If anyone was wondering what the song title is, it's McCoy Mrubata - Face the music
4:06 i always enjoy the music more when the musician is clearly enjoying himself. The enthusiasm is contagious! :)
I notice mbaqana jazz idiom has more varied use of chords compared to marabi jazz centred on a repeatetive chord cycle. I love that you give some insight into the stylistic components. Thank you for these videos
Let's not forget the RHYTHM that is in the music of BABY DODDS. Thank you for posting this valuable lesson in African Music. The sound of this music is a healing sound.
The casual way the drummer flips his sticks gets me. Doesn't miss a beat and looks damn stylish!
Mbaqanga is refreshing oldies minds.
if you dont mind me asking , how does one define mbaqanga jazz ? I've seen some liken it more to jazz and others to maskandi. Struggling to define it on its own. is it just a type of jazz born in a different region of South Africa?
all theses videos are so interesting , thanks, from france :)
We love you
