking. But no! It IS all about that hero's journey. Thank you Dan. Thank you Robert. Thank you Joseph Campbell.
It's all about the monobeep.
Yellow would have been such a twist back when you wrote the comment. Next year... how about... fuchsia? Am I crazy? I tell you, fuchsia is gonna be the new hype!
This... this was actually terrifying. Like,it was hillarious and really well written, but I'm for sure gonna have some trama from this.
Forsure, trama indafinity.

it makes sense that a society of identical people would appreciate identical movies.
"they all look the same"
I just assumed it was that their eyesight was different from ours. Bit like how screens often look wrong when viewed from a camera because they rely in glitches in human vision, so alien races might not be able to see the movies we show.
Bro have you seen Marvel movies?
humans are a bunch of diverse people, they don't seem to appreciate diverse movies 👀
@@zorgatethat's incredibly racist
"and the plerig is"
"award yeah"
i love how that doesnt answer his question at all lmao
That ending was depressing as shit lol
Xregion those series of beeps and colors. yeah it was
“Everyone here has the sweetest butts”😢
You didn't see it coming? Honestly I thought he got off light
Oh wow, that ending *wipes tears*
I like to imagine that the ending bit is optional and you can choose a happy ending or a depressing ending.
life doesnt work that way, now cry and use it to grow
Why would you choose a happy ending though..?
@@tunderstorm2769no reason to be a dick here
@@tunderstorm2769wah
It does lean WAAAAAY towards depressing, to the point where I wouldn't say it could be "happy", but maybe it's not so bad.
the fact they made 2 incredible movies just for this film, i mean, that first one, yellow, blue blue blue, green, holy fuck man, ive never seen anything better
I used to think purple, orange orange green, grey was the best but I think it's a bit overrated now
Imagine if they used seafoam smh lol
@@Pixelusually What are you on about? Everyone knows that's just a cashgrab to pander to the masses. You should watch Magenta, two beeps, red, green and long beep. It's a cult classic with an open ended conclusion that really makes one think.
"2 years away from you will be a lifetime." is such a good fucking line on a rewatch
NOOOOOO 😭
I love the way they greet each other as that’s similar to real cultures
A handshake was to show that neither was holding a weapon a salute was to raise the faceplate of your helmet it’s logical to assume that shaking someone’s thigh to make sure they don’t have something holstered would very much be a real thing
Checking for weapons almost seems distrustful and rude like you always expect the person in front of you to attack you but it could be a way to show that you're honest and open and not carrying a weapon.
@@pumkin610it might also be to show how you are always on your guard. Sort of like how in some cultures having your eyes open while bowing is a sign to show how you’ve learned a lot and to never put your guard down while it can also be disrespectful showing how you don’t trust someone you are bowing to.
Imagine this in reverse, an alien coming down as an ambassador to earth and easily seeing how exploitable the movie industry is, thus he makes a hit movie every year that everyone loves, that wins Oscars over and over. Then he gets addicted to drugs, loses track of time, and insults everyone in the world.
holy shit
That's the point
Superman but with Oscars and he's an asshole.
This has already happened
But Johnny Depp already exists
3 beeps fixes EVERY plot hole.
I really appreciate that you guys are sticking with comedy sketches, even if it is one of the least profitable genres here on youtube. It really shows that you enjoy what you are doing. And we are all enjoying what you're doing too.
Thanks Apaul! We're enjoying that you're enjoying what we're doing!
This was supposed to be a comedy? 😭 😭 😭
The Green Screen got me very emotional. A true masterpiece.
We were worried the three beeps might take away from the end a bit. But slotting in the yellow up front brought everything together that made that green payoff in a big way. Thanks so much for noticing!
Yea I thought it would be a risky decision with the three beep addition but it turned out great! I don't know how you come up with this stuff!
The set up with the yellow screen though was a stroke of genius
The hero's journey. World building, the character's answering the call to adventure. Then a series of trials, descending into hell until facing the rock bottom challenge (three sections within this section). Then redemption and realization of true self, true purpose, true power, etc. Mel Gibson comes to mind with this - he just sees how to create a compelling story structure. Introduction, Adventure/Trials, Climax, Redemption.
