Wow, just wow!!! Again, you have a tremendous gift/talent and its obvious (to anyone watching) how much of your time/life you have given to hone your talents.....time and perseverance are everything.... Bravo!
you probably dont care but if you're bored like me atm you can watch all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last days xD
Emma this Painting is Absolutely Fantastic, the buildings ,water reflections are so Amazing the Best I have ever seen.so thank you soooo much for showing us this video, your such an Inspiration.💕
Fantastic Emma. Not only do I find your videos informative and relaxing to watch but it's often remarks you make that are so helpful. For example, saying that a painting like this can take a couple of weeks working long hours makes me realise I need to be patient! Thank you.
Thank you Anne, really appreciate that. I know the time lapses can make the process look quick but I think it's important to stress how long you need to spend to create this effect. There's no rush in art, it takes the time it takes :-)
Well done, Emma! Always love to watch a painting progression. Your attention to detail is flawless! Makes the crick in the neck worth it with all those long hours at the end of the day!
Wow Emma, absolutely fantastic, your work is simply amazing. I love Portrush spent many summer days thee with my Mum and Dad as a wee lad, used to go to the Lion Park sometimes on the way there. Then when I was older, Kelly’s was the big attraction for us all.
I too used to go to the Lion Park. Then the USPCA across the road to visit the poor rescue dogs. Kellys was a bit of an attraction to me at one point also :-)
It’s seeing this that has made me want to join your patreon, I’ve been doing a lot of graphite work for the last eighteen months and I love detail, this has given me a perception of where I could go to diversify a bit, thankyou for sharing this
Welcome Margaret! I hope you get lots of inspiration from my tutorials here and on Patreon. Graphite is a great medium to transition from into pastel. You will already have a good eye for tone and now you get to add colour to your tonal values. Enjoy!
my my....had you been born say a 140 years ago ...there would have had a whole section of the Louvre dedicated to you.....you milady are a seriously fine artist and this comment is after 30 plus years of Art in my life.....complete with solo shows, having visited the most major Museums and galleries in the world...
Absolutely phenomenal of an accomplishment! I heard you say patience? I know of no one to have the patience and greatness of this painting! It's truly spectacular. Thank you! I'm a complete beginner with pastels and this has blown me away! Congratulations, and I'll check you out on Patreon!
Thank you Crystal! I've got more and more patient as time goes on. I would never have attempted this 10 years ago! Many years of experimenting and practise so now I hope I can share some shortcuts to help others :-)
Emma, so happy I found your page🙏 I have switched lately from CP to pastels and love this medium. You are so talented and appreciate your tips. Will have to check out your patreon site. Thank you
Hi Emma...youre so so good!!! Im an artist just for a hobby since im a heavy duty mechanic for a leaving...i love pastel since its easy to use anywhere...but i love this painting of yours...im asking a favor if could i try to draw this just part of practice for my own?😀..
Hi Harwell, thanks for your comment. You're more than welcome to work along with my videos for practise. There is actually a real time version of part of this painting which would be easy to work along with at ruclips.net/video/I7Zzn8Zd3sA/видео.html. I also have a Patreon channel where I provide the Patrons with the reference images and line drawings to get you started as well as many more full length tutorials to work along with. Happy pastelling :-)
Hi emma...just want to ask where could i find 30 inches by 30 inches paper for pastel paintings?im not sure whats the size of this painting of yours but im sure thats big paper...anyway this piece of yours was super beautiful....
Hi there, the sheet size I use for this is about 40" x 29" and I used the full sheet for this. If you try Dakota Pastels in the US, they do all sorts of large formats in different papers. They ship worldwide also.
Hi Helen, thank you! I will be releasing a full length tutorial about that over on my Patreon channel in the next few days. Lots more real time tutorials over there for a small $4 subscription.
Thank you Anthea! I'm using Hahnemühle velour pastel paper which I can get in large 40" sheets from the US. Dakota Pastels stocks large sheets of many pastel papers. I also use Pastelmat and UART paper.
Hi Rodolfo, I don't use fixative on my work. I mount my paper to make the piece firm, use thin layers which are rubbed into the fibres of the paper and that way fixing is unnecessary for me. Once framed behind glass thats it preserved for life.
You can store unframed work for sure. Place in a flat dry place with sheets of paper or glassine between them. But even a cheap clip style frame will make it presentable and keep from getting damaged. Good framing however really helps the work sell. If on a budget, work in set sizes so you can re-use frames.
OMG!!! This is beautiful! How long have you been doing pastel? what type of paper is that what pastel pencils do you use? I love your WORK! I WANT TO LEARN FROM YOU! MORE VIDEOS PLEEEEASE!
Thank you Pamela! I've been using pastel since I was in my teens and love it! Hopefully with years of experimenting and practising I can share some tips to speed up the learning process for others. I have lots more content coming here but if you want to learn from me check out my longer real time tutorials at www.patreon.com/emmacolbertart
I cannot found anyone in RUclips that can paint in pastel so good like that.
Wow, just wow!!! Again, you have a tremendous gift/talent and its obvious (to anyone watching) how much of your time/life you have given to hone your talents.....time and perseverance are everything.... Bravo!

Lord, how much would something like that cost! Priceless
I would have a hard time giving that up.
I'm usually tired looking at them and happy to sell them. The odd one sticks with me.

Hi Emma, love your work. How do you go about drawing such a detailed picture of the buildings?
Hi Helen, thank you! I will be releasing a full length tutorial about that over on my Patreon channel in the next few days. Lots more real time tutorials over there for a small $4 subscription.
Amazing
Amazing work! Do you work on only one piece at a time or do you have more than one going at once to keep it interesting?
Thanks Shannon, I like to focus on one at a time. I think I work faster that way.
Hi Emma fabulous demo ! I love your work
Could I ask what paper that is you are using? Thank you
Thank you Anthea! I'm using Hahnemühle velour pastel paper which I can get in large 40" sheets from the US. Dakota Pastels stocks large sheets of many pastel papers. I also use Pastelmat and UART paper.
Just wonderful! I love it so much. You really are an amazing artist. Could you make a 50 hour tutorial.... lol Thank you for showing this!
Thank you Katie! I could make the 50 hour tutorial but I wouldn't fancy editing it all :-)
amazing piece
Absolutely stunning. Do you ever use Pan Pastels?
Just released an unboxing video of them as I have some to try. Will be sharing that experience soon :-)
Epic
How do you seal your work? I bought some spray but it didn't seal it as expected.
Hi Rodolfo, I don't use fixative on my work. I mount my paper to make the piece firm, use thin layers which are rubbed into the fibres of the paper and that way fixing is unnecessary for me. Once framed behind glass thats it preserved for life.
Emma Colbert Art Thank you for your reply. What if you do so many and don't want to frame it at least not immediately? Is there a way?
You can store unframed work for sure. Place in a flat dry place with sheets of paper or glassine between them. But even a cheap clip style frame will make it presentable and keep from getting damaged. Good framing however really helps the work sell. If on a budget, work in set sizes so you can re-use frames.
Emma Colbert Art Thank you 😊 and keep doing great 👍🏼
