Good review thanks, Jupiter’s are widely available and you can get parts, the removable valve section helps maintenance. You sound pretty good but watch right hand position if you plan on playing more tuba! I doubt someone more advanced doing solo or quintet like work would love the tone or sound, but for the price and build for amateur adults, euph doublers and advancing school students, it’s worth a look 👀
Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on the right hand and wrist as I can never seem to maintain a comfortable position. I'm curious to know why you believe the tone would not be good for chamber work. I thought it had a fairly contained and reserved tone except when pushed, in keeping with small brass ensembles.
You can feasibly find vintage Olds and Conn tubas for that sort of price that play very well, but I’d steer clear of anything from Gear4Music or Stagg. Buying used from notable makers is much less risky.
No, anytime you see the Clearwater Music intro, it’s an instrument that is either on sale at the shop or came through for repairs. In this case it’s the latter.
Thanks for tuning in, everybody! It’s been years since my last tuba review so I hope you enjoy!!

Enjoyed it Sam!
Thank you! Glad you did!
Great video Samuel!🤗👍👍
Thank you!
You're so welcome!🤗
You should do more tuba reviews! I just posted another one. Great job Sam!
Thanks dude! I've got a few more queued up; three pre-recorded and two more I'd like to review... plenty of tuba-ing to come!
I would not admit it under torture, but in real life my first instrument was the Yamaha YBB-105 - or whatever the model was at that time.
Wow, I had no idea! Humble beginnings, eh?
what price tag is to avoid on tubas there is gear4music -stag odyssey and more that cost 900 pound is that price tag onley crap

Does the tuba belong to you?

@@SamuelPlaysBrass must be cool to try loads :)
@@nyancs7098 I can’t say I get to try many (good) tubas but definitely lots of other cool brass
@@SamuelPlaysBrass good tubas are hard to come by
Tuba is just a pain, that looks huge for a student model, in anywhere where British brass band is a big thing, a lot of students learn on Eb bass
Eb is really good for starting out or for solo rep. Heavily underestimated here in the US.
