I agree a fire pit is a must have. My son is now 52 and my grandsons are 20 , 30, and 3! When I go down to visit, the time spent around the fire pit is so memorable, it melts my heart. To hear my son and grandsons laughing and talking and remembering their childhoods is heartwarming. I just sit and listen and smile! They sit there for hours, which they never do in the house. BTW do you have a link for the fur throws?
The blue glasses are to die for. As a kid, glasses like these starred in some of my best memory-making experiences. They do not just delightful for what they evoke. Materially, there are objects of beauty.
That was SUCH great advice! Somehow I intuitively knew that about a fire pit - how much it would be used and how it would create so many wonderful memories, but I love the outdoor games suggestion and getting the adults to play with your kids.
n the fresh air calms everyone. We made a lot of fun summer memories on our porch with me reading aloud …The Lord of the Rings especially….and kids sprawled all around eating freeze pops.
Always interesting. May I encourage a vinette(s) on 'storage'. When you were rennovating it must have been in your plans. Perhaps you store by 'seasons'? Such a lovely summer table - but where are such things as the boards, glasses, skins for the bench, etc. kept? Many, many thanks!!! 😍
Yes to the fire pit! We have one at our home our bay house on the Chesapeake and our son who has his own home now has built one is his backyard as well. I am sure my daughter will do the same when she has her own home.
Hi Ruth, came across you on homework worthy. I made the goldrush, coffee cake, I could not get it out the Bundt pan. You are to bake 45 to 55 minutes. My Cake batter was still gooey around the tub 7:41 part of the Bundt pan. I baked 30 minutes. No longer gooey but my crumble was crunchy. It still tasted really good. My Bundt pan looked like yours. What did I do wrong. Do you have a large then normal Bundt pan? Thank Ruth, love your home and your gardens.
Hi there … I would love to be able to order your book Hungry For Home …. I am from Canada …. It won’t let me choose Canada … could you please send me a link that allows me to order it … many thanks … Patricia
