Your don't likes, don't mean squat.... You are now so far ahead with the Spyder, there is no need to look back. Now enjoy , set back and relax..... There is at least a 500 mile transition period, after that you won't be able to not want to just go for a ride.
There is a mirror kit that stops the vibration., but I made up some 1/8" thick x 5/8" wide rubber strips , cut to the length of the top opening between the mirror and the mounting. Its a snug fit, but this works great, the mirrors are solid now and saved a lot of money for other add ons. :)
I just got back from a Spyder ride getting fuel and thought about you being new to the Spyder.
My thoughts. First if you have been riding a manual shifting bike, stop right there. Paddle shifting the Spyder, hold the throttle steady and do NOT let up on it to shift. If you do you will an abrupt jerk(very disappointing). In 1st gear, accelerate up to about 3,000rpm hold that throttle position and tap the paddle shifter to go to 2nd gear. Do the same with the remaining shifts and the transmission will shift smoothly. This is almost power shifting where you don't let up on the gas between shifts.... :)
More tid bits to come ....

Yep I am loving the spyder and no turning back. Got my eye on the LaMonster mirror kit to fix that shaking too. Ride safe!

Get the Baja Ron sway bar. Big difference you will not regret it! When I told my orthopedic surgeon I was going to go look at the Harly Trikes he just smirked. Later at the Checkout desk he called me over and said, "Well it looks like you're going to buy something, I want you to get the CanAm. Said it's a much better bike and is built for safety and better handling." Spelled out the traction control, ABS, independent suspension, just to name a few of the reasons. Went down to the CanAm dealer on crutches and looked at what was on the lot. Lucked out on a new leftover 2016 Spyder RT Limited that was still there in 2017. Got $5,000 knocked off and another $6,500 trade in for my 2004 Harley Ultra Classic. Had the bike delivered and they picked up my trade in, the next day. Took the first ride with my ankle boot on and have never looked back! I too have been riding my whole life, with my first bike being a Honda 50 Mini-Trail at 11 years old. Welcome to the Spyder Web!🕷

I'm so glad to hear that the Can-Am rides better than a Trike. I had a botched back surgery 23 years ago. I live in a lot of pain, but I can be out for a few hours now. And after a lot of research I've found that the Can-Am Spyders are going to be what I'm going to purchase.
Any advice would be great. Any add-ons to make the ride better, pls let me know. I've been riding since I was 11 years old.
Places to buy helmets and other riding gear, suggestions would be very welcomed too.
I'm saving for a good downpayment. I'm on disability, but that will not hold be back from finding a used Can-Am Spyder.
It's nice knowing that there are others out there with back issues who are able to ride again.

Welcome to the CanAm family! Just found your channel. My hubby rides a HD Ultra Limited but he says when he's ready for a trike, it will be a Spyder, probably an F3. He is actually trying to talk me into a newer one so he can have mine I think lol. Mine is a 2018 F3 Limited...almost 72,000 miles in the past 4 years. No one is interested in it for a trade so I think I'm going to ride it until the wheels fall off. So sorry to hear about your back problems you've had. No, we haven't all had to talk our spouses into it lol...I grew up riding with my dad on the back of his Honda's but he would never let me get my mc endorsement. I wasn't married a year yet and my hubby encouraged me to take the MSF class and get my license back in 1987.. We love to ride but each of us gave it up for 20 years to raise the kids and now we are back enjoying fun times and adventures on 2 and 3 wheels. Yes, 3 wheels isn't the same as 2 but the wind therapy sure is.

I know the feeling of loving to ride motorcycles. I've been riding for 50 years and I don't ever want to stop. I had hip pain that made me sell my Royal Star Venture and buy a Spyder F3 Limited. It was a fun bike, but my wife hated it. I got both hips replaced and we're back on an Electra glide Ultra Limited. I will go back to a Spyder when I can't safely ride a 2-wheeler. Great video. I transitioned from 2 to 3 wheels in 2020. I still have an 06 Road King that gets no use since my Spyder arrived in June of 2020. Yours is a 2020 or newer. The body style changed in 2020 and that sold me. I added Baja Ron Sway bar kit and it made a world of difference to me and my riding. I also added sequential turn signals and the mirror stabilizing kit, trailer hitch and a freedom trailer. I’ll be 69 this year and I know this Spyder will extend my riding years. It took some getting used to but once I started steering it like a snowmobile, I was off and running. We absolutely love it and it’s perfect for us….Enjoy!

