I use the lasagna method, 4-6” layers of any thing that is organic. Grass clippings in spring and summer, leaves in the fall, and a big one is straw bails after Halloween. Any garden clippings added as I go. Mulch is so deep weeds have disappeared. I have seen Layers of cardboard used also.
Lasagna gardening is very good!
Sounds great!
for those with less space? get a vertical worm composting bin! you can make one (or buy one) and pretty much throw most of your kitchen and some of your garden waste into it. you can also bury a "bin" in your raised beds to do composting in place!
I love to compost with my rabbits. My gardens love rabbit berries. And add leaves to break down into garden gold
I live in an apartment and all I have for outdoor spade is my little deck, all m compost goes in a bin. I do not have access to manure or worms. spent coffee grounds is the base of my compost then I add my plant, fruit and vegie scraps and occasionally cleaned and dried egg shells
They are SO cute and look very happy to. 🥰
Yup! Doing all those wonderful things for my soil. Rabbit pellets are great….but their urine is VERY stinky! I really like the Chop & Drop method as that appeals to my lazy side.🤣 Just pulled up some irises and don’t think those bulbs should go in my compost pile as they’d probably grow very happily there! Chickens are just a wonder as they follow me around the gardens and scratch up oodles of weed seedlings. 🐓🐓 Thanks for the video!
Excellent content. I have learned to compost as my chicken manure and quail manure really help this process. I have a compost drum.
Rabbit manure is my #1 for the last two years. We have one rabbit. She provides more compost than 12 chickens.🤣 She's also 24/7 entertainment. We do use chicken manure and leaves but rabbit manure is the best so far.
This is very helpful information. Thanks for this and for all you share. I may not always comment but I wait for your videos because they are so helpful and fun to watch.
Awww thanks :)
I've got a chicken wire fenced off 6 foot by 6 foot area that I keep tossing everything into. The only trick has been getting anyone to tend to it....or use it. But I'm workin' on it!
I'm trying to dig my compost out of the compost bin. There's a PROBLEM somehow I have All kinds of roots running through it. Very tough digging. I put the tractor bucket right up to it & letting the chickens scratch it out
I was afraid of the bedding straw that falls through the rabbit cage resprouting in the garden.
