I cry every time I watch one of your sweet videos. Your family, your traditions, your servant’s heart, your intentionality in everything you do and your love for the Lord-touches my heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your lives, family, recipes and traditions. I have purchased your Hungry for Home cookbook for both of my daughters for Christmas. Merry Christmas McKeaney family!
You are so fortunate to share such sweet and mindful traditions! The peace and togetherness you have is to be celebrated as many families to do not have what you have. Thanks for sharing.
It’s so fun to see a Christian couple share their traditions. We also have our traditions it has changed some because we now have 4 in-laws and soon 14 grands. The grandchildren just add to it but it’s not always exactly as before. That is ok though. Every other year we have them all on Christmas Day and the off year we pick another day close to Christmas that works too. We want them to also make their own traditions and I’m sure you will too. Blessings.
I am very happy today. I received a copy of your book. Watching this video encourages me to start my own tradition. Ian 75 might not have too many years left but sure the enjoy what is left. Thank you.
I love everything you share about your family. Not just the traditions, but that Jesus is the center. The wrapped doors... I grew up in Canada with German parents that came here after the war. In Germany, there's usually a door that locks to go into the livingroom. The tradition is to lock the door early Christmas Eve morning while parents put up the tree and put out the gifts. The house that my brother and I spent most of our childhood years also had a door that locked to go into the LR. Christmas Eve morning, the door was locked by the time we would get up. Behind that door the tree was going up and the presents situated around the tree. Christmas Eve we would have a light dinner, go to candlelight service and then home. That's when the door would then be unlocked and we would see the tree and the gifts for the first time. It was always so magical and special.
I agree with traditions, it helps families and even for families with not so ideal family setting, have good memories and love. And even if you have to move, like my childhood, you make home where ever you go. I love your conversation. P.S. I saw that you have Terrain ornaments. I thought I was the only one loving that brand. They have such wonderful ornaments, that remind me of my childhood and what I create around the home.❤
After my dad died it was just my mom, brother and I. Xmas traditions are memories of things, such as ornaments I continue to place on the tree each year, the manger my grandfather made for my mom when they adopted her in 1925. I still miss the home I grew up in because it signified the place on the planet where all was right with the world( even if it wasn't). Tradition is passing on the love my mom left in my heart, nothing necessarily tangible but definitely things that are palpable.
For me that is way too many traditions! Kind of waters them down after a bit. But a few are quite sweet. Am glad it all works for their family and that they all enjoy all of them. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Wow! Reading some of the comments here, I find them to be unkind and unfair. Ignore them Ruth! I watched your video and didn't feel their comments are warranted, at all! You're excited! In fact, I found you to be quite emotional reminiscing about your traditions, which are absolutely beautiful! Shake it off! It's Christmas! :)
I LOVE this! Our sons are both engaged this year and we are so blessed that their fiances already have participated in our family traditions. One of our favorite traditions is that we all go to the Boston Holiday Pops each Christmas season together and sing along. It's a favorite way to start off the holidays. We also love making gingerbread houses together - you're never too old for that!
Y’all are beautiful together! For those that think talking over one another that’s what happens when you’ve been married a long time! It’s a blessing! Their hearts are intertwined, Ruth I’ve been married 42 years with 4 girls and a son 5 years after the last girl. We have 11 grandchildren 15 and younger and Christmas is incredibly blessed although our times are busy I talk to all my grand babies about the reason they are receiving gifts and who loves them more then anything… and that is Our Lord Jesus and then all the grandkids open gifts at once. Us grown ups open gifts after kids are settled My adult kids spend Xmas eve with their in laws then Xmas day with us Thank you for sharing your traditions and God Bless your family
Oh I am SO EXCITED you have a video up today!! Just sat down to take a recovery break from caring for my mother when I saw this!! I simply love you, your sweet family and every single video you do. You are transparent, casual and real. I appreciate that. Sending love from NW Arkansas ❤❤❤❤❤
You guys are just amazing!!! I love how you celebrate the Holidays. Gosh, you really have beautiful traditions that bring the whole family together! Very inspirational to me. Thank you!
I love your channel. I live in Blue Bell, pa and I bought your book over a year ago. Every recipe is delicious and the photography is exquisite. Your book is left open on a stand and is a focal point in my kitchen. Thankyou so much for
Thank you Ruth & Bob really enjoyed hearing your Christmas traditions, gr8t ideas esp the holiday Picture made into a puzzle! You’ve inspired me to start some this year, always a joy to watch your content, thank you, watching from UK, Gods Christmas blessings to you, 👏👏🌟🌷🌸🙏✝️📖📖🙌👑🔥🎄🎄🎄🥳
I love that you have shared your family traditions. Thank you 😊. My family shares one of your traditions. We love the movie “White Christmas”. We watch it every Christmas. Wishing you and your family a very blessed Christmas 🎄
Love all your unique giving traditions! According to wiki: The pickle tradition is commonly believed by Americans to come from Germany and be referred to as a Weihnachtsgurke (German for "Christmas pickle").
I mean this in the kindest way but what planet are you people from??? I don't know any families that are as creative, intentional, playful, loving or know how to cultivate closeness and bonding like you do. I'm amazed every time I hear how your family interacts and even in the extended family with the Advent tree idea to your giving of the cinnamon rolls. Blessings to you all! ❤
You have lots of nice family traditions. I always love hearing peoples traditions. My family and I have continued , the youngest opens one presents and it goes around to the oldest and starting over. It's nice to see what each person gets. Merry Christmas!
Love all of these sweet traditions! Thanks so much for sharing! Can you please share your sweet roll recipe ♥️ I would love to make this ahead of time to bake on Christmas Thank you!
I always enjoy hearing family traditions around Christmas. I loved the Jesse tree idea most of all. I just want to say whether they are big or small celebrating Jesus is the main reason. I must say I felt a bit sad for the way you tore down your husband family’s lack of traditions and chaotic gift unwrapping. He seemed to enjoy those memories. I don’t think comparing one family’s way of celebrating to another’s is fair or kind. Your family celebrates over the top compared to most I’d say and that’s OK, but I’d say most people do a much simpler Christmas celebration and that’s OK too.
Sonja, The video is about TRADITIONS. That’s literally in the title. There are many others on her channel featuring her home. The traditions, love, care, and shared memories are what make are what makes a house into a home. There are lots of other decor channels if that is what you are more interested in.

I agree. I love your channel, but Ruth has a terrible habit of interrupting everyone. It can be annoying.
I don't think it's intentional. She just gets excited and gets ahead of herself. My daughter does the same thing.
@karenthesheepgirl1909 that could be, comes off as rather controlling. Love the channel.
Hello I just ordered 5 of your cookbooks for the girls in my family, found them on Amazon…would have loved ❤ them to have been autographed… 😊
Thank you so much!!
i have the same little tree ….. got it at Pottery barn in 2009 at the outlet in Lancaster
