      American, but often in the UK....the real problems began under Cameron. Aside from the Iraq War (not a small thing), times were good under Blair and Brown. Cameron and Brexit, not New Labour, are the cause of the current problems.

      @@MichaelCorner-l7o If you remember, there was much talk back then, about the wide swings of the economic cycles. This was referred to as ‘Boom - Bust cycles’ which New Labour wanted to end. The man in the street enjoyed the benefits of the Boom part of the cycle which happened as normal. Blair then got rid of the Boom part of the cycle. I blame much on the LSE which teaches a warped, ideological and erroneous form of PPE. At best, Blair can be called a well intentioned fool as virtually everything he’s done has made things worse than before.

Unfortunately for the Tories, but fortunately for the patriots and conservatives amongst us, I believe the fate of the Conservative Party is irretrievable lost. 14 years of complete let down is more than enough for me. Can we ever trust them again whosoever becomes leader? Now there is a "new kid on the block" in the form of the Reform Party (the real popular conservatives), we don't need to!

South Africa had a series of mottos, moving from "Union is strength" to "unity is strength" (some irony for an apartheid state 😄) and now, after translation, has "diverse people unite" which literally shows that diversity is subordinate to unity.

    Thanks to Starkey, I'm going to fill my bookcase with British, Dutch and New Zealand history (and more), the three nationalities of my daughter. I am going to pull together her family history. I grew up reading all about these topics, but I had no idea how much the education system has changed. I want my daughter to know her history and her identity, and not leave her to the mercy of schools which have so sadly isolated the last couple of generations from their own history. To know the history of your identity is to be proud if who you are and where you come from. And hopefully, to withstand the infiltration of self-hating westerners, as well as other bad actors trying to implode our societies from the inside out.

    David has verbalised what I have believed. Recent governments have set the UK on a path of sectarianism in its future. Similar to what happen in Northern Ireland. Or if the projections of ethnic composition are correct, possibly a worse situation more akin to Sri Lanka.

    Diversity and unity reflect the whole fractal complexity we find in creativity and consistency. Substance and opportunity.
    The modern issue is that an overdrive to realise diversity destabilises any unity. If it becomes too wide a discrepancy to balance, there will be no attempt. Divisions by land will replace the ineffective shoreline. Defending against fanatic industrialists comes from preserving a substance, a way of life that is not to be disturbed by their influences from abroad
    The confusions of integration are laid bare in expectations. Integration begins when incomers assimilate. Hostility arises when it is the islanders asked to adjust to immigrants needs. Things a migrant should consider before leaving the homeland that sustains them.
    In some way immigration is being paid for. Someone is giving migrants enough means to begin moving.

      Parliaments should be held regularly meaning every 3 years there must be elections. 5 years gives politicians too long to push changes that the people hate without being ousted.

    • @dhsumana407

      Maybe you have a point yet we society also requires reviews and decisions over more lengthy periods of time
      And not changed after short spells of implementation
      More careful thought needed

    • @jt5765
      @jt5765 27 дней назад

      @@dhsumana407 shorter parliaments will bring better more long term reviews because the party in power will be worried if they do something the electorate hate it won't be forgotten about by the time of the next election cycle.