@@RideBlessed We love the Freedom Trailer and all the room it offers. I loved the way the trailer looks so I didn’t consider too many others. I wish I had a stand so I could store it vertically in the garage to reclaim some floor space. It tows beautifully and I don’t really notice it there. I just wish I was better at backing it! Because of its low height, I wish I had some type of flag mount for a flag that would make it easier to see while parked. I always worry a bit about someone in a big/lifted pickup truck not seeing it until it’s too late and hitting it. Bottom line, I love it and the extra room it provides for my wife and I while traveling. Glad I found one!

Have changed out a few things like the sway bar to Baja Ron which did improve the handling big time.
Plus replaced most of the reflectors to lights to make it more visible on the road.
Added a throttle commander which overrides the bike’s ECM & gives you some more pep, just be warned if you put it to sport + you’ll rip up your back tire.
Get lots of good feedback from non bike riders when on the road especially when there’s a group of spyders.
Stay safe & enjoy. Regards Stephen Alberta Canada.

Your experience is very similar to mine. I got to a point with my beautiful Harley Freewheeler where it was just super uncomfortable to ride, between the stiff clutch, terrible rear suspension over bumps, and the strength needed to haul it around corners and do slow speed moves. The last straw was when I started to get nerve pain in my hands after riding. Moving over to a Can-Am has been absolutely amazing. I do miss the Harley rumble, the Spyder will never give me that, but I can ride this thing all day long, and that's what it's all about.

@@RideBlessedI've been researching so much to find something I can ride, and finally found quite a bit of ppl with back issues that are doing well riding the Can-Am Spyders. It will be at least 6 to 10 months before I get one. I'm hoping sooner. It will be a used one. So that could draw out how much longer that I'll get one.
I'm asking for any advice that can be given. Like, adding something to the Can-Am Spyder that would help with the ride. I read they can take some time getting use to riding. I have ridden motorcycles since I was 12 years old, and I'm now 55 years old. I have not ridden in over 30 years though. Botched back surgery. I believe I can ride for several hours now. So I will be doing several test drives.
Also, where are others buying their helmets and other riding gear. I do not make the money I once made. So finding top notch helmet and gear at good prices would help immensely.
God indeed is great!!! He has healed me to a point to where I can get out again. And so much now, that I'll be able to ride again. I'm hoping to eventually be able to find a job and work part time, and eventually work full time and get off disability.

My Wife has back problems, we now have a pre-owned 2014 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited. My Wife loves being a pillion on it, as she has not felt one bump, while on the Spyder. The Spyder's ride is so much superior to the HD Trike, and that is with the Spyder's stock suspension!

To each his own. I just picked up a 2011 Tri Glide with 2040 actual miles 2 weeks ago (17 grand and $20,500.00 after my mods). Added to my 2017 Ultra Limited, my 2003 Dyna Lowrider, and my 2001 full custom Softail. As my channel indicates I am a Harley Man. Wife wanted to see this video and her exact words were: "Oh hell no!". But glad you're happy with your Spyder. Just not my taste. Forgot: I can feel the rumble in my chest from any of my Harley's. Love it. Suggestion: get a gel butt pad for the seat. One's I use are $158.00 but makes a long day in the saddle seem shorter.

No need to apologise about a dirty bike, this shows that it is being ridden regularly and not just kept for posing. Have been riding a Spyder RTL now since 2020 after coming from a BMW K1600 GTS which was getting a bit too heavy for my legs. Done more long distance trips with the Spyder than I did on a 2 wheeler. If you find the Spyder is too responsive on steering then you need to relax your grip on the bars, gripping tightly means that the slightest movement of your arms is transferred to the steering. I normally am just resting my hands on the grip. I have added a twin camera dash cam setup to mine , front camera below the screen and the rear below the top box, recorder is fitted on top of the airbox under the fairing. Have a Garmin GPS mounted on the top of the instrument consule behind the screen using a Ram mount.

Hey❗️ I much appreciated your honest & forthright views on the Spyder & your transition from an HD…sounds like it’s been the right “upgrade” for you👍…I have been riding all sorts of 2-wheelers for about 60 years(primarily HD’s the last 50 years) and are seriously considering a change to a Spyder…my question to you is; how’s the maintenance side of it-from month to month and year to year? Frequency & costs associated with it? Thanks in advance🤠

