I got to fly business class for work on the 747-400 Combi between LAX and Schipol several times in 2018 and 2019. What a great and comfortable airplane. I always sat on the main deck forward. This video brings back good memories.

A good flight on the Queen of the Skies. Perhaps the interior and the IFE was dated but it was well cared for, and I don't find fault with Grandma just 'cause she's old. ;-). The newer planes may be more efficient, but the 747 will always be remembered as special.

I fly on the LAX-AMS route every 2-3 years or so, and in the last 20 years (Dutch person living in California for 20 years now) I have been in the economy plus section of the Boeing 747-400 at least 3 times. The last time was in September 2019, mere months before the pandemic started and 6 months before they announced the type's immediate retirement. KLM is my favorite airline to use on that route.... I have also flown American Airlines (via London Heathrow with a connecting flight from BA) twice from LAX to AMS, but since they lost my luggage TWICE in London, we decided to only fly KLM from that day. On August 31st 2022 I am boarding KLM again, this time a 777-200 and for the very first time in Business Class! I've always flown economy, although all three flights on the 747's have been economy plus.... exciting to see what the Business Class experience is like. I'm going to miss the Queen of the Skies though, and I am glad I had the opportunity to fly her three times.

It is insane how serene the 747. Every single flight I've had has been a calm experience. I've had really good sleep and my friends even said they felt it was more comfortable than a 2 year old A330. They will for sure be missed.

It's definitely something different from the other flight reviews out there :) Now with the B747s retired and seeing how KLM has been heavily utilizing the B747 for many years, it feels weird seeing a KLM without their B747s

Damn you’re lucky, you still got to fly the 744... I had planned two flights on them for this year (Qantas and KLM) but both airlines retired their entire 744 fleet... btw I really like your animations! I’m working on my after effects skills at the moment so I’m glad to see some inspiration in your videos! :D

I wanted to fly business class as my last good bye. I fear for the A380s soon will face the same fate. I stopped using after effects when I switched to the latest Premiere Pro CC. Their essential graphics options makes it very simple to make new graphics and save templates!
@@ShawnsTravels Yea, I'm afraid you're right about the A380s... I haven't updated Premiere yet, some friends of mine told me they had some problems with the new version and would wait for another update to fix them. But I'll have a look at the new features, thanks!

When did you fly this? KAL lounge looks nice though the food could be better, which is a common thing I hear or read. The combi interior looks like a regular 747. Nice you showed the map to give an idea how it's all arranged and where you were. Great view from your seat too. And Long Beach, 👍. Queen Mary next to the white dome which used to house the Spruce Goose.

This is something that has been changing a lot recently. I would advise to check the local US embassy website to get the most up to date information. As far as I know, travel restrictions are suppose to be lifted for July, but who knows if it may change. I had to cancel 3 flights already.
I have Gold Medallion status with Delta. One of the perks is free lounge access on International flights with partner airlines. KLM is part of SkyTeam and the Korean Air Lines Lounge is also a SkyTeam partner. Aside of going to the Delta Skyclub in T2 or T3, my only other option was KAL at the Int'l terminal.
Hopefully soon when they start reopening the skies. I've been wanting to visit Canada and Turkey for a while now. Maybe I should do a stopover in Canada. What city do you recommend?
Hm. You only payed an eco ticket but you complain about the variety of food and drinks in the Business class lounge. That's like you pay for a Ford but you deserve materials inside like a Bentley.
