Correction: Bleu Electrique also has cardamom! Hence the minimal difference!

Really interesting to see this breakdown. I wonder whether more weight should be given to scent. If the scent isn't good, the performance being beast mode isn't worthwhile. I guess what I mean is if you took 2 scents, and scored A as 3 for scent and 1 for performance and B as 1 for scent and 3 for performance, they both end up with the same score out of 6 (4) but one of them is obviously better than the other.
To give a concrete example, we all know that Dolce and Gabbana The One has great smell and lousy performance, so it would be 4 out of 6 on the first two categories. But as a date night fragrance it can get away with a 1 on performance in a way that a clubbing scent wouldn't be able to...
I imagine that if you end up scoring a fragrance 7 out of 10 but it is excellent for it's category (date night, summer clubbing etc) you'd still recommend it for that function, perhaps above one that scored higher but doesn't hit the mark as strongly for the function.

That is actually a very smart criteria you are using. Thinking about my fragrances i would easily give 10/10 to mercedes benz club black, stronger with you intensely, aqua di gio profumo, y edp, light blue forever. Nice video, keep up the good work!
I wore Club Black the other day and couldn’t believe how good it smelled and how long it lasted.

A possible way to way to buy/rate a fragrance should include:
1. SCENT. Do you like the smell really and do you imagine the most of the people around you will enjoy smelling it. I think focusing only on the compliments or self-enjoyment is a no go.
2. PROJECTION. It's amazing for example to get a whiff of lets say Joop Homme. You may or may not like the smell of it but you can't mistake it or pretend you can't smell it.
3. LONGEVITY. It isn't worth it if you can't smell it at least 4-6 hours later on
yourself, let alone people being able to catch it in the air.
To me, none of these can be dismissed if I want a 9 or 10 out of 10 fragrance to own. Good luck to find your Holy Grail(s) people:)

Curaçao Bay is amazing!! It’s pronounced Cure A Sow. They must have sent out some bottles to lots of fragrance reviewers because this is starting to pop up a lot. It’s AMAZING! Smells like sun tan lotion but in a great way. There is no coconut in it, but it smells like it is in there. Wonderful wonderful fragrances. Got very lucky to get a huge bottle on fragrancenet for 50% off. Keep your eyes open. Would suggest try it first. If you love it, you will really love it.

If the opening is not repulsive, 1 point. If the dry down rocks my socks off, 2nd point. If it lasts a long time, third point. If the price seems fair, 4th point. I don't really bother with wearability. I make sure to read up on that on fragrantica after the fact, so I don't do something overly ridiculous. My latest obsession is Kenzo Homme intense EDT. I'm not sure I can properly explain why. I'm in love with the scent and it lasts forever.

I think the proportions should be different: a bad scent with a long performance can get the same mark as a perfect scent you need to reapply during the day. I would at any time prefer the latter - the scent, the smell itself is of course the most important thing, so it should have more value in the overall judgement.

Final score out of 100 will be much better than out of 10. It will give you a chance to differentiate between many frags. The way you mentioned in the video will end up having hundreds of frags with a score of 7 or 8 for example, while 100 will be more efficient in my opinion.

Lucky guy, not tried the pre 2014 formulation of La Nuit but I definitely prefer Bleu Electrique over the current formulation of the original!

13:08 - I have a process for rating the scent. I try not to let projection or longevity influence my scent rating. I'm sure my system is imperfect, but it's what I've been going with. My system is 1 to 10 and I don't do 0 ratings or negative ratings to emphasize how much I hate something, and I don't do 11 or 12 ratings to emphasize how much I like something. When you start doing that kind of thing, I think your rating system is broken and useless.
1 - As low as it gets. If I rate something as a 1, it means I can't even comprehend how any human being could tolerate the scent.
2 - I definitely do not like the scent, but I can at least understand that someone else might.
3 - Virtually no scent. You might as well spray bottled water on yourself for all the good this one is doing, but it's still better than smelling like a 1 or 2.
4 - Neutral. I neither like it nor dislike it.
5 and 6 - Good (with 6 being even more good than 5)
7 and 8 - Amazing (with 8 being even more amazing than 7)
9 and 10 - God Tier (with 10 being perfection)

Sure. Keeping in mind that what I like may not be what you like, and what you like may not be what I like. And keeping in mind that I only have knowledge of fragrances that I've tried ... so I can't possibly know about all the various niche brands that I've never even heard of, and I haven't tried every easy to come by designer fragrance. And finally keeping in mind that what I hold in high esteem today will likely change down the road. Also, I tend to like sweet scents.
I recently got Jean Paul Gaultier On Board and I really like it. I think it's a 9.
I think the original Invictus is a 9. I know some reviewers seem to really hate it, but I think it smells incredible.
I currently have 1 Million Prive as a 9 in my spreadsheet, but it could go up to 10.
I think the original Spicebomb is a 10.
I think Spicebomb Extreme is a 10, though I think I like the original slightly better. I'm still trying to decide on that.
I think Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male is a 10.
I think Azzaro Wanted by Night is a 10. (As an aside, I tried The Most Wanted at the store recently and loved it, but I don't own it yet. I'm sure I will rate it very highly when I do get it.)