    • @RideBlessed
      @RideBlessed  9 месяцев назад

Boy that's a good question. I haven't really tracked what I did on the Trike vs the Spyder regarding maintenance. In general on the Spyder, I am assuming the following general maintenance: oil change every 10k miles or a little less, using synthetic; rear tire every 10k or so; front tires every 25-30k or so; brakes maybe every 20-25k or so.
I've had the Spyder not even a full year yet. No major issues or maintenance. I'll put a rear tire on it soon that may run $400 or so I think.
I had the Trike around 2-3 years. No major issues. I put a new front tire on it and did a pretty significant 20k maintenance if I remember correctly.
I haven't compared the hourly labor rates on the Harley work versus the Spyder work, but my guess is that the Harley labor is a bit more. Just a guess though.
Month to month I spend very little- just gas!
Year to year I'm just watching my oil changes, looking at the maintenance schedule for more major work I need to be sure and schedule/do, and trying to avoid spending money on things I want but don't really need.
So in general, I haven't experienced any significant difference between the two. I wouldn't anticipate major differences UNLESS some major unexpected breakage occurs. Harleys have a reputation for that, but I did not have any experiences like that with the '05 Ultra Classic nor the '14 Tri-Glide.
If you find more concrete yearly cost information, please share!'
      Ride safe.

Thanks much. If you have never ridden a motorcycle, I think you'll find a spyder quite easy to ride and in fact won't have certain habits you have to break if you have ridden in the past. HOWEVER, I highly recommend some motorcycle riding training because it will help you become a better and more defensive rider out there. The biggest challenge isn't knowing your equipment, it's knowing how to watch everything around you and avoid as best you can the situations that put you at risk on 2 and 3 wheels.
Thanks for idea on the video regarding the different models!

Compared to the Tri-Glide? Very little vibration. It almost takes some getting used to - so much quieter and less shaking. I do miss the v-twin rumble sometimes though. I don't get feel any vibration through the handlebars like I did on the Tri-Glide

No doubt the spyder is vastly superior to the straight axle backwards trike. Much better ride much better engine and a upgrade from two wheels where the Triglide is a downgrade from a two wheeler and defiantly not sporty. Great choice.

Hopefully your back issues are getting better. Are you on a physiotherapy program? That may improve pain and mobility.
Glad you found a bike that lets you keep riding. CanAm has done a great job designing and marketing their trikes. A few comments: - "Sound not as good as a Harley" You might be able to find an aftermarket system that's better and cheaper than what Harley charges for theirs. "It's not a Harley". In many respects that's a good thing... 🙂"Steering takes getting used to" When I rode my neighbor's CanAm I found it was very sensitive to road irregularities, and would tend to pull in the direction of the irregularity. This was quite disconcerting as it's nothing like how a bike reacts. I didn't feel comfortable with this inherent instability, as when it shifted towards the irregularity my weight shifted opposite, causing me to tend to steer even harder into it, and increasing the instability. Hopefully the newer models have better steering geometry that addresses that. "It's one step away from a motorcycle." For many it's one step too far... For those whose options are give up riding or buy a CanAm it works well.
On your next video you should consider tightening up your production to shorten it and increase the flow of content better. Stream of consciousness dialogue is rarely better than an outline of discussion points prepared in advance. You could also include more specs and discussion of the specific features of the CanAm that would be more of interest to potential buyers. Your medical issues that justify your purchase, and tales of how you shopped around, both can be edited down significantly. You touched on how it's different than a Tri-Glide, so a more detailed analysis of why the CanAm's features are better would help. (i.e. - Weight, maneuverability, fuel range and economy, power, carrying capacity, insurance costs, maintenance requirements and service costs, purchase prices comparison, value for the money, available options and costs, differences between available models, etc. etc.)

Thanks for the comments and the suggestions @garymaclean6903 - lots of improvement opportunities for sure. More just a guy that loves to ride than a content creator. Best pain improvement I've gotten so far is that my fourth surgery was a neurotransmitter implant that stops (most of) the pain signals from getting to my brain. Helps a lot. Ride safe!

Yes, one in the frunk and one in the rear top cargo. There are also helmet latches under the seat to attach helmets from and they are secure when the seat is down and locked

@@RideBlessedOn the 2020+ RTL you will find that the top box can take 2 full face helmets, the right hand pannier can take one and the frunk will take at least 2 helmets. More importantly you can carry full luggage for a long trip in the panniers and frunk leaving the top box to store helmets whn stopped.

@rideblessed there was a problem with a few 2018 F3 Limited having transmission issues. I had my main shaft break. Luckily, the warranty fixed it. Other than that not many issues with the Spyders. The sprockets were on specific models and years and were replaced.

Really? That sounds super low... dang. I know on my Harley I had the same thought. I figured it would hold its value well and I kept it very clean. But on trade-in I did a bunch of research across multiple dealers Harley and non-Harley and the best I could get was a full $7k less than NADA. Just wondering, did you trade your '22 Spyder for another Spyder, or go back to a Harley, or what? Ride safe.

    • @JimGDMAC

Seems extremely low even for a trade in. Normal pricing for second hand Spyders seems to be take the year and ask for that many thousands. So a 22 should sell privately at 22K. Looks like the dealer just wasn't interested in it.
