The history of this tune goes back to when we sent 6,000 Scottish troops over to help Joanne d'Arc to retake Orleans in 1429, IIRC. On entering the city our troops played this, the tune being "Hey Tuttie Taittie", which, according to tradition was previously played by the troops of Robert the Bruce as they marched to a very famous victory over the Sassenaschs/ Anglais @ Bannock Burn in 1314.

C'est grandiose...rien à voir avec les grossiers joueurs de pipeau allemands qui massacrent cette marche comme le reste !
