    Haven't watched fully but if you ever fancy a deep dive into her albums and her own thought process, she recently released a podcast series talking about each album!

      @@luggareviews Nice, hope you enjoy. its also interesting you mention Depeche Mode as they share a mutual producer in Mark Bell who does production in björk's future albums!

    Nice video, I totally understand if Big Time Sensuality is not at your top, I felt the same about that song, but I must recommend you to look the Video version of it (different song definitely), greetings

      just watched it :) I like it more than the debut version also, way more trippy and the vocals work way better there.

      Notes: A year later, Bjork would provide Madonna with the song Bedtime Story. Despite the overall R&B sound of Madonna's Bedtime Stories (1994), the Bjork track would hint at Madonna's shift to Electronica with Ray of Light (1998). Coincidentally, that album was released a year after Bjork's magnum opus, Homogenic (1997). Both albums are considered essential to the development and mainstreaming of the genre. The jazzy influences on Debut (1993) make sense given her Jazz album, Gling Glo (1990). Venus as a Boy was the song that made Timbaland want to work with Bjork. The two would subsequently collaborate on her highest charting album in the US, Volta (2007). The album marked Bjork's brief return to a more accessible sound before delving back into highly experimental works. Re-edit Fossora (2022) if you can. Even a 30 minute reaction would suffice.

    I appreciate Debut, Venus as a Boy is very special to me, probably on my top 5 favorites from her, I do feel the album in general is more accessible than her current stuff, I think I heard in an interview she wasn’t fully herself in this because of a lot of producers influencing the sound

    • @luggareviews
      @luggareviews  2 года назад +1

      Yeah it‘s true but accessability is not always a bad thing especially on this album :)

      Also, venus as a boy is incredible… one of the best art pop tracks I have heard in a while

      @@luggareviews this video was a good refresh on this album, it’s really not my favorite album from her, maybe my least, but there are hints of genius even then

    Are you doing all of her albums in order? If so, you’re really in for a ride. Debut is great as a time capsule, but the least typical representative of her work. (Also watching your Swans series, excited to get to their post 2010 era.)

    I would suggest listening to the video version of big time sensuality I think the song version recorded for that video really brings that song to life I would also suggest listening to come to me the live version for her 2015 vulnicura tour. If you thought that debuts version of that song was beautiful vulnicura might make you cry

      I always love me some emotional heavy tracks and albums so really looking forward to it :), I am gonna listen to live versions when i listened to the albums (for example I listened to Vulnicura, then I am gonna watch some live shows of it) and then I will see how she performs the studio versions live ^^ so I won't get spoiled

    Yes, this album might sound more conventional, but back then when came out it was something like no one have ever heard before, something completely different, very experimental and weird. People were so puzzled by this sound.

  • @betweenlakes

    Exactly one year late with this information, but the Milk Bar was a nightclub in London. Björk performed the song live there, and halfway through, she took her microphone into the ladies' toilets (bathroom) and sang a verse in there before returning to the stage. At least, that's the story. It might be false. She might have just produced it to sound like that.

    Both songs from that album and from that same era, too bad you didn't include them..🙄
