Thank you Martin for your videos and glad your all well, the shots of that pesky beaver home was very interesting and shots on the 4wheeler cool. God bless.
Vonnie's Kitchen Martin's Shack I Love it!!! Sometimes we just need our space.... Vonnie is baking Cherry pies and Martin is enjoying his wild life.... 🤗 Bless them both . I wish I could send my hubby on a trip with Martin. Lol He would so love it... I would stay with Vonnie and learn to make pies. I lost my grandma at a young age and my mom worked 7 days a week .
The Bluebells are magnificent! So is the Eagle - the turtles - the mink and the sounds of nature. Gods' glory everywhere you look. Thank you for sharing.
Used to swim in a creek on my uncles farm with my cousins - imagine our surprise when Uncle Fritz pulled a snapper out of our swimming hole, that covered the bottom of a washtub! He bit a broom handle in half, like it was a matchstick! Somebody was watching over us, because he had to have been in that area for years! He was turned into a fantastic turtle soup! That is a nice birdwatching area - I enjoyed sitting with you and watching the birds, listening to the sounds of nature.
Martin and vonnie. You find the quaintest places to just look around and enjoy gods beauty and to enjoy life to the fullest. I love the both of you and all your videos sometimes watching them I feel like I’m there with you. So with that I thank you so much.
I loved seeing the osprey and blue bells! Nice to see you resting on a log by waters edge and enjoying one of Vonnie’s world famous cherry pies. Glad you and Vonnie are safe and are able to start making video’s again.
My son works for a guy who owns property next to the Jane Adams trail and he said the same thing about the blue bells. He said it is a beautiful sight! Nice job Martin.
Always love these videos with my morning coffee. Your videos are always filled with knowledge especially to us that are new to the whole outdoor thing. I gotta say I am partial to the Minnesota cabin videos but these Illinois ones sure do hit home. Boy those cherry pies look amazing. I think I just put on a couple pounds watching you enjoy it. Thanks again for the great videos.
Martin and Vonnie, Between the cabin and shack, two beautiful places to enjoy life and find peace. The footage and sounds were so nice. The window reflections were really creative and neat. I so miss cabin days; but, unfortunately, my late father's cabin was unceremoniously sold by my stepfather. My own son has missed out as a result. I get to enjoy the missed experience through Martin's videos. So, I already enjoy brats; but I've got to learn how to make a Vonnie's World Famous Cherry Pie as they look delicious with some coffee. Thanks for the cherry pie video. Now I get to follow the happenings at two nice places...and learn some nice recipes, too. Best wishes, Martin and Vonnie. Keith
Love it! The Osprey have been really active/visible at Nygren this past spring! Got some good shots of a Mature Eagle trying to get a free lunch from an Osprey but the Osprey just kept going up higher and higher and eventually the Eagle decided enough was enough and went back to looking for something easier ;)
Well, Ricky, he is at the cabin right now so more of those vids will follow soon. This channel is about his life at home which some things will bleed over, like Snow Dog!!!!
It seems that there are more than I though, missed videos. Still catching up!! *So much, diverse wild life there!!!! Love the blue bell, wild flowers. Do take care. Fl.
Cool martin or vonnie either 1 great. Glad to see ya out an about. Im not suppose to be doing anything. But looks like were both busier than a cows tail in fly season.
That harness is a good idea for the weed wacker! It makes my back hurt so bad to whack weeds that I have quit doing it, maybe I will start again!!! Then there is a purpose for carp! Good to know. Is that a Spring fed body of water? What makes a water a slew ( I am not familiar with a lew, not sure how to spelll it either). I am 77 yrs. and I have never seen an eagle! I was in my 40ies before I saw an owl, live! I was on my way to the grocery store when I saw a pretty big owl sitting on a dead tree, around dusk! I turned around & went & got my to children, because if I was 40ish it could be that long before they say one too!!!! My gosh that turtle is huge! That is what I picture when swim where I can't see the bottom. It could do serious damage to my toes, or worse!!!! I know they swim up & snatch baby ducks to eat!!!! Good night Martin.
Larger weed wackers come with a harness and really ease the pain. Local name like our sloughs probably have different names elsewhere. They are the old river channels left after the river changes course.
When I was younger i used to hear older people talk about bird watching and i never understood why,now that im getting a little older i like to sit on Our front porch with a hot cup of coffee and watch all the birds LOL I hung up a bird feeder and 10 blue bird houses
It is as addicting as our morning cup. I spent 15 hours yesterday in an all day bird count. Most warblers are late but I still managed to get 80 bird species for the day.
I was surprised you didn't start a fire and grill up some brats, I used to only eat hotdogs and had never tried a brats worth until watching your cabin videos. Now me and my son start a fire atleast once a month and grill some up. I noticed you didn't forget Mrs. Vonnies pie though.
Beautiful fields of flowers! Any seeds with your blue bells? I had a snapper attack my old Chevy chevette years ago, I stopped he was in the road Mound City Mo reserve he ran under the car and banged it loudly.... fierce they are.... Thanks....
I just wanted to let you know the red winged blackbirds are finally back here in southern Maine. In you last video you showed they were back in force in your area.I also wondered how bad the ticks are in your area. They're really thick here.It looks like it's going to be a bad summer for them here.
Martin I have to ask why not haul the ATV to the Cabin with a small trailer? Then unload the SUV into the trailer and drive to the front door of the cabin. I’ve a Polaris ATV up here in Tahoe and it’s indispensable!
Hi Again Martin So Ive watched this video several times for some reason never noticed that there are fish ( or I believe their fish) surfacing as your sitting in the log ..so is this a stream or lake right in your back yard?? ( I should have clued in on it as there were some pelicans there at some point as well, lol)
Ah sorry Martin..blew right by your comment on the fish being carp ..not only once ..but several times now ..should mention I am getting older ..my attention level has come and gone lol..have a great weekend
Thank you Martin for your videos and glad your all well, the shots of that pesky beaver home was very interesting and shots on the 4wheeler cool. God bless.
What an amazing wetlands, so many creatures. I loved the carpet of bluebells.
Beautiful views, I love the birds. I guess that mink will be raising a family. 👍
Very tranquil. Thanks for another great video Martin.
A nice getaway for sure.
This was wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes to you and vonnie 🇨🇦😉🦅🐾
Absolutely beautiful... great video ..
Onward and Upward is the watchword.
Once again you have another perfect spot to enjoy. I love your videos and Vonnie's too. Thanks. God bless you both.
When Vonnie needs some alone time I can pack up quickly and head to this place.

