Jim. My respects for you. You have a great way to describe , show and narrate every move that i feel I am sitting next to you, watching while you work. I had an accident that broke my clavicle and i wasnt able to work for almost 5 years. I coudlnt find any work, so i said to myself...the hell to all those companys that I applied. I started my own small company doing appliances , a/c and refrigeration....and im picking up slowly but keeping busy. Thanks againg im learning again from and refreshing a lot , thanks on your expertise. Thanks again....and keep going Jim

Good to mention Reciprocating Compressors only for pump downs, Scroll will get damaged if you pump down

I dont use any thread tape but i do like leak lock. Nylog is ok also but i like how leak lock dries and hardens whereas nylog is just like thick oil. Leak lock rules. Nice video jim

I use nylog on the vaccum pump fittings and if I have to change a valve plate the nylog company recomends using it on gaskets as a lubricant. But I like the teflon tape/leaklock combination, refrigerant is expensive.

I have seen people use nylog as a thread sealant on tapered pipe threads like when installing a bigger fitting on their vacuum pump. I cant see how it works for that for long seems like nylog would just run out of the threads eventually since its like an oil. I used nylog on a rotolock on hot gas line and next time i was out there there was a puddle of nylog below the fitting on the base of the unit. It didnt leak cause it had the nylon ring but i just dont see how an oil based sealant would. Run out eventually. I agree refrigerant isnt cheap and we gotta minimize call backs for sure. What your take on the nylog on threads jim?

I like your suggestion about the catepillar of silicone.

Oil should not turn acidic unless the system has moisture, and abnormal heat. There are sealed systems that have been running for decades, with no problems. I use leak lock to, but it has no purpose on the threads. I just put a very light coat on the face of the flair fitting. Curious why you call filter dryers dryer filters? You are a hard worker with old school values.

Very Good video, Jim is necessary to apply solder paste on copper to copper joints as you do or sometimes I see people not use paste or prep it like cleaning, also in such cold weathers what if yours torch is not heating enough the copper pipe what is your next step do you use bigger torch or some other techniques. Can you shed some light on soldering I like your way of explaining the problems and solutions and your videos are very educational with real problems.

The cold isn't a problem, the wind is a problem, I'll use wind blocks and a bigger tourch tip. I like to use flux everytime, I don't want a refrigerant leak and have to come back fix a leak and recharge a system, it looks bad to the customer and it cost me. The little extra doesn't cost much and it saves a lot.

Hey Jim. Have you ever tried putting some oil/nylog on your flaring yoke (piece that comes in contact with copper pressing it downward.) I've noticed it prevents the copper from cracking if it's lubricated.. also putting a dab of oil behind your flare lips and faces will help not to crack the copper.

+ZuffaLtdDanaWhite yea I have, normal oil has wax in it, that wax will freeze hard and plug up in the expansion valve, use poe oil, thanks
