Guys, you have no idea how much I appreciate these videos. I have a 78 that I'm about to start on and plan to be sourcing a lot of items from you. Please keep these coming
Great informative video. Thanks for taking the time to make and share it. I would have loved to watch this before I did my last quarter panel replacement about 6 years ago. I see now that I made some of the mistakes that were talked about.
Love these tech tip videos. Can you make a video on fine points of making the body trolly for a scout 80/800 and scout 2 and anything you do to reinforce the body into keep it from tweeking during rust repair. I think it would be a great video idea. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Back in the day (1975 and on) I was working in an International dealership body shop. My job for 3 or 4 years was to replace all the Scout ll quarters free to the customers in a campaign from I.H. Back then the only welders we had were oxy/ acetylene outfits. That was quite a challenge.
Thanks so much for this video Tyler/Anything Scout! It’s a bit more intimidating than the great Deaver spring video given all of the alignment issue that come into play with body panels, but it also was super helpful. If you don’t have a video on doing an inside quarter panel, please consider this a vote for moving that up your video production list. My inside quarter panels are in much worse shape than my outside quarter panels. I did notice that Tyler had simply patched the inside quarter panels. Maybe that’s the recommended approach. What should I consider when thinking about whether to repair or replace the inside panel?
I dont know if you wil read this being so long after the video first played, but here it is. What do you guys think about the fiberglass tubs that can be bought for these scouts. Are they any good?
I really appreciate these tech tip videos. I am interested in one on body mounts for the scout 80 / 800. I will be replacing them on my 70 800b. I am also contemplating a small body lift to allow for larger tires. Any thoughts there would be really helpful.
I love that you prime and seal the inner panels Serious question now. Because it’s something I was curious about on my first scout build but still never did. I thought about filling the entire panel with some sort of expanding foam insulation and seal all the seams so no water or dirt and dust can penetrate. Rather then add drains because it’s the mud and dust that hold the moisture that cause the rust. What do you think? Just curious. Dear God, you have no idea what it means to realize that I’m not the only one in the world obsessed with these things. Finding your channel was like finding the ghost of Elvis. “Wells wells ahuh!”
Please no! It may not seem like it but expandable foam holds dirt and moisture better than anything. Every truck we've seen with spray foam has no metal eft around it. The two schools of thought are; stop dirt and water from getting in or let it get out easier. We generally lean towards the second. In our experience it always finds a way in, so coating surfaces and allowing things to fall, drain, or be washed out is our preference.
Sean mentioned in a video that you can't take the rear quarter off and repair it like you can the door or the front quarter. Issue is, there's nothing wrong with my outside rear quarters, but not so with the inside quarters and all of the pieces that meet at the B pillar. I need to get in there and patch from the outside of the box, in. Appreciate any feedback.

That’s a lot of empty space do you think we can affix a rear facing gun turret on each side? Lol asking for a friend. 😁
Nice Job
Thank you very much

You don't have an actual spot welder!? You can build them out of derelict microwaves!