Truly shows what yellow, three beeps, and green can do 🙏
The fact that this incredible film does not have millions of views by now is a perplexing mystery to me. I mean 3 beeps instead of 4? That's a viral idea if I've ever seen one!
This actually moved me. I don’t know why. It’s better than any movie made by Disney in the past two years. Its strange. I can’t describe it.
It’s called, passion
such an underrated channel, keep at it guys, love all your stuff!
wtf r u doing here?
I cannot believe that after years of being on youtube I’m just finding out your channel. This place is a goldmine, every single video of yours I’ve seen so far is well-written and executed with a great comedy and plot twists. Just like wow. It’s a cyber crime that your channel haven’t been picked up by millions of users.
This is how I feel right now.
Same
Same
Hi, this is me, three years in the future after you, feeling the same way.
Yellow
Blue
Blue
Blue
Green
Holy shit... No beeps. NO FUCKING BEEPS, YOU MADMAN!
It's a classic from the silent era of CXV-339 moviemaking
You’re a genius.
I love this comment. It deserves an oscar.
The book was better.
Envious/Ambitious Yellow - Exposition (Act 1)
Blue(s) (Act 2/2-4)
*Beep the 1st: Rising action
*Beep the 2nd: Climax
*Beep the 3rd: Falling action
Peaceful Green - Denouement (Act 3/5)
So, basically, all these movies are based on the form and shape of a Shakespeare's play. Genius!
Oh, I get it. First you establish the character of Yellow: one strong solid show of the colour, which signifies Yellow as strong and sure, along with a jarring and slightly slightly uneasy noise, which signifies Yellow's discontent with life. Then you establish the feeble and timid Blue. Blue's insecurity is shown by his wavering colour. It beeped a poetic three times; The rule of thirds. Then as the two colours unite into one finally happy Green. They completed each other: The colour stayed on firmly, but the noise was now soothing, instead of agitated. Two base colours created one beautiful new one. And so they were together as Green until the end of time. Truly a touching piece. As if Piet Mondrian himself made a film.
Anton Or it could just be a funny skit with a random color.
I think you're overthinking this.
So it's a bit of w o o s h

Lmao this is great😂
Brilliant analysis. You should move to that planet I think you’d have a great time there
I love that it’s the same formula we’ve seen so many times, parodied, and yet the formula is just so effective that it still works.
This is a tale of human experience, and humans love it.
I think this is a commentary on how audiences only want to see things that they've seen before and also how the movie industry can destroy creative people.
Jonathan Hall Or it's just a funny skit.
Cube8Tor No, it was definitely a nuanced skit to make fun of the modern Hollywood formula
@@sammy135_ Gotta agree with you, this is definitely a well thought video (not sarcasm)
@@cube8tor733 funny skits can have sociopolitical commentary

this deserves a Plirig award.
This is the weirdest thing I've seen all week.
well except for mcchicken
That was FUCKING. INCREDIBLE. Someone sign these guys on for a feature length film.
It’s crazy how their sun is so far away, yet their years are still exactly 8760 hours long. Space is magic!
It makes me so sad that the youtube algorithm seems to have forgotten you guys. I constantly look forward to your videos and am in disbelief that you have so few subs. Props on a funny video with such a great message about media stagnation. I hope you guys find a way to keep producing these, and I know you'll get more viewers over time. You've got fans sticking with you.
Thanks Josh! That really means a lot!
Im just now finding these guys and its 100% because of the algorithm, took them 7 years but its happenin
@@jonathanbrooks9768 oh it is happening, I just found out about them a few weeks ago
Every time the yellow BREREERG sounded, my cat had a visceral reaction. Excellent short.
The Lifetime achievement award looks like a boomerang. Jack De Sena returning to his roots. :p
Oh yeah, he voiced Sokka
HOLY S***, that is him!
I was only about 30% sure...
