Hi Kim! I agree with everything you mentioned 😊 the prices of some shops, the delivery fees & those huge DP with so many colors. My last order from DAC was back in February & I will order one last one with my points. After more than 2 years, I have slowed down with diamond painting & turned to new and old interests. And since prices have shot up, I do only one DAC painting a month to respect my budget. DAC's offer has dramatically changed in the last year & I am not attracted to most of the images. I do think I am not the only one because I received an email from DAC to vote on images!!! I am not on any Facebook groups, so I think that they are trying to get feedback from a broader customer base. Love your DP choices & great video Kim. Have a great day!!!!😊
Hey Lovely Lady. I agree with what you're saying. I'm also finding very few images that really appeal to me, whereas in the past, there used to be so many that I loved. Just about every weekend I was ordering two canvasses. Now, that just doesn't happen. Firstly, the sizes are too large and secondly, I must have very different tastes to other people because the images themselves aren't my cup of tea. Oh well, perhaps the tables will turn back in my favor at some stage. Hugs. 😘
Love most of the canvases that you bought
Good job on not buying so much but. Also still buying what makes you happy.
Hey Denise. Thanks so much. Yeah, I'm not into these massive sizes that DAC are releasing and so it's helping me to not buy as often. I haven't placed an order now in many weeks.
Hi Kim, as always - love your choices. Regarding the sizes - you know me: the bigger the better, so for me it's no problem at all that DAC is releasing those 'mothers' as you call them. Even though I'm also a creator - I don't feel pressure to finish DP's anymore. I just work on the pieces I want to work on now. At the moment I've got 5 Wip's - that's never happened before and I like it. I will show them whenever I'm finished and/or ready to show them. Not to everybody's liking I've noticed, but hey ...my channel my rules LOL. Hugs for you
Hi friend. Absolutely! Like you say, it's your channel and you get to do it your way. And by the way, your channel has such "different" content, and you are doing unique things and so I think most people (including myself) love it! And yes, I know you and your love for those large sizes! Ha Ha. I don't really feel too much pressure to finish canvasses, but I've realised that I like to finish canvasses. I tend to get bored with a canvass when it's just going on and on and on. 🙂. So for me, I wish DAC would just give us some good ones in the slightly smaller sizes, while still making some "mothers" available for those who love them. Hugs to you too friend.
Great Stash, I agree I like the medium size canvases over the large ones. Shipping charges have gotten ridiculous! I try to get free shipping for just about everything I buy 😆
Totally agree! Shipping is just such a waste of money. And that's why I always have to buy two or more canvasses at a time. I refuse to pay for domestic shipping, and then international shipping as well!
Hi I agree the extra large sizes scare me as well. I get bored when a canvas takes me too long and I am not a fast diamond painter. I know they do it to get in the detail but I wish there were more options. I also would like to see more rounds. Thanks for sharing your stash with us.
I totally agree with this. I also get very bored while working on these extra large sizes. I think for most diamond painters, we like to move through a diamond painting and get a finish. These really large ones just go on and on, and I too get bored. And yes, I've also noticed the clear lack of rounds. They've definitely changed their business model over the last 6 months or so, and now the focus is on extra large sizes and squares only. I haven't ordered from DAC in many many weeks because of the sizes. I think I'll be ordering more from EM going forward.
After an extensive search and I also found very few post reviews. Over time I just hadn't realized how scarce they were becoming. I really appreciate the ones you do. Even if I'm not planning to buy a kit you cover, I always learn so much! Thank you!!!💜🤗💜
Ah, thanks Syl. In general, I definitely think that people are ordering much more than they're ever able to complete, hence why we see so many unboxings and much fewer post reviews. I think for lots of people it's also difficult to find the time to diamond paint regularly. Anyway, I'll continue doing what I'm doing. 😁
Afternoon hun
I agree, the newer canvases all seem huge, I would prefer smaller ones. I also agree there are way too many unboxing videos
Yip, the releases for the last few months over at DAC are just huge, like you say. And I'm staying away from those. I get too bored working on them. I think it's one of the reasons why I haven't been buying all that much from DAC this year.
I'm with you. I like 40x50 0r 50x50. Great video
Thanks Jack. I'm very comfortable with the 50x70 (plus minus) sizes, but that seems to be a thing of the past. Everything now is massive and it's really putting me off. 😭
I like to watch the unboxing videos. But I find the sizes of them a little daunting. We'll maybe a lot daunting lol. Im very budget friendly. The prices are hella scary. Hope you have an amazing day and can't wait to see some finishes. 😊
The sizes are definitely becoming daunting. I'm working on two very lage ones at the moment and wow, they just feel like they're taking me forever! I definitely prefer the medium sizes.
