    Hello! This is a beautiful pattern. Forgive me if my math is wrong - but wont this create an increase? If we are knitting k3tog and doing a yarn over, and then casting on 3 more stitches after dropping the yarn over stitch, that will increase one stitch. If i want to keep my stitch count, shouldn't I only cast on two stitches?

      You can try one of these pattern for practice. You keep making ladder by repeating row 2 and 3. You won't see the ladder until you close it off and unravel them.
      Cast on multiple of 6 sts plus 6 (for edging).
      knit 3- 4 rows for garter st border.
      Begin pattern as follow;
      row 1: k3, *yo, k3tog, k3tog; rep from * to last 3 st, yo, k3.
      Row 2: Purl.
      Row 3: Knit.
      Repeat row 2 and 3 until desired length Ending with a wrong side row.
      Next row (right side): close off row, K3, *cast on 3 sts, drop the next st off needle, k2; rep to last 3 sts, cast on 3 sts, drop the next st, k3.
      Knit 2-3 more rows and then bind off. Unravel the dropped sts to form a ladder.
      Pattern 2.
      Cast on multiple of 4 sts, plus 6.
      Knit 3-4 rows.
      Pattern row 1: K3, *yo, k2tog, k2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, yo, k3.
      Row2: Purl.
      Ro3: Knit.
      Repeat row 2 and 3 until desired length ending with row 2.
      Close off row: K3, *cast on 2 st, drop the next st of the left needle, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, cast on 2 sts, drop the next st, k3.
      Knit a few more rows for border then bind off. Unravel the dropped sts to form a ladder.

      @@Knitting4beginner thank you! I'm doing pattern 2 and how do you 'close off the row' ?? I understand that you
      1. Knit 3,
      2. *cast on 2 st, drop the next st of the left needle,
      3.knit 2
      4. rep from * to last 3 sts,
      can you explain the repeat from *?

      @@Knitting4beginner what does rep from * to last 3 sts mean????

    • @Knitting4beginner
      @Knitting4beginner  6 лет назад

      It means to repeat instruction that written after * For example,
      "*cast on 2 sts, drop the next st of the left needle, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts"
      means after you've done cast on 2 sts, drop the next st of the left needle, k2, you then will repeat come after * again which is "cast on 2 st, drop the next st of the left needle, k2". You keep repeating it until you have only 3 sts left on the left needle, then follow the rest of instruction.

    Hi ! Is it possible to make the ladder wider ? I'm trying to make a sweater with big holes/ladder :)

      You could try wrapping the yarn twice. Usually the size of the hole get bigger with bigger yarn and needle.

    I'm not sure why the picture in this video is so poor. It is very clear in my original video before I upload. This is the second time I uploaded this video. The first time I did, it went black. You could only hear the sound.

      Hi Cass,
      Just saw you comment on the video. I didn't have a whole pattern for that ladder stitch. I just worked with what the questioner sent me.
      I wrote out 2 similar patterns for you. One is like the one in the video and another is very close to it.
      Pattern one.
      Cast on multiple of 6 sts plus 6 (for edging).
      knit 3- 4 rows for garter st border.
      Begin pattern as follow;
      row 1: k3, *yo, k3tog, k3tog; rep from * to last 3 st, yo, k3.
      Close up row: K3, *cast on 2 st, drop the next st of the left needle, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, cast on 2 sts, drop the next st, k3.
      Knit a few more rows for border then bind off. Unravel the dropped sts to form a ladder.
      You can try both of them and see which on you like best.
      Best regard,
      Ratcha