I thought the twist was going to be that this was how the aliens made more aliens, by tricking ambassadors into becoming them
Sneej Cadak and the Sneej Five really hit it out of the park with "Music in Space" at the end there. Gotta love "This is the bridge- Bridge! That was the bridge!"
I was expecting a plot twist where everyone on this planet were space travelers that lived the exact same story.
But it was still really good
My favorite part was the 3 beeps
Paul Foster Mine was the yellow screen.
You're both wrong, it's clearly the green screen
I think that the movie as a whole is what makes it good. It’s an experience
My favorite part was the credits
That moment when you realize you wasted your life on another planet.
AMAZING short film guys!
What a track record so far, not one single bad video. Great job
As long as they stick with a formula that works. I hope they don’t start doing purple, blue, yellow combinations. I’ve seen too many of those videos.
This is EXACTLY what it feels like watching network police procedurals after learning the Hero's Journey. (Which you guys put to good use in this film.)
On my bi annual viewing of Chris and Jack (The Complete Works) and this sketch gets better and better every time. I know we don't get to see you guys very often, but still look forward to every video that comes out and can't wait for July 6th Park 2022!
It's a simple moral in the end, maybe even cliché, but it bears repeating: Keep your head on straight and, seriously, don't do drugs.
You guys are going to be HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGEEE
Mungus
Lord Humungus
Aaaah got some bad news for you :I
No coincidence in the Lifetime Achievement Award being shaped like an angular boomerang! 😂
Wow, what kind of a budget to these guys have.
This was actually pretty low budget, they're just good at making low budget look really good. Great VFX, color grading, and camera work.
Generally you have a budget, whatever it is on projects like these, and then you run out. At that point when people are working for free essentially, it becomes more about the passion and effort to get it done. Much more gratifying to get the final result to the finish line in great form rather than a paycheck.
I wonder how this planet would react to an actual movie
I love how the pleric award is basically given out every week or two. I wonder if this population experiences time faster than humans. That would also explain the 3 second movie and the main character's experience of time changing as a huffpen reaction, just like how his voice changed
Yellow. Green. Four beeps. Blue
Cube8Tor you know, I kinda think three beeps would work better
Sammy Fishnu No I don't think so.
WTF THIS ONLY HAS 47,000 VIEWS IT SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 1 MIL
Still doesn't have 1 mil aw man
The people of CVX-339 perceive reality differently. To humans the movie looks like a set of colors and beeps. The people of CVX-339, on the other hand, are tuned into the *slight* frequencies in the beeps and boops. When one tunes into these frequencies (if they have the ability), they are able to experience the plethora of dialogue, story, and imagery. The same goes for the colors. The colors emit a certain light wave that is perceived differently than humans therefore--
or maybe they just don't have the same pattern recognition we have as humans
This channel deserves millions of subs.
But first, you guys should put a yellow screen at the start. Just saying.
No....sea foam...
You make such INSANELY well produced/directed/edited/performed/graded/everything, funny content. How does this channel not have ALL the subscribers!?
7:27 that little wink might be the best moment in the whole thing.
"Aaaaaahg your lives don't mean shit!!!"
This was truly fantastic. Great work
0:32 Dear God, I close my eyes and all I hear is a planet full of Sokkas. 0___0 Truly that would be Katara's worst nightmare...
this is hands down my favorite youtube channel. It is astonishing how much work is put into these videos and I cannot believe you guys dont have millions of subscribers. Ill be sharing all their vids.
For a second I thought that he wouldn't be able to show the movie because they somehow work differently outside of the planet or something along those lines. But this was HARD.
I watch a lot of RUclips. For 20 years for now. This is the best short I have ever seen.
How is it even possible that this video only has 160k views. Amazing work guys! Imagine if the RUclips recommendations would actually show us pure gold like this.
How in the hell does this have only 68,000 views? This is a masterpiece
How in the hell does this still only have 85,000 views? This is a masterpiece
How in the hell does this still only have 102,000 views? This is a masterpiece
How in the hell does this STILL have only 229,000 views? This is a masterpiece
I watched this with my family and I’m never allowed to pick videos again
I actually don't know what to say...
