I'm finally back in the greenhouse and it feels so good. Today was about getting it cleaned and prepared for the coming spring planting. So out with the sponge and soapy water.
When I have wet jobs to do in cold weather, I use rubber gloves a size bigger and wear thin gloves underneath to keep my hands warmer. I live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, we have the shortest number of frost free days in all of Canada, I checked! Your channel is the first one I have found to have similar growing conditions from spring to fall, but I suspect your winters aren't quite as cold as mine. Loving your videos so much!
Hey Adrienne, oh no.... I suspect our winters are no where near as cold. We tend to get cold and wet rather than the crazy snow you guys get. So it "feels" colder than it is. It's rare for us to see colder than minus 10c
I've just found your channel, what a tonic to have someone with the same weather issues as me (Peterhead, North East Scotland), I'm in the process of purchasing a greenhouse, used to have one in my previous home but not here........yet !, I think your videos are great, just subscribed and going through you back catalogue, thank you.
Welcome aboard! Peterheid?? I imagine you have some weather issues I've not even thought of yet :) Glad you are enjoying the videos - to give folk a realistic view of how variables our garden experiences can be was what spurred me to make these videos. I knew so many people following gardener's World to the letter and then wondering why they weren't having much success, good to be aware of your own climate, soil etc. Looking forward to having you on board for the ride :)
hi, recently found your channel ...(working my way through past vidoes) moved prior to Christmas from Aberdeenshire to North Lanarkshire where we have inherited a greenhouse, didn't know where to start as never been fortunate enough to have one. Definitely needs clearing and cleaning out so I'll be popping on those marigolds any day soon...but its so cold!! Looking forward to more of your videos, especially as you are in Scotland too .
Oh trust me. As soon as you plan a day to clean the green house, the temperature will drop 5 degrees. Seriously, it's important to get it properly cleaned before it's time to plant... trust me. It's worth it!
Due to our recent move and inheriting a greenhouse I did a search for uk gardeners..think I specifically searched greenhouses, to be honest there wasn't a lot that I came across that interested me. Then out of the blue your channel popped up on youtube. I have had raised beds before with some success but never a greenhouse. @@eliandkate
ha ha ha that's really interesting. I'm never sure how people come across my nonsense. Having multiple platforms is really interesting, different demographics come to me on different channels...
Nice job on cleaning and organizing the greenhouse, Eli. I haven’t had my greenhouse long enough to make it disgusting enough for me to put off cleaning it. Well, the fair weather we’d been getting here in Northern California finally took a turn for the worse. We’re having a week of rain, which started off with four inches of snow. The roof of my poly greenhouse didn’t cave in, so I’m okay with that, and the fifty mph winds didn’t blow it into Oregon. Strangely, even with the snow, my peas, which I planted in the open (not in one of the plastic-covered raised beds), have survived. The peas in the greenhouse are five times the size of the orphan peas outside in the weather, though. So, there is something to be said for all the money I spent on it.
Just randomly stumbled across your channel, keep doing what your doing we love seeing you passionate about plants and love hearing that amazing accent! Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching all of your videos
Thanks Elizabeth, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I day go for it, let's make this your year and we'll be right there with you every single step :) Fun fact... that video was my very first video of 2020...so a good place to start :) What's next for you then?
@@eliandkate ah! I’m going to watch through your videos and start making a few lists of jobs I need to do to prep it and think about what I’d like to grow...it’s a bit of a dumping ground at the minute 🙈 I’m looking forward to watching your ‘reading seed packets’ as that’s never as straight forward as I think! Thanks for replying 😊 x
Why thank you :D I'm glad to be back. I've missed being in the garden, nothing beats it for stress relief and general well being. Already making my list of jobs needing done though, so that relaxing bit is looking smaller and smaller ha ha ha
My experience: you are right, glass is awesome and on the whole better than even double walled polycarbinate, until you get a heavy hail. Then your perspective changes.
@@eliandkate Well I live on the West Coast of Canada on Vancouver Island and the winter storms that come right off the North Pacific can be quite .... awesome. Count your blessings. 😏
Hi! My name is Jo and I am trying to revive our school's small greenhouse and start a gardening club. Any tips or ways to contact you guys? Your channel is fantastic!
Glad you are enjoying the channel. All the tips I would give are in the videos but you could always contact your local gardening groups, that way you can get info from people who know your local area and it's needs.

Amazing thanks for sharing
Glad to help

Hey Beverley, do you mind if I ask how you found the channel? Interested in where people are coming from.

They are absolutely worth it :)

Looking good, and love the new hat!
Why thank you. I prefer it to the white one. Doesn't drop floof everywhere and it's more comfortable.

Heavy hail for us isn’t as big a deal as in the states though.
We don’t get those extremes 😂
