What if the scammers download a keylogger onto the person's computer and has the person log into their bank account? If those people don't have two factor authentication, then what's stopping the scammers from actually accessing the bank accounts themselves later on? VPN's are a thing, so they can make it appear like they are in the same city the victims are in. Sure, the victim can later talk to the bank about their money being gone, but by that time the scammers could have already laundered it away by using various services like Paxful. When the scammers obtain access to the computers they have essentially free reign on the person's machine, they can do pretty much whatever to it. @@christianponce4836 Most definitely not. It would ruin his credibility to start off with a lie. However, it wouldn't be a problem if he has a job somewhere to present himself as someone from that company. For instance, let's say that Jim has a weekend job collecting mail at Google, he could say Hi, I'm Jim, from Google. But I don't think it matters much because it's just much easier to convince someone of a lie than to convince them they're being lied to. Using the same tactics is only serving to prime the victim to be convinced by charisma instead of factual information. That's not helping but damaging. I know that society as a whole leans towards trusting convincing voices rather than facts because it's just easier to rely on feeling than it is to rely on thinking critically, but that's something we need to change, not something we need to encourage by perpetuating it. I think that Jim is one of the better examples of how to approach a victim in an encouraging and understanding manner while also providing useful information that helps arm people against the next scam. In the end, if people let Jim explain, they don't have to trust him at all because Jim explained what happened and how they can check it and that they should contact their own bank about it.

Jim, you are absolute gold for these poor vulnerable people. God knows how many times I had to pull my old man out of the sh!t.
You’re a hero for this. You went out of your way to help a victim from a scam of so much money. Keep up the great work, your content is amazing!
This guy about to lose $12,000 of his savings and just happened to get lucky Jim was there. And it sounded like that was really all this guy had - he was so close to losing every cent he had. Heartbreaking.
It is heart breaking and warming at the same time, becuase he is saving people's lives from being destroyed to douchebags he really is an hero

@@NyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanN I mean not to excuse them but this is the standard state of how our world operates, especially in the US which that guy seems to be for, if you can't pay for medical bills you just die.

@@hedgehog3180 This isn't true. You get treated the entire time but you will still be charged for all care. It's a myth that hospitals turn away people that don't have money. Hospitals in America are full of illegal immigrants that do not pay for treatments.
The fact that the scamming business is involving a person's life, make this a very threatening one. Because they can earn millions out of that.
Bruh, imagine if Jim wasn't on the good side, he would be unstoppable. Thank god he has a good soul to work with his brain.
It's not about souls but integrity!
Tho I get the sentiment.
just know there are more people good at this skill like jim, who are using that to earn money by blackmaiiing the scammers
@mr.1n5an_e Not really, all you have to do is intercept the gift card or bank account for yourself. You don't need to be a meth lab owner to do that.
@mr.1n5an_e what kind of skills for example?
This guy tirelessly saves victim from scammers and prevents the from going in financial depression. Really good of that scammers to leave the bad path and com to the good one. As a Pakistani I feel bad when seeing our neighbor country image being ruined. Keep it up Jim
It's continually mindblowing how accepting these people are to have strangers take thousands of dollars from them, yet when Jim calls them and tells them not to send money cause it's a scam, **then** they're skeptical.
Like really? The part where you're being told to not spend any money is what you find weird?
The people who get caught in these kind of scams ....let's just say they're not the sharpest when it comes to technology or anything technical in nature.
That's why they get duped. Why do you think they're only white people who get scammed? Not Indians themselves? Because they're aware of these stuff.
White people aren't
Well because Jim doesn't threaten them unlike the scammers so they dare to ask questions
@@SumitYadav-ik2df yeah the government worked real hard to stop this madness in India
well in this case, I believe the scammers were using threats instead of simple trickery to get the money. The man who was in the process of being scammed said it quite a bit that if he didn't proceed with what they were asking, they would ruin him financially.
the reason they call the scammers in the first place is that they expect support. they get a strange email talking about money and so they expect these people to be some sort of support so yeah I don't blame them, especially as I'm sure 99% of those who are scammed are old and barely know anything about the internet.
Boomers in US are so rude
I love how caring and understanding Jim is. I can see how it'd be odd as an older person getting mixed up in all of this and then suddenly get a call from another stranger telling you to not do it. I always feel so bad for the victims but it's great that Jim is almost always right on time. I wonder how much he's saved people total in the past

You should present yourself as a "Private Investigator" to get their attention and that you are suspecting the person is getting scammed right this moment and they need to hear you out because you want to help them not get scammed.
You are always a bit unclear at the start of your calls there is a risk of the victing hanging up.
I agree. Presenting yourself at the beginning as the most professional person possible is invaluable for something like this. Not saying that Jim should lie about who he is, but a title like "Private Cyber-Investigator" would certainly help (and sound cool).
@@leonthayne He is too humble of a man and a sweet voice can be both a curse and a blessing. He needs to have more authority in his voice without as coming off as pushy or scary.
He just needs that chance to explain and it's all good.
Hopefully no one has hung up but if they have maybe it was because of the insecure voice.
@@leonthayne
I think you meant “shouldn’t lie.” ;)
I agree fully. That's how the scammers get the trust of these vulnerable people anyways. Jim should do the same.
The cold calculating way in which the scammer's Boss discusses how they steal from people is very disturbing.
Jim Browning is a Diamond and his work in preventing people from being scammed (the polite word for being ROBBED) is amazing

It's a form of organized crime after all, the way this works is no different to how other gangs run and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some overlap here.