I'm very picky with the images I buy and as a consequence I keep a very small stash. Subject matter is the most important thing for me when deciding to buy a kit or not, but I also prefer to stay around the 50x70ish range (give or take ~10cm). I have to really be 100% in love with an image to add it to my stash. The larger the size, the more I have to be totally in love with the image. If there's anything I have a reservation about (rendering, colors, subject matter, etc) I won't buy it. Being so picky does make it very exciting when I do buy a new kit, because I know that I've really thought the purchase through and that I'll enjoy every minute of working on the kit.
Well, I'm definitely going to take a leaf out of your book. I've also become much pickier about the images that I buy. I now won't buy a canvass just because I love it. I have to absolutely adore it in order to buy it. Like you say, it means that when a new canvass arrives, I get super excited because I know it's something that I adore. That said, I'm also making a major effort not to buy any more of these super massive canvasses, no matter how much I love them. I just get too bored working on them for so long. ❤️
I always agree with everything you say! I remember when I first started buying, I thought the 55 x 70 were huge. But now, they are massive! It’s so weird. I also have way too many, so totally get it!
That size of a 55x70 is just my favourite size. And the thing is, that size is a large canvass! We're just getting so used to seeing these massive sizes that now a 55x70 seems small. 🤣
Hi,
For me it's been overboard on FOMO and I've ended up with a huge stash that will take me several years to finish. My hubby brought my spending totals to light because you don't notice in those one of payments spread over one year and I got abit of a reality check that I would want to spend the money on travel instead and so we have now gone into a no buy till the end of the year / till I've completed the kits in my stash. FOMO for me is dangerous.
I totally get that. And you're right. We actually completely lose track of how much we're spending when we just keep buying every week. I would hate to know what I've spent on diamond paintings over the years. But, I had a complete mind shift at the begging of this year, and my ordering is way down on what it used to be, and I'm happy with it this way. ♥️
Great choices! I don't have a stash, I just buy as and when - especially as I crochet now - so I buy what I'm drawn to, rather than by the size ✨️😊
That sounds like a good plan. For me, I find I start getting ants in my pants when working on a large painting. I get bored, and I need the joy of a finish. So, lately, I've definitely been taking note of the sizes. If it's too large, I don't buy it.
i just love your content and so beautiful kits thanks for the inspire and the video.huggs
Thanks so much for watching, and for your kind words. ♥️
You have nailed everything! I 💯 % agree all I see is unboxing and very little finishes. I get it some have 7 whips going but I look forward to finishes and reviews more than anything 😁 I can tell you I will never cut your channel out but I may be letting others go. It’s okay if you’re wanting to see what’s in a kit and drill colors but really we know that and see it better in person. Anyways I really appreciate you and love your videos. ❤
Ah, thanks so much for your kind words. And I totally agree with you. I also don't gravitate towards unboxings. I'm an experienced diamond painter, and I don't need to see everything that comes inside a box. I know that already. Sometimes I just want to see the canvass, and the rendering, and the confetti, and so I'll fast forward to that part of the video, look at the canvass for 20 seconds and then close the video. I much prefer to see completed diamond paintings, because that's where the real info is, and that's how you'll see whether the end result is great, and hence if you want to buy the kit. ♥️
I absolutely love the large sizes. It takes me between a month to a month and a half to finish. I also love the smaller ones as well. I buy my canvases based on the image not on the size or drill shape. I too have slowed down on buying only because I want to get more done and not have a stash over 100. My current stash is 68 incomplete kits, but I've bought 76. I started last year at the end of May.
Thanks for sharing. I don't mind round or square drills@but I do mind the extra large sizes. I just get bored too easily. 🤣
Hi Kim!
Thanks for sharing your haul! I have a ton of landscapes but have found I gravitate to "people" lately. I have put Crossover on my wishlist. 😊
I'm definitely not a landscape girl! Ha ha. I tend to work primarily on portrait style images, and every now and then, on something a little bit different like an animal. :-)
It’s smart to only buy what you love. I just ordered my first DAC because something from my wish list finally came instock. Ali expess stores are another story because they are where I get the customs, my three year old wants for her room, done. I have too many hobbies to spend all of my money on diamond painting.
You and me both! I have 3 main hobbies that I spend my money on (being, diamond painting, scented candles and reading), and so it's not the end of the world for me to save money on my diamond painting hobby, because then I get to allocate some additional funds to my other hobbies. 🙂
I have been so good about my buying since I stated my "low buy". I bought one in April and none so far in May. I definitely agree about the size. I like max 60 x 80, prefer 50 x 70 or so. I will buy larger if I'm absolutely in love with an image. I suppose the images that do well in voting dictate the size, but yes more variety in sizes would be nice.
