Steffi Graf played her first GS semifinal at 16 and won her first GS at 18.
Monica Seles and Martina Hingis played their respective first semifinals at 15 and won at 16.
I will admit that the competition is harder today than it was then, but I yet have to see Coco Gauff rising further

@@cush6827 Competition was even higher. Steffi retired so young few years after The Williams Intro. But Navratilova, Steffi, The Williams & Hingis where just way too stronger. I watch a lot of these 4 ladies in early year games, they defend as beast, like man (Rafa Nadal). Out of the 4, Competition was made of others as: Chris Evert, Seles, Clijsters, Davenport... Check they games especially against The Williams, then compare it to today where most of player don't wanna run. And these Legends played with each other. They all have 4+ Grand Slam except 2 of them. Coco still have time.

Hercog forgot to play after a certain point and all she did was hoping for a mistake by doing slices. Gauff will proof to be a very consistent player if she continues like this.

i’ve watched this match twice. i think hercog underestimated coco. i think she thought she had the match in the bag and that confidence drove her play well in the beginning but notice how most of the challenges that she called were actually out? she was OVER confident. in contrast to coco who knows herself and how she plays, most of the challenges she called where actually in she is so self aware and she is a phenomenal player for her age. a true inspiration!
I am 2/3 into this match and this is the first time I have seen Coco play. I am already a big fan. I would watch any match she plays in because she has so much heart and determination. This is some of the most gut wrenching tennis I have seen. Coco is AWESOME and inspiring!

This was one of the most epic Women's matches I have ever seen at Wimbledon, all that slicing on the right surface for it, the drama and considering Coco is 15 and so mature at that age is really nice to see, I remember switching to this match at 5-3 40-30 in the second set and since then Gauff was the better player in the important moments and almost everything really.
I'm watching at 6 -3, 3 - 0. I hope Coco's winning starts anytime now.

this is the most unforgetable tennis match that i have ever watched. I backed her to win 10/1 with the stake of £200 when she was trailing on 2-5 games in second set. In that situation, victory to her was really impossible.But she fought hard and won the second set. and at the end she won the match. i won two grand as well. what a victory.!............

I had to go back & look. Yes that was really funny. Her mom looked like one of the inflatables that are outside car dealerships waving. To Coco’s credit, in that 2nd set she was dead in the water & fought her way back. Pretty gutsy for a 15 yr old.

Y’all wanna know what I realized.... everybody always says coco hasn’t won a grandslam... but most people in the top 10 now and days haven’t or only have 1.. nor have many titles... just find it funny. How that is the main go to for the haters of coco.. 🤔
Decent match. Hercog made too many errors at critical points. And Gauff, just never gave up. Such steely resolve for a 15 year old. The crowd helped a bit too.
Be interesting to see how Gauff performs on faster surfaces.

Hercog only knew how to slice? Her forehands were poor. Coco came of age. She'll defiinitely win multiple slams.

Coco was only 15 years old then. She had already beaten Venus Williams. Hercog is a great player with a lot of experience and is very strong. Gauff did well to beat her .

Osaka released a letter telling her fans she was not coping with the pressure of the media/expectations nor has she been enjoying tennis since winning the Australian Open. Yet here Wimbledon is hours later uploading an even younger player's match to expose Gauff to just as much pressure. The same tournament that fed Osaka to the wolves by conveniently matching her with a player who beat her a week prior in round one (of course Osaka should have won).

big up Coco btw, I'm a big Emma Raducanu fan but Coco's debut Wimbledon run was actually better than hers tbh, got to the 4th round as a wildcard at 15, FIFTEEN, respect, and she's only got better since, 18 years old now and in the top 15, recent Grand Slam finalist, taking players like Simona Halep to a tiebreak, and is no1 in doubles too... slowly but surely starting to fulfill her potential and hype I feel, heck an Emma vs Coco final could happen soon in the next few years haha, new generation on the up
Hercog doing non stop slices during the tie break was awful. Playing for your opponent to make a mistake was a mistake.
