Sir James, you put Tralee and Ireland on the map.......we will never ever forget your genius, you are a honory Irisman and the gentleman of great music..now enjoying a heavenly chorus and orchestra to conduct..God bless you knd soul.John Tipperary Ireland
@@AllThingsLast really love this concert. Thanks for posting it but its activated the pedant in me. despite what the German comentary would have you belive this was not filmed in December. As far as i can recall this concert took place either during or to mark the end of the 1983 Rose of tralee festival which meant it took place in August. I think RTE showed it live because i remember watching it at home in Dublin. Brilliant show. We all knew the piece jagerlatein as RTE (irish state tv) used the james last version as the theme tune to a kind of match of the day for gaelic games called the sunday game.
@@Fcutdlady That's right, it took place on Sunday 28th August to mark the end of the festival. Not sure what our German friends were drinking when they went to dub the narration for this!
January.2020.Back once to view one of James Last favourite concerts. The Irish one in Tralee..So watchable because it caught the Irish spirit so truly..In my opinion it was his best concert ever because he read the Irish so perfectly and transferred it to his Arranging.A very hard thing to do..The audience demonstrated their enjoyment of it in their response. Such a pity that the whole concert isn't available.. T.Heslop.UK.
Fourth time I'm watching it.Dont the Irish love their music. Great concert! James knew what they wanted and gave it. What an audience! Derek Watkins also. Thanks,Terry Heslop. East Yorkshire.
i really love these 2 particular albums “In Ireland” 🇮🇪 by the late James Last and his orchestra. Lovely music. There is no other James Last. There is also another favourite album of mine…. entitled “In Scotland” 🏴 such beautiful music. All 3 of these albums are available on 💿 CD. Saturday afternoon at 17:05H. 15th May 2021. U.K. 🇬🇧 Southampton.
Immensely impressive with its strong Irish theme. I have been a fan for many years and attended a concert at the RDS, Dublin during the same tour. RIP to a master of music.
Egal welche Art von Musik James Last sich vornimmt, er arrangiert immer wieder auf eine ganz besondere Weise, auf seine Weise, wie er die Musik fühlt und das ist einfach gigantisch!
I had this on video many years ago.Family viewed it for years with many tears.Sadly we lost it when I taped over it.Thanks to you tube it has brought back many nice memories of our departed parents.
Thank you James for the memories, you gave our town its finest hour in Music, on the 50th anniversary of your first album God called you to conduct the great Orchestra in the Sky, the players are all Angels and they will play your music. Long live the Music of the Maestro James Last. From Mark Leen and the people of Tralee.
Autumn 2018 Again. watching this riveting concert.Marvellous that James Last csould conjure up such a wonderful Irish concert that got right to the heart of the Irish. Again bringing tears to the eyes in how he captured the Irish spirit so true. T Heslop. t
@@aberdeen011 The Tralee footage is available on the "Live In London 1978" DVD as a bonus feature: www.amazon.co.uk/James-Last-Live-London-1978/dp/B0002Z9YIM
I have this. It’s a bonus on the Live In London 1978 DVD. It’s from Summer 1983 at Austin Stack Park Tralee. Bizarrely it’s meant to be winter in Ireland according to the German narrator! Then again Irish summers can go sour!
RTÉ cancelled programs (that’s American English but the site doesn’t allow real English spelling) for the rest of the night and ran with this. Thank goodness. If it was a CD I’d have worn it out by now
First watched this a few months ago and never heard of James Last here in the US but this was a beautiful concert and I have now watched about five times, it pops up in my youtube and I always end up clicking on it. I wonder sadly if we would see concerts like this today, bands don't want to pay a full orchestra so they cut it way back to a few musicians it seems.
I was at the concert and my daughter Audrey can be seen on my shoulders up close when they were playing Strauss but you don't see it on these videos they are edited. I have an old recording of the concert on a video cassette that I recorded from RTE afterwards. I must try and find it because it's the whole concert.
23Aug. 17 Watching it again for the umteenth time .James at his most brilliant! Sorry for the spelling. This concert brings tears to your eyes! Can't see it enough. Thanks. Terry Heslop. East Yorkshire.
This concert took place in August 1983. I was at it and still have the ticket stub somewhere. It was fantastic. I have it as a bonus on the DVD Live in London 1978 For some reason the DVD states 1984.
Thanks for this info m8! I got the year from the DVD as you say and the month from the German commentator when he mentions it being a 'mild december evening'! :D You're very lucky to have attended this, I would have given anything to have been there :)
All Things Last My DVD is a German import so no English subtitles. Exact date was Sunday August 28th 1983. The Rose of Tralee festival. RTE made a bit of a hash of it as they placed their cameras facing a very strong evening sun so the concert was held up until the sun went down low enough for them to film.
21 July 17 This morning I'm watching the "Live in Tralee" concert ,absolutely brilliant as I love the Irish traditional music. The third time I've viewed it. Back when there was less to do and the Rose of Tralee was a proper big festival in Ireland
Für mich ein kleines Wunder. So viele Beteiligte die alle zur richtigen Zeit das tun was für ein großes Werk nötig ist.
Indeed Patrick, the Tralee concert was something special, one of Hansi's finest. Being an Irishman I would have to say that of course! ;)
My dad had this sent by my uncle in 1985 from Tralee on Betamax video .... loved it and still do 👍

La musica de James Last , el gusto de escuchar buena musica.
I taped this show from a late night showing on BBC way back in the eighties. This version is drastically edited and made for the German market.
I guess it's unlikely you still have a copy Peter? It'd be great to see the full concert.
sadly no,it was a vhs version played so many times it snapped in two places.
Ah that's a shame :( I'm sure someone out there has a copy, let's hope it makes it to youtube one day :)

+MrsVSala Yep, a blunder and a half there!
whats the tune at the start of this?
It's "(I Love) I.R.E.L.A.N.D.", one of Last's own compositions, featured on his album The Rose Of Tralee from the same year: tinyurl.com/kd6rucx
God, live music in Ireland was so much better back then. Big tunes everyone recognises and can enjoy. Not Garth Brooks. 😩