Nature IS glorious! Thank you Mother Earth 🌎 ❤
I really enjoyed the birdsong at the end of the day/video. Thanks Martin!
Oh how lovely! The sights and sounds are different from the cabin but such a beautiful symphony on its own! Thank you!
Eagles, pelicans, turtles...oh my! The Blue Bells, as far as one can see! Paradise. The slough reminds me of the farm!
A social distancing trip to the Bluebells for everyone to enjoy.
Your videos are so relaxing to watch or even just listen to.

Nothing like seeing someone eyes when you pull a big turtle out of their swimming hole.

Happy to do that too.

Great Time Spent With You Martin, Job Done = Time To Relax & Take It All In, Thanks, Friend ! ATB T God Bless
I like your videos a lot. Watching them is calming to me. Such a pretty area all around your cabin. Thanks for taking us along. 😊 Love cherry pie!
Our pleasure!
My son works for a guy who owns property next to the Jane Adams trail and he said the same thing about the blue bells. He said it is a beautiful sight! Nice job Martin.
People are amazed at what a blanket a good patch of Blue bells can turn into.
Sitting with your morning coffee was a mirror image of the cabin with the exception of the snow and cabin and grey jays ;)
The blue bells,are beautiful
That is a beautiful spot!!! I was hoping to see you cook in the shack! You’re 100% right about the turtles, they are not to be taken lightly.
I am not really set up for proper cooking in the cabin at this time. Can't imagine how old these turtles might be.

really enjoyed this video Martin, great stuff!!
Great video, thanks! I loved hearing the night sounds with the whip-poor-will, but my favorite part was at 6:06 WOW!
Great mornings down there.

Sometimes my photo accidents surprise me. A fire roasted brat and a cherry pie for dessert makes my day.

Nice to see things like that.
Looks like a great place for bird watching. The place has potential 👍 👌
Beautiful area!
Martin when will you get to go back to the cabin. Love the shack. Miss you at the Northwoods 1 cabin. Will have to get used to your Shack.
Well, Ricky, he is at the cabin right now so more of those vids will follow soon. This channel is about his life at home which some things will bleed over, like Snow Dog!!!!

I never seem to run out of things I could do If I wanted to do them.
Best video yet! Great to see all the wildlife!
It is a great place to see the natural world up close.

