- For the latest Gurus On the Bank we headed to the popular Winter venue ‘The Drains’ at March, with England International Matt Godfrey! Seriously cold conditions made for a very tricky days fishing, with some surprises thrown into the mix. Matt runs through his whole approach to fishing these very narrow Drains, feeding, swim choice, what baits to use and how to be super-efficient when trying to catch large numbers of small fish on natural venues!

Boys that my home town. Amazing that you visited for a fish it's an awesome river. Slide on!
Brilliant Mat, great videos, have fished at March myself, cracking roach fishing, also love your rig videos, very well explained. Keep them coming 👍
Great video, thank you. I emigrated to Australia in early 1969 and the venue where you are fishing was within a mile of where we lived. Back in those days there were very few fish and the tackle we used was very clunky compared to now. Poles were only just coming in from Europe.
Great watch that lads as always 👍
Beautiful net of fish. Proper fishing.
Another great vid guys, I also dislike hemp fishing, too fiddly for my giant sausage fingers hands. Great meeting Tank in Enniskillen as nice as you are on film. Did miss the Ginger kid though. Keep em coming very informative. Good luck on the final round. 👍
Love the vids, thanks Matt and Tank 👍
Come to Lincolnshire and show us how to catch a decent weight on much more difficult venues. Like the Bargate and the Steeping.
Another quality educational video from 2 guys who are top of their game
Couldn't think of two nicer guys to fish with than Matthew and Frank the Tank. Perhaps one day lads,
🤞 ✌❤ Bob.
Great video fellas. Thanks for sharing 👍
Great video guys, stopped and had a chat after fishing further upstream and very obliging anglers. Instead of using hemp i tend to use tares easier to hook with older fingers.
Great vid... Thanks for putting it together. Id love Guru bringing out something akin to super fine pole hooks, but barbless. Cheers
Just love matt
Quality.
Stay safe and thanks
Great video fellas…bread punch is always a reliable go to on the Old Nene in Winter, cheap as chips too.
Bob nudd venue expert 👌
Great video just where I’m from 👍
Love The Smugglers Den, tight lane getting to it though!
Top class anglers. Funny too ❤️🎣😊
funny ..really?
Two funny guys with expert advice
Please tell me Matt and tank do you still have that love for fishing and how do you keep it
Great video again this kind of fishing is right up my street well done lads👍and when are the fine pole special hooks coming out in pre tied ?
Great video chaps! With the hemp, to save your hook point can I reccomend using an old wire stemmed float and just pierce/thread 15/20 grains on before the start?
(on to the stem of the old float to clarify - keep it in your hemp to keep it damp)
Hi Mat, I love your video's, could you answer me something? What are you using to keep your maggots so clean and dry?. Thanks Peter Ireland.
do you ever use imitation hemp on the hook.
The British got the Dutch to drain the fens. It wasn't the Romans Mr Godfrey 😂
I remember when i used to drive them 🤣🤣
top lad
A miniscule spiky critter
It was the Dutch not the Romans
