    For showcasing this was well done and 60 min for the entire part (does that include setup?) Doesnt sound unreasonable. For a multiple piece order doing all the round stuff on the lathe would save a lot of time though.
    All in all its an impressive machine for what it is. Always enjoy somebody else's approach in programming

      @DATRONAG  6 лет назад +1

      Hello Mr. Peters. Sure, for mass production you would optimize a few steps. Anyhow this project was a combination of showcase and prototyping. 60 mins was only the machining time, 40 for first and 20 for 2nd and 3rd setup. Have a nice day, your DATRON team

    The machining was great! But why not use a lathe with a Y axis to make the part complete? I’m sure it would cut runtime in half and make a more concentric part, which for a race car rim seems to be the most important part. Not bashing, maybe you have an excellent reason for running it on a mill, I was just curious:)

    • @DATRONAG
      @DATRONAG  6 лет назад +2

      Hello, thank you for your interested inquiry. The question is quite simple to answer: We do not build lathes and therefore have no lathes with Y-axis :-) That's why the rim star is manufactured on our milling machine. Best regards, your DATRON team.

    Really looking good and smooth
    To slow friend
    Try to use 12 or 16 end mill with 4 flutes for aluminium and making the rough in just 2 steps around and making the hss from inside to out then no need to lot of steps of prapering the surface take end mill with radius 0.5 for that you will save about 20 minutes
    Your programming looks really nice the autodesk looks nice nc program
    And why not drilling and reaming
    For a mass production the end mill can make problems not like carbide reamer straight flutes

    I would love it one day if you would explain the use of ethanol as coolant, only aluminum etc? special venting needed? it does evaporate but it still is a ethanol just in vapor form and seems that the only filters in room might be the lungs?

    • @kinsellakp
      @kinsellakp 7 лет назад

      Shotgun Reloader you get a great surface finish on aluminum with it. If you don't have your head in the enclosure it's probably fine. I mean unless your just intentionally huffing it. Toxicity according to the internets is 600mg/kg he probably weights 60 or 70 kilos, I would think it would take a whole lot of exposure to have any effect at all.

    • @TheSmartStar
      @TheSmartStar 7 лет назад +1

      I've run one of these, you can only really smell it if you're face is right up against the enclosure. Otherwise it's fine. Wait a minute or 2 before opening up for the ethanol to evaporate and you won't even be able to smell it once the door is open. Plus it keeps the chips and part dry so it's just an airgun blast to clean the table down.

    • @shotgunreloader4964
      @shotgunreloader4964 7 лет назад +3

      I do appreciate the reply, I tried it last night and the stuff is fantastic on aluminum. I came to conclusion that the alcohol vapor is not carcinogenic and in the small vol used not an issue for me. The dry parts are a welcome development. Regards.