I vote for so many images in every voting round, but I hardly ever see the ones I voted for. 😭. I think it would be nice to see a wider range of images, even to cater for people whose tastes are different to the mainstream. The problem with voting is that we end up seeing the same artists and the same type of images. For people who like art that is a little bit different, the voting mechanism doesn't work for them. Anyway, well done on being so good with your low buy! I'm also feeling good about mine. ❤️
Hi Kim. In a lot of ways we are very similar. We both work full time in high demand jobs, so Diamond painting time is hard to come by and very precious. We also share a deep and personal annoyance with ABs. They’re a pain in the butt to place. Where we differ though is the kits. I love me a giant kit, the more confetti the better 😊. My sweet spot is 60 by 80cm. The tradeoff though is that I finish about 3 kits a year 😂😂😂. I don’t mind. My husband likes to laugh and call this a very cost-effective hobby for me considering the time-to-completion to cost ratio 😂😂😂
😂. Definitely a cheap hobby for you! 😂 And I'm very happy to hear that there is someone else that detests AB's. I hate working with them and I actually don't think they enhance a canvass. Hugs.
I love this comment. I am a year in to DP and realized lately I hate ABs, particularly when squares. It is so hard to get them picked up and makes me replace my wax so often. I was feeling like I must be the only one that feels that way about ABs. 😂
@@jennifergreen-rj8jh You are definitely not the only one. I comment on my dislike for AB's in just about every video. In fact, whenever I order customs, I always ask that I be given normal drills only and no AB's. 😁
Good attitude towards buying new ones imo! I do the same lately 😊 Great video! Love these ones from you
Thanks so much. I love filming these videos, although because of my low buy, I can't see myself having many to film this year. All the more reason for me to really enjoy the ones I do film.
Thanks Kim. Another great video. I agree with you on the sizing of the diamond paintings from DAC. I too enjoy working on large paintings, but extra large are out for me as well (80x95+). I only have a few in my stash. I don't buy them if they are extra large anymore. I have, however, purchased 4 this month which is a lot for me! I can go months and months without buying anything (I too have to love the image) and two came came up that I had to have (one new and one restock) so I took the plunge. I hate paying shipping on top of the canvas as I feel like each box has been priced with the shipping built in so if I buy 2 I hit the threshold and don't pay shipping twice (does that make sense). Anyway, I very much doubt that I will be buy anything for a long while. Hugs
Hey Nance. I'm doing exactly the same thing, namely staying away from buying any of those extra large kits. They just take too long and I get bored. 🤣
I love seeing completions ❤️🐸I am a no buy zone this year. But have gotten some canvases that have been requested by family. And I have become very picky about the image and quality. Always love your videos
Thanks so much for your comment. And I'm right there with you, I'm also getting very picky about which canvasses I buy. Hugs.
Love your channel thanks for sharing I also think the large sizes are to big for me 🔆💜
Thanks for sharing that. Yeah, the large sizes just don't do it for me. They take too long and I start to get bored. 🤣
Hi Kim with me if I love the picture I don't look at the size until it comes and then I think to myself that is large but I do go in my stash and do a smaller one thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks Trace. I'm at a stage now where the first thing I look at is the size. 😂
I know exactly what you mean all these sneak peak but there is no follow through at least you show your work it's great.
Your honesty is refreshing and I recently bought Nahimana as a result of your review.
Keep the good work up.
Hey Linda. Thanks so much for that lovely comment. And I'm happy to hear that you enjoy seeing the post reviews that I do. Hugs
Kim,can you tell me the actual company you use for your customs. Tfs😊
Hi Jack. I use Ever Moment on AliExpress for all my customs. They're not cheap, but their quality is unsurpassed! ❤️
Munimade did have a BF sale last year!
Oh, good to know. I may pick up a couple of kits then and if they do a sale this year.
Do you have any Randal Spangler diamond paintings from DAC? I just love the cute little dragons but had to stop collecting them because they stopped shipping here 😢
@@diamondpaintingwithgummy8607 No, I'm sorry, I don't. I know that the dragons were super popular but they weren't my thing and so I've never bought any of those diamond paintings. Yeah, it's very sad that DAC continues to not ship here when there really shouldn't be any issue with shipping to SA. Other diamond painting companies manage and so I don't know what the problem is.
What about Diamond Art Club Deutschland (spelling?) Have you checked on them?
No, I've never ordered from them. If memory serves me correctly, they use double sided adhesive and I refuse to work with that glue. Also I've never been drawn to their images, nor the 200 colours that they offer, and so I've never felt the urge to order from them.
I’m put off by the large sizes of canvases and the smaller canvases that they are doing are a bit childish. I grew up with Sesame Street but I don’t need them as a diamond painting. 🩷💜🧡 thank you for sharing and I’ll see you again in your next video.
Yes, and yes! I totally agree with this. I'm really put off by these extra large sizes that 80% of their new releases are being released in. And I've always felt the same about the small canvasses. I'm not into that childish artwork either. Hence why I haven't ordered from DAC in many weeks now. 😩
