A song that I wrote 1/15/25, copyrighted.
1-He wanted to lose some weight and to wear a nice suit
So, that everyone would say
How good that he looks when they came by
Well, all of that became true today
His picture was also in the paper along with a write up about him
That was one of his desires, as well
And the people that knew him best that had not stopped by to visit for years
Showed up to see him once again for a short spell
C-They all had nice things to say and they really made his day special
By all that they said
Everything that he had hoped for came to pass but, it was too bad
He didn’t get to hear a word of it for he was dead
2-All of their pleasantries, kind words, and shared memories
Fell on his deaf ears
They could have indulged him with their warmth and their flowers
Instead of just this day, over the past years
How much he would have liked to have known how they felt
And also listened to their affectionate words
It is a shame that what he had longed for required his death
And all that they said about him was never heard…