They keep eating my blueberries. .22 shot shells make quick work of them.
PERFECTLY good locust sapling and you don't make a fishing pole. Doesn't mean you have to catch any thing, but the eagle might like a snack.
So many thorns on these Honey Locusts that they get set aside so the thorns do not end up in our tires.
Lots of "friends" came out to say hello to you. 😊 That slo-mo eagle... so awesome! What a great weekend you had!
It was a nice time, I can see it is going to be a great getaway place.
A real watching pleasure..............................thanks........
We really missed seeing you uncle Martin when we were out. We're planned for coming back soon!
Goodie. He gets home tonight
I was surprised you didn't start a fire and grill up some brats, I used to only eat hotdogs and had never tried a brats worth until watching your cabin videos. Now me and my son start a fire atleast once a month and grill some up. I noticed you didn't forget Mrs. Vonnies pie though.
I did start one of those brush piles on fire and cooked a few brats for supper but did not think to record it
Lovely area you live in martin
Three rivers close my sure adds a lot.
Thank you!!
Beautiful fields of flowers! Any seeds with your blue bells? I had a snapper attack my old Chevy chevette years ago, I stopped he was in the road Mound City Mo reserve he ran under the car and banged it loudly.... fierce they are.... Thanks....
I think it is easiest to dig up the older plants rather than wait for them to grow from seed.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 I just felt that the northern ones are more hardy than the southern ones maybe... the cold genetically altered them .. Thanks
Tordon sure helps after cutting those saplings to keep them from sending up new shoots. Just a squirt or two and they will not come back.
I have used that in the past but full strength Roundup diluted to 50% is working.
Well, there is no shortage of wildlife to watch in that area. Your new digs should keep you amused for a while!
Great video!
glad i found you other Channel
So am I , Martin
This place is cool 😎
Sorry love you at the cabin . Do not like change. Glad to see you again.
News is he's at the cabin right now and more vids will be upcoming. This channel will show some of his life at home. The wife
Your a super star martin
Great stuff Martin. Have you done anything on improving the place. I really like the posts. Thank you.
I have too many cabin's for one man to keep up. I hope to get down to mow this week and see whats happening in the bird world.
I just wanted to let you know the red winged blackbirds are finally back here in southern Maine. In you last video you showed they were back in force in your area.I also wondered how bad the ticks are in your area. They're really thick here.It looks like it's going to be a bad summer for them here.
Only one tick so far so that is good, it was an attached deer tick and that is not good.
@@vonnieskitchenmartinsshack5544 -Let's hope their numbers are way down this year.At least you found the tick fairly soon!
What is a slew? not a word I'm familiar with in Canada except as a large mud puddle? Brian 80
Slough is a term often used here for backwaters of old river channels.
A guy from CT enjoys the new channel . Thanks.
Good to hear.
wow I didnt know you had this shack. I probably have some videos to catch up on!
I have not had time to get down there too much, can't be in two cabins at once!
i didn't know you had a shack and a cabin, i hope its closer to home.
This "shack" is not that far away so works out for short escapes.
@@vonnieskitchenmartinsshack5544 Fantastic, i hope to see you there someday, youre both so nice people!
Gorgeous. How are the ticks this year, we are having a terrible time with them. Thanks for sharing.
A few weeks ago I had a deer tick attached to my upper arm but that was the only one and I got it plucked in the first hours.
Lovely place to fish
Martin I have to ask why not haul the ATV to the Cabin with a small trailer? Then unload the SUV into the trailer and drive to the front door of the cabin. I’ve a Polaris ATV up here in Tahoe and it’s indispensable!
Rules for wetlands prevents that. It would sink anyway in spots.
How do you do that? Writing a comment seeing where you are and ding"! I see you in the sidebar...!
Spring has Sprung.
Lovely place
Martin will you make any more videos
Bet you like the shorter commute to the shack!
It is nice.
So it's not so surprising after all, that the tortoise beat the hare in that race.
When a big turtle is plenty warmed up in the sun they can spring off the ground a few inches as they lunge at you.
Martin we miss you! Be happy when you go back to the cabin and shack. Love Vonnie channel
Made her cherry pies
Great.🐻🐺
Ther is way too many of those carp. Do people eat those?
Many are smoked.
Hi Again Martin

I was down there the other day and the water in the sloughs is getting pretty low. Raccoons are having easy pickings as are the herons.
Is Martin Shack Less Trojan than Martin cabin
A late friend put this up and now I have use of it. Pretty modern in appearance but in a nice river bottom area.
Thanks Martin, what kind of eagle is that?
It was a young Bald Eagle.
You made it nice just like God would have done if he would have had the money!
Where is your shack, I don’t remember you having a shack ?
The shack is near my home in Illinois so easy to get to for a quick visit.
You sure know how to enjoy retirement hope I'm smart enough to do the same
It comes pretty easy for me.
um, how many shack's and cabins do you have???
Too many for one man that's for sure. I have two that I use and two others that are available to me. Warroad? I know that place.
What where is the shack? What happened to the cabin up north?
the shack is near our home in Illinois. The cabin is still in Minnesota! This is a place where Mart can play when he is home! the wife
Is that your farmland martin ?
I'll answer for him, no it isn't but he is blessed to have access to it.
I think Martin's videos are great but if I'm being honest I'm always just a little disappointed when it's not Vonnie.
It is her channel after all so that is expected.
👍🤠
Lovely time at the river