I was mesmerized,
Would happily watch a 2hour version of this.
What's baffling about this short film is that you somehow produced MULTIPLE full length movies just to be plot elements in it! Insane. I really liked the second movie.
Why is this video just a series of colors and beeps?
You're missing the entire subtext. Just because you don't understand art doesn't mean it isn't _art._ Sheesh.
“did you really take the time to read this message”
One of the best comedic duos out there rn!
I'd watch this as a full movie
I’m so glad I discovered this channel, this is a great inspiration as a filmmaker. I love what you guys are doing.
Best comedy on RUclips, you guys are amazing.
"But that was just a series of beeps and colours" not far off my inner monologue almost every time my girlfriend puts on a top ten movie on Netflix that was also produced by Netflix 😅
This is fantastic... I hate to compare groups but this has a very Key and Peele feel in the sense that I never have any idea where a sketch is going. Love it
the special effect is amazing 🏰
Every time I watch a new short of yours, I’m so glad I found you from Michelle Khare's videos!
This is literally some of the greatest entertainment on youtube. I love you guys, keep it coming!
Damn this is an incredible short. it should win an award or something
I really cannot comprehend why you guys don't have more subscribers and that freaking ending, man!
the face that Eepgarg had when everyone was booing at Travis was like the face that you make when you were away for one day and everybody just moved on without you
i really enjoyed this haha, but i feel like it could do with 5 beeps and egg shell white at the start, just a thought
Good note. Good note.
dude, i did not think THAT was gonna happen, i literally thought it would be them basically arguing with the normal guy the ambassador mad over the fact the movie is just yellow, then three beeps, then green, then end, and the alien doesn't get it
yellow blue blue blue green.... brings tears to my eyes every time
You guys have come a long way since Dorm Life. Loved this. Awesome work, Chris and Jack!
I dont understand. How you guys are so good and so unrecognized. Well, I love your work and appreciate you
Near the end, I expected it to jump back to the beginning when he first saw the movie; "How did you like it?"
I tend to watch this a few times a year, it's just delightful
How have I not heard about this channel, you guys are amazing! I've been binge watching all your stuff. Keep up the great work
Green first, then yellow x3 then red... and a splash of white. No beeps. Yeah.
What if it was blue, green, red, white. We have every color get along, and everything is fine until the red attacked. The white was missing for awhile. We have one of the blue make jokes, the other blue loves the white, but people want the blue to be with red. The green shows up towards the end to help. Red also joins in, together they beat the big red and the white and blue are together. Why, its so crazy it might just work.
This is amazing! I really hope you guys keep making these
I love your videos! The acting, the light, the sound, the writing, the music, the props, the editing, it's all stunning!
this is one of the most ingenious things i've seen in a long long time... wonderful work.
Why did it take 7 years for this to get recommended to me? Goddamn masterpiece!
Same, these started popping up on my shorts. And I can’t believe I’ve never seen these guys before.
It’s criminal that this doesn’t have more views
It's nice that the alien can actually take criticism of his movie with a smile, instead of asking for an honest appraisal and then getting mad at an honest appraisal
i just Love that this alien's last name is smith
"Music Editor: John Travlota" Totally worth slowing down the video to .25 speed and pausing every second to read the names
This is a GREAT short film. It's so well written, funny, drama, and some deep layers for a short film
Dear Second Unit: Yes, I really took the time to read that message.
i’m happy i saw your guys shorts, i had no idea about this gem of a channel until today. you guys are great, it doesn’t make sense y’all haven’t got at least a couple million subs by now! someone at youtube hq hates you fr😭
What have I just watched.
A masterpiece.
You guys have a really good sense of humor, especially in the way you edit your vids.
You finally put this up! I remember talking with you guys at FilmQuest. I loved your film!
The cinematography in this short was, ironically, amazing. The intro sequence felt like a movie.
7 years ago? Man I missed out on a great channel. Time to binge.
